Making fun of E-UNI has been fun for me just because I find their rigid doctrine ridiculous, but the truth is that many of them are a lot better than I am. Nobody from E-UNI was involved in this episode but I'm clearly in no position to talk. I'll tone it down. In this specific instance, I think I know some of the bad choices I made, including the ones you listed and others I haven't talked about because I'm still stinging from the loss and I'm just not ready to tell the whole story in all of its idiotic glory. I probably did a number of other things wrong too that I'm not yet aware of, but I don't have a fire lit under me to have that conversation because as you point out my first mistake was being in that position at all. My comment about the ship and the fit predating Hatchery was just to point out that for me personally it represents a way to play the game that I'm not interested in participating in anymore. It wasn't to explain away or excuse the whole thing. | ||

Sadly when lysenko said that he knows he shouldnt be flying anythng bigger than a frigate because hes just that bad, he didn't know exactly how bad he was and figured he should use his shitfit mach (because its basically a frig right?). The most horrible thing about pilots like this is because they are in hatch they have access to the knowledge of how to make infinite money (faction war) so losses like this don't cripple them nearly as much as they should. Funny part is I actually know the guy who killed him and he loves doing the noobship finishing blow for a bunch of kills. He normally has to wait until the pilot ejects but given that lysenko actually undocked a mach in the first place with his current level of knowledge of game mechanics, the ninja might have been able to do it without an eject needed. | ||

My drones weren't really making a dent, he wasn't running out of cap, and my shields were regenerating faster than he could damage me. Finally an Orca and a Loki (the Loki I'm guessing had been sitting there cloaked) pop up at about 200km and start slowly approaching. At this point I'm trying to think of options. I have no idea what's in the Orca but I figured he wouldn't have a plan without something likely to do pretty well against me. When they hit about 90 km I decided to eject, figuring he'd either be tempted to take the ship (in which case no embarrassing killmail) or maybe (because I didn't know exactly how that worked) I might not get a killmail even if he destroyed it. (Turns out this was not the case.) I never saw the ship he used for the kill. I'd used that Mach for so long and it was so familiar that that comfort level completely supplanted any fear of bad outcomes. It's the same reason that the Space Shuttle engineers got used to the idea of launching in sub-freezing weather before the Challenger accident -- "well, we've done it before, and it's never been a problem so far." As for why I was out there in the first place, the reasons were senseless and I'm not doing it again. | ||
