You connect to XBL just fine so I don't even know :| It used to be on the old interface (no idea about the new) that you could run a connection self-test. One of the things it would tell you is how strict your NAT is. The interface abstracted what that really means into 3 categories of how well you can connect (i.e. behind the scenes, is your router doing port forwarding, packet filtering of packets you want, etc.): Open NAT, Moderate NAT, and Strict NAT. If one person has Open NAT they can connect and play with anybody else. Moderate NAT people can only play with Open and Moderate NAT players. Strict NAT can only play with Open NAT people. The real issue with connecting to an opponent is the other person being able to get an unsolicited stream open to you. This scenario doesn't occur when you connect to the XBL service, as you're the one getting a connection to the outside. Thus you can have people who can connect to XBL independently and not be able to play each other.

So you may need to manually set port forwarding or enable uPNP port forwarding, stop some kind of firewalling/filtering scheme, etc. on your router or your opponent's, wherever the problem is.

Once Akarune curses you, bugs start randomly flying at you from all over the screen. (Actually I think it's player-controlled, but from my perspective it's random.) Akarune has several curse moves that curse you even if you block them. Although they move slowly, Tager is too big and too slow to evade them, or to rush-in to punish Akarune after he spits out a cloud, like some of the other characters can. And due to Tager's enormous size and lack of good anti-airs that hit above his head, once he's cursed and being rushed down, it's all but impossible for him to anything except block, because if Akarune doesn't hit him out of a move, a random bug almost certainly will. If anyone can find Japanese videos of Tager beating Akarune then I'd love to see them. I like to think that ArcSys wouldn't just leave him with no options other than blocking until the curse runs out, and that I just didn't figure them out at the time. Either way, I have never felt so pissed off before as I did trying to figure out that matchup tonight. Cursed -> can't do shit -> gg. Cursed -> can't do shit -> gg. Cursed -> can't do shit -> gg. In the end one of my friends said "cry more" and I was so pissed at the game (and consequently, at all kinds of little things that don't bother me normally) that I went FUCKING BERSERK. Like, if you've ever seen me get mad -- really fucking mad -- on Bnet after losing a game of Team Micro Melee, well, just picture that in real fucking life. I can't even remember the last time I exploded like that: I think it must have been more than 5 years ago. I was originally going to sleep over and keep playing tomorrow as well (a friend bought the arcade board, btw), but after that I just wasn't in the mood to play anymore and ended up going home. So in the end, I spent 5 hours travelling today for about 45 minutes worth of BlazBlue time, which in turn was spent sitting there holding block because half the people were using Akarune so that was practically the only matchup I played all day. What the fuck. Stupid fucking matchup. /rant

Need to learn to instant block -> escape/punish, or figure out which things to dodge -> punish with backdash -> 5A/Buster, using charge and 236A/B to absorb hits, build up magnet bar, etc. etc. Once you have full magnet bar, you can take a guess and shoot a Tager Shot should you think he'll attempt to call out a cloud- if he eats it, 50% combo ezez. If you can tag him with a magnetizing move, that can be kinda helpful as well- full magnet bar magnet attraction brings people in really fast D: But yeah, patience and using all of your defensive options is the big thing. Tager, like Potemkin before him, has a lot of invul on his backdash, and instant block is really good in BB and Tager has really stupid good things to do out of instant block a lot of the time.

![]() I have a feeling I'll be switching characters if playing Tager forces me to block for long periods of time. I'm more of an offensive/attacking/mixups guy, which is why I prefer characters like Makoto, Konoha, and Kira so much. So I'll probably end up switching to Arakune at least for a while.

I've been googling but I fail at internets so can someone give me the run down on how her attacks work? If someone could just quote this and tell me what's what I'd be happy: QCF+A/B/C QCB+A QCB+B 22+A I think the first one is the electric pole thingy, second one's frog? is the third one the floaty thing? I also pretty much have no idea what her drive does... does it set off her traps or something? Also what's the command for the 10 hit aerial slash you see - is that just a command normal (i.e. Slayer flip kick)? Also what are the conditions for comboing into her distortion drive? I see some Rachel's executing it as the Lobelia thing pops out when it's planting, but I don't think it's as easy as it looks. Also this is a huge noob question, but what's that 4 part meter under her portrait for? A limit for how many drives you can use? If anyone could give me a decent link that explains all of this I'd be eternally grateful. Also a run down on some of her normals if anyone could spare the time would be sweet.

![]() http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_K__Kt1Gr0 By the way, another quirk about BlazBlue is that 360 motions require you to do the ENTIRE 360 before pressing a button, not just a 270 like AH, 3s, etc. That's why I kept messing up my tick grabs. ![]()
