1. Comfort 2. Gaming 3. Music This will end up costing around 100$ but I will go higher if it's worth it.

Comfort 2. Gaming 3. Music This will end up costing around 100$ but I will go higher if it's worth it. Do you not like the mic, do you not like your headphones? Large heavy closed cans with amazing sound may not be the most comfortable. More expensive does not equal better. As for comfortable, i find the sennheiser 555/595 to be absurdly comfortable. For gaming, i don't really care. i use the same mic as you.

Well I have a feeling I will love the ad 700 but I was just looking for some more opinions before I go ahead and buy it.

If your head is narrow, they will slide easily. Also, despite the size, the pads do not go around the ears but rather lightly on top. ATH-AD700 is also light on bass. As mentioned, clip-on mic is not good if reliability is very important or you need something that will not pick up sounds around you. If you already know those things, then that's a good option for you at that price range. Not much else to say. I live in a noisy environment (both electronically and acoustically) and use the headphones for both music and gaming. The music is usually dance/electronic and the games aren't very positional (SC2, WoW, and the newest single player hit every 3-4 months). My budget is very flexible and I'm mainly just looking for options. Also, since I live in an electrically noisy environment, I'm not sure if I should go with an external amp or not. Any guidance in this area is greatly appreciates. I should also mention that comfort is only relatively important. It's not imperative that I wear these headphones all the time, but the ability to wear them for 2-4 hours at a time would be nice. Is in-ear okay? That would give you better isolation. Other than that, Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 are full-size headphones with good isolation (better than most full size headphones but worse than many IEMs) and good sound for that kind of music. Many dedicated headphone amplifiers have good noise rejection, both RF and from the power supply rails, so that's not necessarily something to ignore. But unless maybe you get sensitive IEMs that are picking up a lot of hiss, I probably would just skip any additional sound hardware.

So, my new rig is done, and I'm ready for BF3...just one more week.... Anywho, I'm looking for a great set of headphones to go along with my rig, for pwning some n00bs in BF3 and MW3. (: I have no budget limit Things I want: (I understand if I can't have all of these things) -Surround Sound (to hear people walking behind me) -Great sound quality -PC Compatible (duh) -Wireless (would be nice, not 100% required) **-I don't know what else to ask for, make recommendations!**

The mic quality is decent and the sound quality is definitely "good enough". It's not a surround sound set though, but the USB sound card that comes with it has a feature that simulates 5.1 surround sound. They're crap for music though. You can't hear the bass well. I can't speak for more expensive headsets though. As far as I'm aware, surround sound and great sound quality are pretty mutually exclusive if it's not simulated surround sound. The problem with surround sound in headphones is that you have to pack more drivers into a smaller space, unlike in a home theater system, where you can spread out the speakers. This results in a thinner sound and much lower quality, and most of the time, the positional audio isn't very noticeable. If you're looking for headphones or you're looking for something for music as well, you're not going to get everything on that list, least of all the surround sound.

What headphones actually pack multiple drivers? Most of them are just stereo. Expensive IEMs have multiple drivers, but they are still 2 channel. Surround sound = gaming company gimmick. Gaming company and great sound quality are mutually exclusive.

I remember seeing some, but I can't remember the names at the moment, it's been a long time since I looked at gaming headsets. But yes, I agree wth you 100%.

Not 100% yet though, is the sound card good enough for the headphones and vice versa? Anything in that combo that yells "NO!" to anyone? I'll use it for mostly music and gaming, but a movie will be watched (err, heard) every now and then. Music taste is pretty varied, anything from Mahler to Bloodbath which is the reason I stayed away from the K702s.
