I was out for an afternoon stroll in my shiny new Arbitrator, when I came across one Sme Ematu, who was chilling on a gate in a rifter. In standard hatchery fashion, I launched a flight of warriors and started neuting him. Being the octo-boxing punk that he is, he decides to warp in another of his accounts on me, who happens to already have been in the same system in a drake.
Now, with the exception of ETT, not even I go so far as to kill off my own corpmates, so when I saw his drake come onto d-scan, I made no attempt to leave the area (being the cowardly cur that he is, Sme was not pointing me with his rifter, but staying deagressed - he jumped through the gate we were on as he entered armor.) His drake lands, locks me up, points me, and opens fire. "All in good fun," I say to myself, "I've just been doing the same to him anyway, surely he means me no harm." And so, I lazily afterburn around in wide circles, admiring the ability of my new craft to absorb drake fire.
But as I reach 60% armor or so, I realize that something is terribly wrong. Instead of him pulling damage alltogether, as he surely should be by now, the damage I am taking infact appears to be increasing! I have wandered around 40k off the gate and he has launched his own drones and also appears to be heating his missile launchers. I am left here with no time to question his traitorous, murderous nature - I must act swiftly, for my very life depends on it.
I crank the heat up to 11 on my Y-S8 hydrocarbon afterburners, doing everything I can to minimize any damage I might be taking, while also deploying a flight of Vespa EC-600 electronic warfare units. My fate, more or less, is now out of my hands - either my Vespas will land a jam in the next four cycles, or I will crash and burn. I cross my fingers while dialing up a nearby acquaintance to make sure that at the very least I will have my vengeance.
As you know by now, things did not work out in my favor. His sensor strength prevailed, and I was not able to slip away. As I entered hull, however, the cavalry arrived, and swiftly dispatched the villain at hand.
You have made a grave mistake today, Sme Ematu. I shall not rest until I have removed you from the cycle of death and rebirth.

As far as I read it (Aeth is somewhat theatrical), Aeth began standard hatchery response to finding a corpmate afk in space (blow him up until he realizes his mistake) only to find that instead of teaching a fellow corpmate a lesson he'd be baited into fighting an angry out of corp drake alt, who smashed his arb before being put down. Despite attempted massive dishonor, he couldn't escape said drake and lost the arb.
Now, revenge.

Bleh, The times where I got killed didn't even get some kills to Body and Kwark, and most likely could have been avoided if I knew how to react, or not get in this situation by myself.
Still, for a first time going out, I enjoyed it, it was pretty fun and instructive, and hopefuly next time I'll be less of a deadweight

There's at least most of the time a bit of a curve every time you hit a new ship class (especially your first one) when you're completely useless while you figure out what the hell you're doing. At that stage at long as you're not actually getting people killed (as another rifter pilot in my cohort did to me when I had an antipirate covops tackled with no ammo) chances are you'll get the hang of it.
Then you get past that and you're expected to do well so when you do something stupid and newbie you get the classic Kwark "Leave my corp, we'll talk about this later but I hate you" kinda deal.
For the most part I never had that stage as a rifter but my life as a nanopilot, falcon, scout, and linkboat all had those stages where it was all I could do to only get myself killed at any given time (And probably when I go back to flying PvP I'll be right back in that stage again). You'll get the hang of it. Just please, if you're told to go 1 system over, get some ammo, and drop in a can for a 100% dead-sure-thing buzzard kill, don't decide that you're actually just going to buzz off for so long the buzzard pilot can call in Altaen. Alvin if you're reading this I'm not bitter, but it's too good a story not to tell.

What happend was:
i was hunting a belt ratting Dominix in Tartoken and just stroled through it with a t2 fitted rifter with faction ammo on it and a deadspace armor rep, sitting the rifter on gate in sara and my drake on another while i tried to find him with a third account in system to then jump him with my rifter, tackle him down and join the fest with my drake to finish him. then suddenly a wild Aeth appears on gate with his Arbitrator and starts attacking my rifter. At first is thought he was just fucking arround and pretty much ignored it because i didnt want to jump my rifter as it would have scared the dominix. when i hit low armor i realized he was going to fucking kill me if i either didnt jump or act somehow else so i warped my drake on him and started working on him. as soon as my drake started chewing him i jumped my rifter into system in 20% structure.
i was so confused with the whole thing (hunting dominix in system, suddenly attacking eath, etc) that i even forgot i had repping shit on my rifter.... still not fully aware i than killed Aeth Arbitrator as he hit low armor in two shots. by that point i was pretty much neutet out and another (his?) drake on gate which then killed me cause i didnt have enough cap to burn out of point range.
in the end the engagment was funny for me overall but aeth was pretty pissed i guess. i would really have liked it more to kill that damn ratting domnix but whatever. he nearly shot my expensive rifter to dust and screwed my kill so he deserved it!

A rifter isnt worth using a deadspace armor rep on. Get into an assualt frig such as an ishkur, enyo. wolf. or vengence since the increased base armor and resists give it alot more durabiliy allowing your fancy repper to cycle enough to make a difference over a t2 rep. Stick to t2 repper on a rifter for maximum cost efficency.

will do that in the future. thx for the advice!

Also, off-grid (or at least 200km or so) safes near gates you plan to idle on so that you don't get your (as VoV pointed out, stupidly expensive) ship popped waiting to probe something down in a neighboring system. After all, you're pretty lucky Aeth wasn't in a cane, in which case you'd be out both ships.
Also, mad props to Nou for killing the most annoying looking rail-keres I've seen in a while. http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10731680
I'm sure you're going to lose the DD to some fancy rapier camp, but until then keep on! So brave, so brave.

He lost it to a hyena shortly thereafter. The question is, does he post the lossmail of him self-destructing or not.
How did he catch you? I was sure you were gonna get away when we called off the camp.

Neut Legion is not that great.... 1250 energy per cycle of the rack of 5 medium neuts. But 100k EHP, Nano Drake speed.
The problem is there is no range subsystem for neuts, also expensive for something that has to be in tackle range, while the Curse is not in tackle range ever and laughs at things up to 80km away, and has drones, and less than half the cost.

FA just stole a 10/10 site off me 1j from their home system. I stayed around to fight when they only had a jag, drake and scimmy cause I was in a drake but they ran then came back with two rapier, claymore, tengu, two drakes, loki, two scimmy, purifier. They then completed it and shittalked about it in local. I guess when you're FA completing a site deep in your sov space generated by your sov upgrades that you pay for with a 10 man fleet counts as a victory. Their example has brought me to a realisation. All over eve mission runners are successfully completing their own missions and autopiloting around in defiance of me, their victories are innumerable..
