They are the most comfortable headphones i've ever owned. I can wear them for hugely extended periods of time without any trouble at all.

Looking for good sounding earphones that I can use while lifting. What's the suggested pair?
|
i like the cheap sennheiser ones. Decent quality and cheap enough where if you smash them between two plates (guilty of this) it's not a big deal
|
Do they stay in ear well enough?
|
Yeah never had a problem with them falling out while lifting or running. (i don't have this problem in general with IEMs)

annnnd the cord on my m50s got damaged and now I can only hear on one side : / Oh well they served me beautifully for years( the build is so strong, ive dropped em and had them smashed up in luggage multiple times and it survives like a boss), now onto another pair, maybe something else this time?
pros: great sound obv, strong build, sleek design cons: can be uncomfortable after hours of wear, cord is too damn long
any good in ear headphone suggestions? ones that are reasonably affordable 20-40 dollars, which won't fall out of your ears

Also, I hear you on their durability and also your cons are quite accurate .

Yes definitely fix them. It should cost you less than 20 dollars and the sound quality will be nowhere near them if you replace them. If you HAVE to replace them, spend $60 or so on Creative Aurvana Live! They are considered to be on par with the ATH M50 as far as quality goes, but with slightly worse build quality. Don't get me wrong, they don't break easily, but they do feel cheaper. Still... quality is amazing for the price. I have a pair and recommend them to everyone, ever. :D
Anyway, Romania decided to have Black Friday on the 22nd, and I got to order a pair of Sennheiser Momentum On Ear for about $150. Does anyone have any experience with these? I read only good reviews so far, but I keep wondering if they were worth it.

I have some HD650's at home but I use cheap IEMs during my daily commute. The ones I've used so far have had okay sound given their price of $20 but they've systematically fallen apart. A few years ago, I bought 2, both of them with the $5 extended warranty which allows for 3 replacements each. As of today' I've blown through 8 pairs of those earbuds. They've all systematically broken from wear at the top of the connector, which I don't think I've been particularly harsh with.
So now I'm looking for some new earbuds, preferably with better build quality. A right angle connector (or just a sturdy connector) would be nice. I'm looking to pay no more than $70. Sound quality is evidently a factor, but if they'll break after 3 months, it's not worth it for me.
Thanks for any suggestion! Ok this suggestion is going over your budget but you can get Shure SE215s for $109. Replacement cables seem to cost ~$30 in US/Canada. Or $99CAD at ACShop.ca The rationale being that me current cable has lasted me 2-3 years of daily use so it does end up cheaper in the long run. Hmm I'll probably use those guys to order some when I'm out in Fernie. Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately I really don't like that "shape" of the IEMs . I do hear great things about Shure and the detachable cable would be awesome but yeah. I ended up picking up some Hifiman RE-400's for $125 CDN (yay for Canadian markup) which is a fair bit above my initial budget but hopefully it lasts me a while. If it does 2 years I'll be happy. They're pretty much universally praised So basically not the over-the-ear kind eh? I would have recommended either Vsonic R02 or Sound Magic e10. I know both Chinese but both surprisingly good. Chinese domestic market stuff is almost always quite good from my findings. I have a few sets of Hisoundaudio and Yuin earbuds and all of them have been amazing. Far better sounding than the equivalently priced Sennheisers or the like and last a long time (my one set of Hisoundaudios is 2 years old now. Far older than any other set of earbuds I've had). I can't use IEMs so I have to settle for earbuds so I have a few different pairs, my favourite being the the Yuin PK2 followed by the Hisoundaudio PAA1-Pro.
I've heard very good things about Sound Magic.

Amazon had them for around $30 dollars or so a few weeks ago and I had Fry's pricematch them (they had it at $60 I think). Good for the price though if you just need some earbuds.

So I went ahead and bought these headphones:

Soul Combat+ Series over-ear headphones. Built specifically for the "active" lifestyle. I always take them when I go to the gym and exercise, and they're pretty nice.
They don't move around a lot and are pretty stable and comfortable on the head, although if you have large ears (like me) they may be a little uncomfortable at first, but you adjust to them after a while.
Sound quality is good, it truly cancels noise from the outside so all you can hear is the music and you can concentrate more. But that also means people around you can easily hear the music you're playing.
The headphones hold up well while sprinting. They don't bobble or anything and remain stable. The only issue I had is that I have to hold my phone while I run because it moves around too much in my pocket. However, that isn't the headphone's fault.
The cord was the coolest part of the whole headset to me lol. Instead of your typical cylinder-type cord, the one for these headphones is extremely thin, flat, and lightweight. It reminded me of a really light pasta noodle. It also has a clip on it so you can attach the cord to your shirt, to prevent it from getting in the way while you exercise.
Overall, they look really badass. That's what was one of the huge selling points for me was, lol. If you have $200 to blow, and you're looking for quality headphones to use while working out, then I recommend these.

That's not a thing that happens... if they're well isolated, the sound from inside doesn't go outside, and the sound from outside doesn't go inside. If you don't hear people and people hear you, either they're not isolated and your music is loud, or they're isolated and your music is very loud.

So my pair of Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear arrived, and I got a huge dilemma.
I like the sound, it's about what I was expecting, but they're not as comfy as I hoped they'd be. They grip you quite tightly, and I don't know if I'll get used to that anytime soon.
The base is strong, a bit overwhelming at first, but quite clear, especially for closed cans. There is definitely a bit of sound-stage, feels more open than the Creative Aurvana Lives I've been using. The only problem is that they're not THAT much better. Considering they're 3x the price, I'm not sure I'm satisified.
The construction is off-the-hook. Solid and nicely finished everywhere you look, so I can definitely tell why they cost as much as they do, especially coupled with the great sound they produce (as far as closed headphones go). However, if they don't fully convince me in the next 3-4 days, I might just return them and go for a used pair of HD650s.
And a pic of themz. + Show Spoiler +

I find supra-aural headphones to be uncomfortable. If they clamp too hard, you could try stretching them out.
|
I know, the comfort thing, I can live with. But the fact that I can get a used pair of HD650s for the same amount of money... not so much.
I'll give them a few more days. I had some friends try them, and they said they are the best sounding headphones they ever heard. That would be all great, but I'm not sure I can live with knowing I could have the 650s instead.

The HD650's sound quality is obviously going to be much superior but they're open design and the cable is very long so they're not really suitable to be worn in public. If you can deal with the fact that they're used, you can be sure their sound is much, much better than that of the on ears momentums.

I know, and I wanted to buy them for home use. But the thing is I also need a dedicated amp. And a good pair (even used) with a decent amp can take me to about 350eur, around here. And the momentum were only like 135eur.
I decided that if I'm going for the HD, I'm not gonna skimp on getting a really worn out pair or something like that, so I think I'll keep them for now and get the 650s later on when I can afford a good amp. I ordered the FiiO E07K DAC to use with the Momentum, and I can use it with a dedicated AMP when I'll get the HDs too (such as the E09K or something).

For a number of years I'd been using Sennheiser HD201s, which I found simply fantastic in fit and sound for the price. When I switched over from laptop gaming, though, I needed something with a mic so I'm currently using a Zowie Hammer, I think. The lack of headband cushioning bothers me, but the real problem is that one of the connections somewhere is going. I do like the mid-cord volume dial/mic mute. Can anyone recommend a headset (with mic) that'd be most similar to the HD201? Somewhere in the $50-$100 range ideally.
