Edit: seems that judging from the reviews, the mic is not that great (breaks easily), all the more reasons to go for a separate mic, easily replaceable.

I'm thinking off getting the Steel series Siberia V2 headset. + Show Spoiler + ![]() They don't cost a lot, so I'm thinking they are a safe to get, regarding good Audio, comfortable to wear, durability etc. I previous had a pair that cost me around 30 US dollars. They broke after 6-8 months or so.

I would only get the Siberia V2 if it was the Dota2 version, since that b**ch will come with an item that currently sells on steam market for a ton of money (like 400eur lol), but will surely drop to about the price of the headphones as soon as they hit the market. Still, you get headphones and the equivalent value in steam money, which you can use to buy games. Not a bad trade if you have the patience to sell the item on trading sites. http://steelseries.com/products/games/dota2/steelseries-siberia-v2-dota-2-edition But if you're not interested in that, then just look for some decent audio quality headphones, not gaming stuff.

I can't really reccomend you headphones as I have only really used Sennheisers and Logitech headsets, but that Sennheiser you linked looks exactly like the HD 428 with a mic glued onto the side. Neither of the headphones I have work for your criteria, the Sennheiser HD429s I have get sweaty after 3-4 hours and doesn't have a mic, and the Logitech G-330 headset I have is also uncomfortable.

![]() I'm looking at getting an upgrade from my Sennheiser HD555s, and I'm pretty set on the HD650. I want to get a good DAC/amp for them and and want to think long term with this. I read they scale well with better gear and so I'd want to get something that might be a little more than what I might *need*, but will save me getting another amp or whatever if/when I drop some obscene amount of money on some more headphones in the future. I'd be using them at a desk with my desktop/laptop, so I'd like something external so I can use it on either one. I'm not really into any one specific genre of music, and I'm pretty flexible with my budget. I'd be totally fine with spending several hundred on the DAC/amp. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance The HD650's will serve you well, but to be honest you're going to be hard pressed to get a comparable DAC/AMP for 'a couple hundred'. Maybe a couple hundred each : / The problem with audio equipment tends to be the ridiculous cost... I personally recommend the HRT usb dac's, which vary from about 100 to several hundred dollars. I personally have the 16bit/44khz "older" version of their usb dac, because the store was blowing them out for nothing (the prestigious 24bit/192khz version was being released), and I recommend picking one up if you can find them. As for amps - it's tricky. Definitely stick to solid-state amps (no tube amps, cheap ones are shit). Avoid anything made by Shanling. You can likely find a good headphone amp for 300-500 bucks, less if you want. The really expensive part of the amps tends to be the power supply, funny enough. The other parts aren't really that hard to construct, but the power supply is tricky - a cheap amp will have tons of background noise and will be sensitive to power-line noise (like if you have bad wiring), but better amps are more isolated and will be quieter.

Like others have said I'd just get a really nice pair of headphones and a cheaper mic. I ended up getting a clip on / lavalier mic and cliping it to the headphone cable. Seems to work well. Nobody online has complained yet ![]()

So what labels can you (or anybody here) recommend that are non gaming? It's not labels, it's more like models. Most brands do decent models and not-so-decent models. Overall I like Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Shure, etc. But some things are better than others. I would advice Creative Aurvana Live! over pretty much anything else under $200 (though some might like the ATH M50), and over $200 there are just so many options in any given budget you just have to hear them for yourself. I would prefer the HD650 from what I've heard so far and can afford. Or the HD800 as overall best sounding headphones I ever listened to. But of course for the last two you also need an amp and a dedicated DAC. You can't buy an HD800 (for example) and have an under $400-$500 AMP or DAC, that would be just wasting them. ![]()

Check volume and if you're actually playing music. 1. Replug the USB to your DAC. 2. Go to your Playback devices and make sure that you're outputting sound to your DAC and not some other place. The mixer should tell you if audio is even being played as well. 3. Restart your computer. 4. Try it on another computer. 5. It may be broken.

Avoid beats headphones unless you *REALLY* want that look or whatever. But there are headphones for half their price that sound much, much better. Either way, cheers.
