It is rarely the ships fault (unless you are gallente, apologize for choosing that race kthx), but rather the fault of the person fitting the ship.

T_T I meant, safe between your spot and those things you find deep out there. I figured most people would be lazy enough to just set their safes by aligning to nearest sun/planet and dropping a bookmark halfway there.

You can not create deep safes with scanner probes. Everything you find will be well inside the confines or the solar system. Actually, I think sites generally spawn close to celestials, with minor to major difference as the sites difficulty increases. You could create normal safe spots, but just warping around a lot and making bookmarks in between will probably result in spots that are further away from any normal path. Two ways to create deep safes exist(ed): Fighters would sometimes warp out 80+ AU from the system and you could scan them down to make a deep safe, but I don't think they do that anymore. Also some of the incursion sites are deep safes, but again I don't know if that's still the case.

I'm pretty sad it was so abruptly shut down, since this kind of abuse of market forces is extremely intriguing due to the fact that it hardly exists in real life. Great read. This sort of stuff does exist in real life. It's called marketing. You convince people to buy at a higher price through various methods. I just need to look at the local Best Buy to see it. Some select products are 50% more expensive than ordering online.

I think (and I could very well be wrong) that I recall reading that exploration sites are all within 20AU of a celestial

Best way to generate deep safes these days is from missions (either from probing/ganking someone in a deep mission or spamming a local agent until it gives you a deep safe). Incursion sites can also make excellent deeps, but it requires passing through a system while an incursion is on (and bear in mind anyone can bookmark the sites, so generate a new deep mid warp between the sites)
