What does this even mean? Getting a tattoo is the cause of cancer... and blood poisoning? what kind of poison? and hell, what kind of cancer. would it be like, i got a tri-force tattoo and now i have 3 triangular cancer tumors on my arm?

I'm willing to bet that you are more prone to get cancer from the foods that you eat than the average person that gets cancer from a tattoo...

Also, tattoos have been able to be be completely removed for quite some time now should you decide you don't want it anymore.

I've got a magic the gathering sleeve on my right arm, led zeppelin on my left, diablo 2 runeword on my knuckles, and my speed run times of Super Mario Bros. under my arm, and 5 mario stars on my back, Rebel Alliance crest on my shoulder... also a couple more nerdy ones i think... Im getting a Bruce Lees quote in Jun, cant wait. (getting a tattoo every year at the same time, god its addicting)
BTW tattoos are not so well accepted here and in Czech republic as in another parts of world. many ppl believes its more dangerous than sleeping next to fan.

I got mine partially because of the comic series "The Punisher", so I guess it qualifies as a nerd tattoo:

In case you don't get it, it say "si vis pacem para bellum" around my wrist, which is a) a quote from an undisclosed roman meaning "if you want peace, prepare (for) war" and b) it is kinda like the motto of The Punisher.

To me, it has another meaning than the pure translation and the comic book reference, it comes as a pun on a German saying. I'll try to translate it but then it is less funny.

German: "Erstens kommt es anders [ausgelassen: ...und zweitens als man denkt], und zweitens bist du besser gut vorbereitet."
English: Firstly, everything develops differently [omitted: ...and secondly, differently than how you thought it would go], and secondly, you're better off well-prepared.

Fun fact: The other tattoo I have on that arm is something a fellow student just doodled on my arm with a big felt tip marker during a boring lecture:
