i think my playtime depends on which songs i play - i took 3 hours tonight in a row, mostly doing 200+ bpm songs or DT songs.
my wrist doesnt really hurt, only a few minutes after, but it quickly goes over, same for my fingers, but they get tired really fast again though.
i went through the same state of "mass gaming hoo" in the start, but i improved very slowly - a RL friend of mine who just started is going through the exact same period- though he improves a lot faster than me (he used to draw previously, could do insane songs after 1-2 weeks)

Aren't there only like.. 3.. maybe 5 AR10 songs anyway? None which are really good anyway. Unless you're referring to that you'll never beat anything with HD mod.

A lot of the people I play with DT pretty much everything. Ends up being like AR10 most of the time.

I lurk often here and people sometimes talk about AR10 like above. What does that mean? Is it some kind of difficulty?

Okay time for some terms then. The map difficulty is addressed by 4 options that a mapper can adjust when making the map. Those are:
- HP Drain Rate, usually referred to as 'drain' or 'DR' which is how fast your HP bar empties.
- Circle Size or 'CS'. Obviously, how big the circles are.
- Approach Rate or 'AR'. This controls how long circles and sliders are visible on the playfield and how fast the approach circle is. [Hards] usually are around 7 or 8 and [Insane] are usually around 8 or 9.
- Overall Difficulty or 'OD'. How big the hitwindows are on the hitobjects. basically very high OD means you're gonna have a lot of 100's if you don't have great accuracy.
Oh and some other terms that are used often..
- FC - Full Combo.
- HR, HD, DT, FL - The difficulty mods (Hard Rock, Hidden, Double Time, Flashlight).
- SH, SSH - The silver S or SS you get when you score an S/SS score while using Hidden or Flashlight.
Uhh.. that's all I can think of right now... if you hit other terms you don't know, feel free to ask and I'll add them to this list.

I guess to each his own. Playing lots of IIDX/jubeat/Reflec Beat I find AR lower than 9 being too slow. I play better with higher AR despite whatever BPM.

Yeah, I think most people who played other music games seriously probably also prefer higher AR. Maybe not to an extreme, but as a general trend.

Only if the map is AR9. DT does not increase AR. All it does it make them appear faster. If you're playing an AR8 song then you would have an AR of 500MS which is in between AR9 and AR10 but is slower than AR10 (try playing 10, youll notice a big difference).

the creator of the skin for this song, especially on this song, should have horrible horrible things done to him.

I have bad reaction time, even if I know a map inside and out I can't do it with AR10 and I play very poorly on it with AR9. It's also part of the reason I'm terrible at fps games.
I played Stepmania and DDR/ITG/PIU at what I would consider a decent level many years ago. I wasn't amazing but I could play all the 10s in DDR and could play everything in ITG2 except Vertex^2 and Bloodrush. For perspective:
-On Stepmania my ceiling was around C600 mod -In DDR the fastest I could read was 300 bpm, meaning I played Max 300 with no mods. I usually played 140-170 bpm stuff with 1.5x mod and anything under 140 with 2x or 3x. -In Pump the fastest I could read was a little over 220 bpm, that game didn't make much sense to me to begin with so I needed even more time to be able to figure out the patterns scrolling up the screen
So I've pretty much always preferred slower speeds, it makes things easier for me to react to.
I can't even play IIDX/DJMax/O2Jam because I can only read upward scrolling notes lol
tl;dr im bad
