Ice in highsec is quite similar to communism, with easy access for afk bots, and it's sold to everyone. Now, in low or null, it's difficult to access, and you have to commit resources to gain the ice with any regularity, and your enemy can attack and keep you starved of ice. Emdar and I stopped a ~100-man ice mining op by simply roaming into null looking for random kills. We stayed for ~30 minutes before a kitchen sink recon fleet came to kill us. If we were more sprelevant we could have kept them from mining ice permanently until they brought a full, organized force to take it back. Not being able to buy ice from high sec would certainly fuck some peoples' shit up - a change I would welcome.
Yet we continue to get CCP devs saying that they're looking for more ways for small groups to interfere with alliances yet they continue to ignore this option.

Interesting fact: Due to ice becoming like anoms, it is likely they will use the same mechanics as fw anom plexs. This would prevent suicide gankers from getting an accurate warpin on miners and stop -10sec status players from being able to gank them.
Additionally it is possible to constantly bump people to disrupt the amount of ice that is supplied. Basically because it is no longer an 'infinite' resource, things the disrupt ice miners are much much more relavent to the games ice supply.
I still have a problem with so much of the games ice supply being in hisec when ice products are predominently used outside of hisec. There should be ice in hisec, but 80% of the supply seems way too much, 30-40% would be much better as ice then becomes more of a player controlled resource and less of an npc controlled one under the safty of concord mechanics.

The vast majority of anoms are not like this, and I have to admit I assumed they'd be just like normal anoms are now, where you warp in to a spot and all the rats are there, not a gated plex. The fact that they use the word "anomaly" and not "complex" when describing the new ice locations reinforces this belief.
