Do you guys think that sending your probes as far to the system zenith (up) or nadir (down) as possible and searching for some random things to warp to to set your safe there is a good idea?

I've just spent quite a lot of time reading through this thread, and have decided to get the game :D
I was wondering, could someone post about the basics? It's hard to explain what I mean without sounding like a complete noob. Maybe different kinds of ships, I'm not sure (I hope you can see what I'm getting at XD).

This is a list of different ships in the game, you can also look through other factions by clicking the name of the faction you wish to look at on that page. A lot of other basics of the game are in the OP of this thread, I highly suggest you read the entire OP. If are going to be joining the TL alliance, then a lot more information is located in the corp bulletins, which you can see once you are in corp.

I don't even...

I know I'm a noob, but it seems like a lot of isk value for what this ship really does (especially considering its shitty speed).

It doesn't do anything...it's got no tank.

It is rarely the ships fault (unless you are gallente, apologize for choosing that race kthx), but rather the fault of the person fitting the ship.

I meant, safe between your spot and those things you find deep out there. I figured most people would be lazy enough to just set their safes by aligning to nearest sun/planet and dropping a bookmark halfway there.

Even deep safes aren't too far from the solar plane. I typically use old archaeology sites for deep safes, and even those aren't more than a few AU out from that plane.

You can not create deep safes with scanner probes. Everything you find will be well inside the confines or the solar system.
Actually, I think sites generally spawn close to celestials, with minor to major difference as the sites difficulty increases.
You could create normal safe spots, but just warping around a lot and making bookmarks in between will probably result in spots that are further away from any normal path.

Two ways to create deep safes exist(ed):
Fighters would sometimes warp out 80+ AU from the system and you could scan them down to make a deep safe, but I don't think they do that anymore.
Also some of the incursion sites are deep safes, but again I don't know if that's still the case.

The way to make deep safes back than were actually with heavy ass ships (titans) and the logout trick...

Or probing out a probe that you yourself out there.

Goons killed a rifter, so Kwark and Co killed some goons, then they got kicked from FA. I thought the plan was to break in, steal everything, then leave?

This sort of stuff does exist in real life. It's called marketing. You convince people to buy at a higher price through various methods. I just need to look at the local Best Buy to see it. Some select products are 50% more expensive than ordering online.

I think (and I could very well be wrong) that I recall reading that exploration sites are all within 20AU of a celestial

Wormholes are up to 8AU, but yeh, any scanned signature will be within d-scan of something.

Best way to generate deep safes these days is from missions (either from probing/ganking someone in a deep mission or spamming a local agent until it gives you a deep safe).

Incursion sites can also make excellent deeps, but it requires passing through a system while an incursion is on (and bear in mind anyone can bookmark the sites, so generate a new deep mid warp between the sites)

There was no corp-wide plan for what we were going to do in FA, if someone wanted to plan something it was up to them to set it up. Your description of how we got kicked is accurate.
