I switched from mouse to keyboard and now im worse than before, but it feels more natural. It takes a while to get used to, probably a few hundred playthroughs to be better than before. It depends on the person i guess, but overall keyboard is so much better, especially if you have a good mechanical board (though i wouldnt want blue switches for osu because of the way they double tap (or dont), brown/black/red and maybe a few others are sweet)

I'm using a standard usb microsoft mouse on a mousepad. Do any of you have a special surface you play on or something?

I've played around with adjusting the sensitivity and I started using a mousepad just today (has helped a little bit). I'm using a standard usb microsoft mouse on a mousepad. Do any of you have a special surface you play on or something? I'm using a microsoft intellimouse 3.0 on a steelseries QX pad. A mousepad always help with accuracy since it's surface is made to give your mouse better response. Regarding sensitivity, I can only tell what I use; 1.0 without precision mode in osu, and full sensitivity in Win7. That's at least the optimal settings for myself, but bear in mind that I'm not exactly among the best and still far from being able to pass the most difficult songs (even though I can FC some of the "easy" 5-star maps). On another note, I've found two maps that I really enjoy playing now: Madeon - "Shuriken" ( http://osu.ppy.sh/b/112423&m=0 ) and ryo (supercell) feat. Hatsune Miku - "Sekiranun Graffiti" ( http://osu.ppy.sh/b/121189&m=0 ) (both on Insane) Still not FC-ing either of them, but I'm trying, and thanks to their wonderful flow I really enjoy it ![]()

I've played around with adjusting the sensitivity and I started using a mousepad just today (has helped a little bit). I'm using a standard usb microsoft mouse on a mousepad. Do any of you have a special surface you play on or something? I've got a Razer Deathadder 3G (3500 CPI) set to 3500 CPI, 1000Hz, Windows sensitivity set to 6/11 (1:1, or as close as your going to get), and precision mode off (you should NEVER play with precision mode, since it causes mouse acceleration, which makes it very hard to accurately make jumps). As for a mousepad, I've been using a hard flat pad I bought from Staples. The brand name on the front is Fellowes, but the back says it's a BriteMat. It's nothing special, but I've always liked these flat hard pads over the fabric pads or the plastic topped ones with the rubber bottom. EDIT: ARGH I just played Masayoshi Minoshima - Fire [Insane] for the first time in a while, had a 300+ combo, and died on the stupid jumps T.T I have no idea why, but my hand went completely retarded and I basically missed every single jump in the jump pattern... When I died I had a 93% acc (meaning I was probably more like 94-95% before I missed all those circles...) My best score on it so far is about 180 combo, so I was already well past that score when I died too. Fucking hell.

As for mouse pads, my razer one is pretty worn down, but all plastic mouse pads are fine by me, just get a surface with a resistance level that you're comfortable with.

I don't feel any particular difference and I think I am playing maps fast enough that mouse acceleration is fairly significant. Eh, "precision mode" just feels better for me. I have no idea how the hell you do that. Every time I use a computer that has mouse acceleration on I immediately notice it (to the point that I need to turn it off) and I'll actually miss and overshoot what I'm trying to click on a lot. I didn't notice it so much when I wasn't using a good mouse, but once I switched to the Deathadder and started making sure I got as close to 1:1 as I could (there's always a small amount of acceleration) I notice acceleration a lot. I'm sensitive enough to acceleration that I've noticed (before checking and confirming it) that even with my current setup (window accel off, 6/11 etc.) that there's still some acceleration. I noticed that when playing osu sometimes my mouse seemed to drift closer to my laptop and would sometimes drift far enough for me to bump into it. I correctly identified that the acceleration only seemed to affect my left-right movement (with a bias towards the left). I actually checked with some program I found that could identify acceleration, and sure enough, it was very low acceleration (usually 1-3 pixels to the left, about 1 to the right per mouse movement) when moving the mouse very quickly left to right, but no acceleration at all up and down.

:D Played that like 30-40 times when it got ranked 2 weeks ago, always missed a note or 2 somewhere. Played it 1x today, FC it and gain like 4% acc on it. Joy.

Also, I'm really bad at 215+ bpm stuff, because my single clicks can barely keep up so I'm quite proud of this score ![]()

Got so nervous at the end, and just BARELY missed 1 note. I just got a decent score on Homework Crisis (Insane, or whatever the non-Lets Jump! diff is), and then played this right after. ![]()

![]() This map is something I've been practicing on for a bit. Finally passed it on nofail. ![]() Finally S'd this. Been playing this map for ages, it used to be one of the hardest maps I could play, and I was only really good at it because I knew the song well. It is pretty decently fast, even now, but I've been trying once in a while for an FC/S on it, and just got this. ![]() Failed this the first time I tried it, didn't play it for a while (couple weeks I think), then this happened, second attempt. Failed due to timing issues with one small spot. ![]() EDIT: Just got this. Still not an A, but only 6 misses, and most of them were from the difficult jumps partway though. Pretty soon I can see myself FCing this. And it's so damned fun too. ![]()

Discovered that ages ago when playing Stepmania... IIRC there were discussions about it in the SM community as well, and the response was basically 50-50
