My first bw id was Nightmare[BA] on uswest for like a week, when I got a computer I bought bw immediately (I already knew the game, and had sc64) and joined into my best friends' clan. I got Nightmare from the character with the same name in Soul Caliber II, cuz I thought he was cool (even if I didn't like actually playing as him). When the clan moved east, I decided spontaneously to add "joo" to my id, because my friends called me joo (from south park) on bw, and the e didn't fit. So: Nightmarjoo[BA]. In hindsight, I'm very glad the e didn't fit, this ugly name would've been even uglier if it had.
Another ID I commonly use is Lyra, which is one of the main character's name in His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman. I like the trilogy and the character.
I used Hurricane once, which came from Pidgeot's pokemon card, hurricane was one of its moves, and the picture was really cool looking. + Show Spoiler [Pokemon card picture] +
I used Magician once, which came from Quest 64, the main character is a magician.
I used Firebird once, which came from the title of a Mercedes Lackey novel which is my favourite book.
I've used Alice before, which came from the character in Lewis Carol's novels.
I can't think of other IDs atm, I have a lot, being a gigantic smurf.

My World of Warcraft character's name is Emoravis.
So I took the middle of the name and just separated the letters, giving me R A V (and when I'm feeling lazy I slur it together and say Areahvee)
For SC2 I just played with my caps key and went with RaV. :D

Hehe, some funny stories in here, I just got this one off Final Fantasy 7, the marlboro or whatever plant with the big head had a spell called Osmoses. I know its spelled Osmosis, but I loved FF7 despite all the grammatical screwups so I went with that.

just kind of chose it, you know? this was about when i first entered college and wanted a new id, my old ones were all super girly. i've been thinking of changing ids again recently too!

rise is from when i was in 10th grade global studies (13 years ago?!) and i sat with my friend "dosa" who told me i needed a handle - i must have just finished watching the movie hackers (great movie btw). i had no idea what to pick but dosa was wearing a rise above shirt (we were skaters) and i just looked at it and said "rise." he was like... yeah, that's a good one. gg no re. also, i just realized dosa was a korean who played sc/bw for a while actually, no one famous though.

I used to play the original Quake online back in the day and some guy was on like a 50 killing spree. I pwnt his ass with a randomass complete luck grenade shot that I randomly threw down a hallway right when I joined the server, he screamed in all caps "your such a fucking lucky fool" and I changed my name to luckyfool right away just to mess with that guy and left it. I've used a play on that name throughout my gaming days, luckyfuck, luckylemon, LF, suckygenius all have been used by me in the past in various games and situations :D

Way back when I was like 10-11ish I played alot of games and my user name back then was always like Gamer_kid12 until I realized it was super lame. One day I saw some Graffiti with the name Hypnotik and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world so I stole it for my own name and use it for pretty much everything. The del at the end of my username the first part of my other alias DeLenne which is my middle name since almost always Hypnotik by itself is taken.
I also go by FlOze which I came up with while I was showering one day and my shampoo bottle obviously had Fl Oz for fluid ounces and had a random little e next to it and it caught on.

It's short for Vision, which came from when I used to play Snipers UMS on east. I'd usually give 'vision' to my other teammates xD
As for my TL username, I used to play a lot of FFA back in the day on the 5 player map Twilight Star

Mine is so misleading.... Its because of Mindtrap (those riddles if you've never heard of them) one of the main antagonists names is Slim shady + anime.... cause in animes and mangas Shin meaning death or god... I didn't really mind either one. Sadly, like 2 years later... the whole Eminem, "Will the real Slim shady stand up" thing happened and I swear I heard that like once a day during those times... now its dying down =P.
Could have to do w/ Siam Shady though for those that know him as a j artist... but I doubt that crossed my mind until after I had it o_o

Well, I was 12 and was invited to a friend's birthday party at a gaming zone - where we played cs (prolly 1.3 or 1.4 not sure). And this was the first time i played cs. Had to choose a nick - chose Terminator cause I had just rewatched it the day before... But soon found out it was taken by some humongous fat ass (got scared :O )
When I got home and started playing cs from there aswell. I sat down and chose a nickname. Which would instill fear into others - which would show that I rip everyone apart. So Shredder came into mind.
And at that age, adding numbers into your nick made you cool.
So SHr3DD3r has been my alias for years now.

A fascination with mushrooms implored me to become an amateur mycologist - I never became one... so one day when i needed a name in wc3 lan i was all liek "hmmmm shroom...yD!!!" yD. that is my handle's life story.

All my old IDs were named after stupid 4chan memes that I thought were funny when I was 14 so when i started playing SC2 I picked a name based on the greatest cartoon character of all time..

Subversive was a nick I chose ages ago when playing cs. I always liked the line about 'subversive elements within society' during the McCarthy era. Just the hysteria surrounding such hyperbole sounded cool.
I eventually had to change from Subversive when playing Wc3 as I couldn't reset my p/w one day (and must have forgotten it). Eventually the name expired. I came up with Dacechio. This was handy because no one ever had it. For those who read fantasy and are familiar with David Gemmell it's the character Tarantio from Dark Moon. Tarantio was obviously taken so I combined Chio (his nickname) and Dace, the demon that lives inside him, into Dacechio.
