So we're having a fun argument over on the 7-2 forums about what changes could be made to rebalance slowcats.

There seem to be two camps, one that believes the solution is to separate out a Fighter Bay from the Drone Bay, and dramatically reduce the size of the Drone Bay, and another that believes the solution is to eliminate the Assist command from Carriers, and adjust the existing Assign command that is used for fighters to include drones.

The result of the first suggestion would be that a Carrier would only be able to carry 2.5 flights of sentries, so killing off those flights would render the slowcat group impotent. In a 30 carrier slowcat group, this means killing ~450 sentries twice, and then killing a final partial flight of 300 sentries.

The result of the second suggestion is that 30 BS-class DPS ships could not all simultaneously have sub-cap scan resolution without 60-90 subcaps to Assign their drones to.

Curious what the great theorycrafting minds of TL have to say on the subject.

i reckon the main problem is being able to assist infinite drones to one person, effectively negating the primary disadvantage of using a capital ship versus sub capitals (scan resolution)
i don't understand how a pilot needs skills/modules to be able to control 5-15 of his own drones, but can control infinite of other people's drones...
perhaps a new skill that gives you a cap of 10 per level or something of drones assisting you

carriers in general being too strong is a point too, being able to refit to any setup instantly just by having 2 carriers is such a strong ability that i personally don't think should exist. the incredible ehp:isk ratio of carriers is another fairly significant problem imo, but that's a different topic i guess

i added 6 months of subscription for eve ;D. going to go for bc 5 dessie 5 to get the sp that's going to come out in the summer. gonna fw plex and make some money then hopefully join a null entity and join in on the meta-gaming.
