I have to wear headphones many hours a day, would Sennheisers at the same price perhaps suit me better? And how about SOL Tracks HD? They caught my eye because of how they look, do you reckon they deliver sound-wise?

If you're into the classical / want big soundstage, then the K701 would be nice for sure. They're quite light on bass though.

So now I'm looking for some new earbuds, preferably with better build quality. A right angle connector (or just a sturdy connector) would be nice. I'm looking to pay no more than $70. Sound quality is evidently a factor, but if they'll break after 3 months, it's not worth it for me. They preferably have to be shaped like this as I don't like the other types: ![]() Thanks for any suggestion!

I was planning to pick up PL30 because my GR07 died ![]() But if it's worth the upgrade I might be able to pay a bit more I heard they are both mid centric which I really love Although I do like a bit of sparkle and bright sounding headphones

They are rather mid focused, although I eqed them slightly to a more v shaped sound. I don't know how they'd compare to the pl-30, although I believe they're fairly close from what I've read. The main thing they'd be lacking in is apparent sound stage, which wasn't really an issue for me, esp with a custom crossfade setting (♥ rockbox).

I have my eyes n the Klipsch Image S4A sold on Amazon.ca but apparently that model is discontinued and I have no way to know if the seller, "AVGear" is legit. Apparently there are a lot of fakes of that model out there. I've looked at the entire head-fi list and none of them as far as I can tell manage to strike a good balance between durability and sound, as far as I can tell. Sigh.

The ones I've used so far have had okay sound given their price of $20 but they've systematically fallen apart. A few years ago, I bought 2, both of them with the $5 extended warranty which allows for 3 replacements each. As of today' I've blown through 8 pairs of those earbuds. They've all systematically broken from wear at the top of the connector, which I don't think I've been particularly harsh with. Ok this suggestion is going over your budget but you can get Shure SE215s for $109. Replacement cables seem to cost ~$30 in US/Canada. Or $99CAD at ACShop.ca The rationale being that me current cable has lasted me 2-3 years of daily use so it does end up cheaper in the long run. Hmm I'll probably use those guys to order some when I'm out in Fernie.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately I really don't like that "shape" of the IEMs ![]() I ended up picking up some Hifiman RE-400's for $125 CDN (yay for Canadian markup) which is a fair bit above my initial budget but hopefully it lasts me a while. If it does 2 years I'll be happy. They're pretty much universally praised ![]()

Unlike 99% of all other IEMs aside from etymotic and customs, they block out bass noise effectively. Annoying engine noise? gone. You can still get your bass on the go. I've used meelec M6 and hifiman RE0 before but far prefer the Shures.

At first, I really wasn't impressed. Nothing seemed to be really special, but as I continued to listen, I grew more hmm attached? I love midcentric headphones and these definitely affirmed my tastes. Also, I'm looking to fix my GR07s Anyone know anyone who could recable the headphone jack? Or is it possible for me to do it myself? It sounds like every song is an instrumental lol

I know both Chinese but both surprisingly good.

I believe Hifiman is Chinese also, yet the RE-400's are universally praised and many believe them to be the sweetspot at the $100 pricepoint. I've heard good things about the Vsonic R02's but I'll admit that I don't know much about the brand. Also, they seem a bit wide for me.
