SC3 arcade was actually pretty decent. Too bad pretty much nobody got to play it outside of Japan so most people had to play the horrible PS2 version. SC4 is pretty cool, glad they changed up a few things to keep them useful but not as stupid (as far as I can tell) like Xianghua 22B (or Xianghua in general, really). Normal hit launchers seem a bit more rare (kinda sorta) and maybe it's just be but it feels like ring-outs are really easy this time around. Definitely closer to II than IV in terms of feel, though. Hopefully no 222G glitches or anything. Instant kills or whatever they're called are hilarious. Character customization has a bunch of options but it's kinda limited in some ways (no P1 outfit pieces available for customization)... though I guess with half (more like ALL) of the girls' P1 outfits having no bras, it makes sense to not let you remove clothing from P1 outfits. Still, most of the P1 outfits are cooler looking than the P2/customizable outfits. Maybe DLC will give more options later.

Slow, generic sword-type attacks, vulnerable to counter-attacks. Once the novelty of playing as Vader wears off, I figure I wouldn't touch this character too much.

![]() + Show Spoiler + Actually this is less true in SC because weapons extend your range? Still no projectiles. WTF lol @ breast upgrade diagrams. You've got to wonder when it's going to stop. Soul Calibur 5? 6? Never? I mean, after a certain point they reached critical mass.

Soulcalibur III was very buggy and unbalanced, they fixed the bugs and balanced it for the arcades but they never released a new fixed version for consoles unfortunately... Soulcalibur IV is a great game. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Online play only works if your opponent got 5 lag bars. 4 bars or less lags alot for a fighting game. Yoda and the apprentice are worthless. There a couple of bugs that Namco will patch soon hopefully. I think this game is a lot of fun, highly recommended!

The Japanese version of SC4 just got a balance patch yesterday. It's not certain when the rest of the world will have this patch deployed. Here's a list of changes. Because no notes are included, these changes are determined by player experiences and may need to be confirmed. System Changes - Soul Crushes are harder to pull off (moves generally take off less from the soul gauge) + You can JI throws + laggy stage are much improved but not completely fixed Ivy: - SW WS B is FIXED.... it hits TOTALLY different, SW WS B -> BT A+B no longer forward RO and can't follow up with the old combo, so no more infinites.. - whip 6A+B does less damage + JF CS is easier to do (window is bigger) - whip 3B worse recover - CS range seems to be shorter... it's covers around 'one character width' away (hm... don't know how to translate that but you can go figure) Algol: -3B~41236B->3B - damage scaled down to 70 (before was 90) -if 22B is hit in the air... it no longer provides a stun for 2A+B to bounce juggle -8A+B in juggles will set them flying backwards... for BT B+K so 33B -> 8A+B -> BT B+K ... it does horrible damage compared to before... he mentioned something like 50? yeah -66A+G throw pushes further back Cassandra: - 66B+K doesn't pick up the opponent like before... - you can do five i236[B] in a row lol... (probably shitty damage) - 66A+B on airborne can NOT connect the 4 jf - 236[B] recovery on block is worse you're looking at BB for most characters Sophitia: -BB damage is weaker now -3A+B hit airborne once Yoshimitsu: -a:B+K damage is weaker, and can not follow up with 3AB UNLESS you do 2a:B before that.... making it harder -44bA no longer rapes soul gauge like before.. takes around four 44bA against the wall for CF... not like before two 44bA no walls..... - after a:B+K vs airborne (in juggle), 66B can be teched to the left (but i'm sure he didn't test it against all characters.....and no we don't plan to test against all characters) Amy: -3BA no longer rapes soul gauge does less damage Raphael: - BB no longer tracks like no tomorrow... Setsuka: -A+G throw is 5 less damage Voldo: - BS 236A no longer stuns - BS 22B won't relaunch the airborne opponent - combo damage is weaker Astaroth: - 6K is -14 Xianghua: + 214B+G B hits Astaroth Talim: - A+K Tech Jump time is less Cervantes: -11K has less advantage on block - regular hit 3B can not connect i214B+K only CH version can. Tira: -infinite against talim doesn't work (didn't even know there was an infinite lol) + 2A no longer whiffs Siegfried: -3[B] SCH B no longer combos Kilik: + B+K will auto GI mid horizontal/vertical non-kick attacks. smaller GI window The Apprentice: + A+B throw break has better recovery Things NOT fixed: - Cass 1K still misses LM - Kilik's MO A still goes through Maxi.

They have pretty much the same community, CF.com is a mirror of the old soulcalibur.com before the site got redesigned, but the site can't take much traffic so some of the members created 8WR.com as a sister site. EDIT: I'm down to play with any of you guys if you're interested. Add me on XBL as SummonSuffering. I do have a headset but typically play with my PS2 controller (which I use an adapter for) which doesn't support a headset.

Curious how that works. PS- I hate how they have 1 special character per system. They should just have all of them with 1 semi easy to unlock and the rest harder to unlock. Or they should just do some kind of special SC that has every character in 1 game from all the old games (same sprites and all) sorta like a MUGEN. Btw, do they have a MUGEN for 3d fighters yet?

Us PS3 players would rather not have Yoda, thank you very much ^^ also the patch would just work like on a PC... it updates the game (not the game disc, of course, but data that's on your system)

SC4 isn't in arcades, and is only for PS3 and 360. It is also widely believed that Vader will become a DLC character for 360 and Yoda for PS3. The way they updated SC3 Arcade Edition was that the arcade owners had to buy upgrade versions (just new DVD-ROMs) and just install it themselves.
