I guess you really cant talk about the game, but do you guys get any info of whats going on?
Rumors say that a stresstest has begun. I would very much like to know if this is true, cuz if its true, we can expect a release fairly soon.

Where's the rumors for that? I haven't heard that but prey its true :D

Guess they are staring to get more people into beta :D

Scuttlebutt came from the EA investor meeting this morning. John Ricitello (hereafter referred to as JR) said something which was heard as "high-scale beta at the end of June". This caused quite the stir among the fans, and inside of BioWare itself. BioWare had no intention to announce anything like that at this time.

Stephen Reid of BioWare came onto the TOR boards to clarify. Basically, he's saying that game testing is underway, and the number of testers will gradually increase as time goes on. He also stated that BW themselves didn't have a recording of the call, and they're working off transcripts in order to try to get to the bottom of it-- the same transcripts everyone else is looking at. Some say JR said "beta", others say "data".

On the one hand, if he said "beta", it wouldn't be a huge surprise. This is John Ricitello, the man who single-handedly announced TOR three months before BioWare said anything, and who gave us our first release date window, again before BW said anything.

On the other, it's entirely possible that he said "data". Rabid fanboys hear what they want to hear, and we all want to hear "beta". EDIT: Listening to this, it's abundantly clear that he says "beta".

The other thing to note is that JR said something about a six-week timeframe, depending upon the results of the ongoing testing. However, the transcripts... don't really make much sense, grammatically. I'd hate to try to follow anything JR says, if that's how he speaks.

TL;DR: Some really cryptic crap was said today by the man known for being spoileriffic, and the only people who can make definite heads or tails of it refuse. For now, watch and wait.

Based on the cinematic i've seen, they should drop the game and start working on movies :p

Can someone explains to me why are there clone troops looking people and star destoryer looking ship thousands years before the the original star wars took place? The earlier version of star destoryers aren't even as powerful looking as the ones shown here....

They may resemble clone troopers, but they're not clones. They're Republic troopers, much the same as the Imperial Stormtroopers from the original trilogy, and yes, the clone troopers of the prequels.

Everything looks similar to retain the Star Wars aesthetic. Even granting thousands of years between the events in TOR and the events of the films, it would be really weird to play something that looked nothing like what we think when we think "Star Wars". Also, every other canon source from this time period (and earlier) looks similar to what you see when you watch the films.

Everything looks more awesome than the films because BW can do that, and they want to. They need to generate hype-- they can't do that if you're looking at something crappier than a 1977 shoestring budget film.

He never said they were clones, but just looked like them.

Bioware didn't create any of the CGI trailers. All the credit goes to Blur Studios. They deserve all the credit.

I know he didn't say they were clones. I was clarifying in case he had the suspicion that they might be.

Blur did indeed create the trailers. The characters, designs, and broad strokes of action came from BioWare. BW deserves some credit.

for writing an absolutely cliched piece of cinematography populated by naff characters in an archetypical opening sequence?

I think blur deserves double the credit for having the skillz to actually make it work out. Imagine the same thing without incredibly good animation, it would feel like a schlocky 1970s scifi.

If that's your evaluation for the cinematic, then yes. Not an unfair evaluation at all.

The "fleshed out" version of the relevant part of my statement is: "BW deserves some credit (for the cinematic)."

The parenthetical was removed because that was the subject of the statement to which I was replying, and I felt the reference was implied clearly enough that it need not be mentioned explicitly.

People like you are impossible to please.

The only thing that would make you happy is something that makes no sense but is "new and edgy".

People expect certain things from Star Wars.

Seriously, what did you want the Jedis to run out and both just get 1 shot and every1 dies?

Wookies running around on fire?

Or i know One jedi turns and kills the other one and is revealed to actually be a sith? 0.0. in which case you would cry thats cliche and over-done too.

You are one of those people who I am sure is a real treat to sit next to in a movie theatre -_-

Are you blind? It's an MMO! The Requirements are probably a little bit higher than WoW, but it's an MMO, so just lower the details if your FPS drops.

Considering the age of WoW it's definitely a lot higher specs required than WoW.

The extent of the minimum requirements is probably quite unknown. MMOs tend to go quite low, but can still have pretty high minimum reqs.

IMO warhammer online (3 year old game) is maybe minimum one should expect for minimum requirements... or even minimum specs for like dragon age (nearly 2 YO game)whether or not it will be the level of either.

That said those games don't have high reqs and you could run them better than a person could run SC2.

If you have a machine that runs SC2 well, no worries. Otherwise, investing min 500 USD will get you there easily.

Word is that they sent email surveys today (or yesterday?) to a bunch of people from the US, UK and EU (Devs words not mine)

So Canadians are excluded, but the dev tracker on the website went on to say that this was a limited round of testing where your odds were pretty terrible to get in AND he then proceeded to make the testing sound terribly limited (run by a research agency).

Check your emails, who knows you might have a chance.
Too tired to come up with something witty.
