essentially it means they can't warp away, escaping from the field of battle

To complete what antoine says, you can fit a module to your ship called the Warp Disruptor or the Warp scrambler, both called ''points'' in the eve jargon.
Both have their distinct particularities (number of points, range, ability to shut microwarp drive off) but basically, when you use them on another ship it prevents them from entering warp (unless they are using warp core stabs, but this is a different topic).
So basically, pointing a ship means to use such module so he cant leave the field.
On a different note, being back full time at work means I wont get much isk at the end of the month, zzzzzz, 0 out of 4 cap kills, unless I get on a super killmail (alone) I dont see much money coming my way lol.
Still gj, but it always makes you wonder wtf is a cap doing camping a high sec gate.

I think he really 'didn't want that ship anyway', in all seriousness. He was advertising his position in local, telling us to bring more people, shouting 'yay this is pvp' etc. Whether he was like that from the start or he resigned to it after sulei caught him, I don't know.

Logged in for a moment before I play "that other mmo" to check contracts. I see a large faction bundle for 1.5b, something I enjoy looking at. The first thing I noticed was 2 dg invuls (around 1b right there). There was a couple nice afterburners worth 200m each and 4 cn amps worth 80m each so at this point I just go ahead and buy it. Turns out there was also a Gist C Xl booster worth around 500m, 2 cent armor reps worth 300m each and a ton of other stuff. Still sorting it out but its looking around 3b in total value. This is why I check contracts even when I only have a free moment \o/

Pufftrees: Free Market PvP trained to 5

That shit is hilarious, recently I transferred paltry 65mil to a Jita alt, went searching for random hardener auctions, bid on 4, won 2, flipped one for 20mil profit. No skills required.
Then angry that my LP is worthless, I spent it on hardeners overpriced 8:1 and someone actually bought one. Contracts FTW.

Finally got my rifter set up today, looking to do some PvP with you guys once I fix my computer :/

Hey guys. I have a very old account (but with only a few million skill points on it) from a logn time ago. I reactivated it briefly to see if I could jump in right away to play casually and do some PvP. I joined the channel, but no one seems to be there. I'm on now as Kardon Seph if anyone is free to chat. I'd much appreciate it.
I'm a big SC2 player and stream on TL. I also cast the early round TL Opens and stuff. Can get references if needed.

Prealigned so I'm gone to a deep safe and logged out instantly. Fuck yeah. Anyway, I know the guys in question, they're I.M. (http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=10126554) so I was like hmmm.... I'll go for it. I CTAed Lee who for once pulled through with a falcon plus links and got up a small bc fleet. I then brought back the thanatos to keep them interested and started warping between safes. Unfortunately the mission was one of my bookmarks and like a boss I accidentally warped back there. Point went on, cyno went up, game was on. Through the cyno came a nid, a chimera, 2 thanatos and an archon. It was too much for my poor mission fit thanatos which I just self destructed (like a boss?). By this point our noble bc fleet had points on and the game was started.
We were in a tough spot with about 6 bc against 5 carrier and an astarte (300m + 120m falcon vs 6000m ish). However I called for simply keeping our cool, relying on linked longpoints to keep out of neut range and simply warping out when fighter dps got too much. Our primary was their fighters and we were good. We ensured every carrier was pointed and got on the batphone. Our cap capable contacts failed us but MH pirates were able to bring some shit in quickly. There was an issue with comms for ages because I couldn't seem to get on and for that time there was no FC which led to issues. Someone was suggesting we tried to bump the carriers out of rep range of each other but we only had one scimmy who was repeatedly forced off the field. The fact was that if we got into neut range then we could be neuted out, longpointed and gunned down.
Eventually I was able to get onto the comms for the OP and reassert control. Was my bad to let that happen (we lost a pest and a drake) but getting 30 guys from everywhere on the same comms is a bitch. Lee lost his falcon to the alpha off sentry drones which sucked and somehow an artypest got killed by fighters too. However our numbers were steadily increasing, serg hooked me up with some random Amarr factional warfare corp who by the end of the fight had 8 bombers there and Karah cynoed in some archon.
The caps got pretty spread out which made it difficult to point each of them while staying outside neuts of all the others (24k range) and the result was a fair sized bubble which you'd have to go around to point a carrier on the other side of the field. A lot of people pointing things wouldn't be able to attack the primary and the result was that they didn't point things because they're sure someone else will or because it's too far. Hatchery guys know my feelings on that mentality and did a great job of calling out their points when I demanded a point spread(and because they're familiar with my SOPs) but others were not so good. The result was that a thanatos warped out. As FC it's on me to make sure everything is pointed but I was attempting to ensure every carrier was pointed, 30 is by far the largest fleet I've ever FCed and most of us were strangers.
However we were slowly getting our shit set up. Lee was doing a fantastic job keeping the fleet functional as new squad commanders were required, dozens of people needed invites, leadership and bonuses needed passing down and all of it happened flawlessly. We had ewar on the field keeping one thanatos permajammed, curses neuting out the nid and our dps dropped the archon slowly. With the archon down we turned on the nid which was helpless with a jammed thanatos and a shield rep boat. It stood no chance and quickly fell. The thanatos pilot ejected so we gunned down the remaining chimera and warped my pod back in to steal his thanatos. The field was ours.
Throughout the fight they had attempted to bring in subcap reinforcements but their choice of ships were laughably bad including two cynabals which had no place in a static cap fight and were quickly neuted out and gunned down in seconds. The final score stood at 880m (plus a SD thanatos countered by a stolen thanatos plus 650m cash in insurance) lost and 4500m killed. I used the isk from the thanatos insurance to reimburse the losses on our side and we began to clean up the field. It took a general amnesty (we fight each other most of the time) and over an hour to get the loot which has still yet to be totaled. However it's already clear that this was extremely profitable. Whats the meaning of life? I'm asking you because i think your God. Any answer would be appreciated. Really though.. wow that sound so amazing xD Don't, We have enough trouble crushing his ego as it is.. We (by which I mean the corp as a whole) really are that good. It's difficult to say this without sounding condescending but I'm actually quite proud of you guys. Fortunately I trained you up so with that I can feed my own ego vicariously.

I'm a big SC2 player and stream on TL. I also cast the early round TL Opens and stuff. Can get references if needed. If there is absolutely no one there, then you are in the wrong channel. If there are people but not a single hatchery director, you're in the right place.

Just to add to the other answers the word comes from Warp Disruptors being listed as having "Warp Scramble Strength: 1 Points". Most ships have 0 warp scrambling strength so if they get one point on them then they can't warp. Some ships have more and you can increase it with certain modules that really gimp your ships. There are also tacking modules with more than 1 point strength.

So how long does it usually take to receive an answer for a petition?
I filed it on Sunday. My account got banned for one week due to 'Account Hacking'. No clue what exactly they mean by that, but when i looked at the activity history on the account CP I saw a single log-in from a Chinese IP. I'd really like to get an answer because from today on I will be losing time in my skill queue
If I could log in I'd also be able to pester Nyovne to talk to Kwark about the matter I evemailed him.
