The problem with that disguise is... you can't help but stare at it. Even if it was a real old man he looks so frail and just downright old you just automatically watch every move he makes for fear he might injure himself just by walking. Which is probably what happened when he went to go to the washroom. As good as his disguise was, it just brought more attention to himself.
I've taken many airplane flights and sometimes I don't even remember the face of the person who was sitting beside me. But when you look exceptionally different like this guy did, you remember.

A terrorist could do the same thing.
So the danger of a bomb depends on the color of your skin? kk.
No . . . but your odds of getting searched might.
I used to be a rare Asian frequently flying through a small airport in northern Louisiana. Each time I went through, I was randomly chosen to be searched. The odds of being searched are almost surely dependent on skin color.
Negative. I'm a fairly ordinary looking white Aussie and for about 5 consecutive flights I've been randomly picked for a random bomb test.

EDIT: It says in this article! that the asian guy swapped passports with a 55 year old American man, I think
I think the fact that the asian man claimed refuge is probably significant. Either he REALLY wants to get away from something, or he's delirious (not as likely, judging from how elaborate this was). If it's the former, I find it only fair that they do an investigation on the purpose before administering any punishment.

you know, if you really want to disguise yourself this professionally, there has to be something fishy going on. so its good theres atleast an investigation
I'm sure there's a problem with lying to customs and immigration. Not to mention breach of contract with the airline, and stuff like using someone else's passport to identify yourself (what's that? fraud?).
Haha wow... if he would've just taken a breather in the bathroom then put it back on he could've got away with it. That is, had no one noticed his hands or whatever.
Also, the part where he claimed refuge got me thinking that he probably had people coming after him overseas.
