I can't tell if they're really trying or not. The execution level says they are, everything else makes me think it's them trying to troll the americans lol

they just are willing to take low tiers to a tournament on marvel

It's nothing to do with the tiers... Switch glitching in magneto for msp so you've got the advantage on all but 2 characters of the 56 character cast and can kill their point char off the start if they guess wrong; but you walk backward before it starts so you begin at full screen instead of right on top??
WHAT?!
Executing the ROM perfectly but losing to basic cable sent traps? Literally, that cable shouldn't have been able to touch the storm, he had no adequate anti air for when storm is at the top of the screen. It should have been meter building, chip damage typhoon paradise.
And then the cable somehow misses the j.fp guard break?
Magneto can rom perfectly but can't do sj.lk on an incoming cable to put him in blockstun and guard break into rom, and actually gets hit by cable as cable comes in!?
There's more (I'm still trying to figure out how it's possible to drop captain america combos... it's literally just the magic series) but beyond a certain point I just accept it and move on lol.
I guess japanese marvel is better when they play characters I haven't so I don't see all the glaring "WTFFFF" moments.
In other news, LOLOLOLOLOL at a leaked bb:cs release date in time for evo right after BB gets pulled. Feel bad for the evo staff guys D=

oh that, they're just worse than us at it and i dont even think that's their best players
I think it's worth noting again that it's a kind of unique tournament in structure, and that it only happened at that one arcade (so not necessarily players all over). Every player can enter in many games as he wants, and the final results are kind of done ranbat-style in that you get more points the further you get in each tournament. For example, RF entered every game including MvC2, and he didn't win any of the games. But he accumulated the most points and got the highest point total at the end through decent showings in SF4, CvS2, 3s, and VS.
Of course for a game like MvC2 you probably had a decent number of specialists playing. I clicked around the results and saw Joo played MvC2. He went 1-1 in the tourney, though his game engine mastery (as we'll see shortly) is super godlike.

IIRC that date wasn't confirmed, only "summer 2010."
I finally got to play TvC: UAS tonight. The game is crack. =D
Tekkaman Blade is amazing. Block string -> assist + cross-up command dash -> 17-22k combo is strong, though vulnerable to 2A-mashing, so you have to mix it up. Fireball assist + air dash -> j.C / j.2C gimmicks are fun, but can be risky due to landing lag (esp. if you don't have a good assist). His 236A+B level-1 super hits EXTREMELY fast and is great for punishing blocked/pushblocked moves or whiffs. It's at least as fast as Morrigan's level-3 and travels a lot farther, however it's not invincible.
(Oh, I forgot to try empty-Baroque-ing his command dash for throw gimmicks and fake crossups. I don't know if you can but I'll definitely have to try it next time.)
Frank West has poopy normals from what I could tell. Also, his giant beam super is unsafe on hit against Ryu, who can just shinku hadouken him back for free damage. =/
Karas can still be annoying to fight, but he's definitely not as dominating as he used to be. Teams without him are actually feasible, now.
With all the baroque cancels, pushblock, variable counters, instant air dashes, and so on, the game feels more like Arcana Heart than anything else.

it still has a lot of things that aren't DC or arcade perfect and it drops frames that the arcade and DC didn't (especially if it's on the new filters or widescreen mode). thankfully they chose the ps3 one not the 360... on 360 the first time you superjump or a the first time a 2nd or 3rd character comes on the screen the game drops a LOT of frames.
magneto's ROM is slightly different timing (i think it's easier? not sure I don't play magnus), as is cyclops infinite, cammy's super is missing some invincibility frames, megaman buster shot gets canceled by hailstorm when it shouldn't, a few other things, pretty much anything involving a random number generator is a little bit off (tending to extremes more than on DC, this mostly affects chip supers. they kind of fixed this in the patch but not perfect).
at least thankfully the unblockable air hyper viper beam was fixed... most of the glitches are just non-gameplay related thankfully or with characters nobody gives a fuck about anyway

SF4 kinda stole that games regular playerbase, whereas 3s has a lot of people who only got into it in the last 5 years and its still kinda fresh to them or its the only SF game they play.
in alabama in casuals marvel is more alive than SF4. basically almost not all but still bigger than 3S. I haven't even seen 3S booted up in the last 4-5 months. It's like me and this other guy for SF4, but for marvel there's like at least 7 people in my town and 8 more people down 30 minutes the road. i'm kind of tired of how bad the low tiers are on this game... like Storm is my favorite character on any fighting game, but I really like some people like Cammy and stuff but she just needs that 8way airdash and flightmode so bad she's not even on the same game its just some mugen ass shit... and she's a "high tier". I love bbhood too but ain't shit she can do to catch Storm and she has no tools against sentinel stomping on her.. so much of a love/hate relationship with this game... i mean i knew what i was getting into when i started playing this game but it still hurts despite me knowing how broken it is. it hurts because i love the game. thankfully i like at least playing with storm or doom vs. other top tiers thats really fun.
more people play it than HDR on XBL and marvel netcode is GARBAGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and playing against magnus online is more stupid than magnus in person when he warps 3/4 the way through all his trijumps.
edit lol sorry for always ranting nonsense on here
You can't play marvel on GGPO because it still hasn't been properly emulated. And magnus' rom I don't know if I'd call it easier, but a neutral light kick will link after addf lk, which isn't supposed to work. And the cyke infinite isn't timed differently, you simply can't do it on xbox =(.
Was just looking up some T.Blade combos on SRK. Found out he has ridiculous damage for no meter and no baroque. Combined with his sick mixup game, if he gets in your face with baroque (for pressure) and an assist (for the cross-up), you're likely going to find yourself in a 37k+ combo (or 27k if his relaunch combo turns out to be incredibly hard).
I have a feeling I'm going to be making a lot of people quit TvC very soon... Oh well, there's always MBAA.

...?
Im playing ryu/t.blade atm, no clue what combos youre talking about though haha
how do you crank the damage up that high (unless youve just got a ton of baroque)
2b, c, 3c, jaabb dj 2c, mashy c move, baroque, 3c, repeat into mashy c again xx super is my bnb atm
I really don't understand his mixup game yet tbh aside from calling assist and randomly doing the crossup move during blockstrings, what sick mixups do you have that are landing 37k+ combos? I gotta tourney coming up, need to know! xD
I usually play him like cable in marvel, save up a ton of meter as ryu, then with t.blade on point wait for opponent to do a laggy move, pushblock and super lol. 4C (armored) -> super a lot too
Off his assist though, ryu can do some really goofy resets with stuff like whatever into 421C and call t.blade as the donkey kick connects, then dash once and dont walk forward much to fake crossup, or dash once + walk forward to cross before they land. In corner you can do some really odd things but the only one I've gotten to be 100% consistent is standard donkey kick combo into a, b, c xx 214b, call t.blade on 2nd hit of tatsu, a, b, 6b (reset overhead) xx 421A is only donkey kick version that will combo. Alternatively, you could just baroque the 6b and do a full ground combo again, but I think most people would mega crash as soon as you activate.
Edit: wow, just saw some of those combos on srk. Holy hell this guy can pack a punch.

Just doing P, 214A during a blockstring at different times. Its only weakness seems to be people mashing A, but they can't mash during the entire string because 5B and 2B will hit them (however, they CAN mash out between 2B and 5C on block ).
Without Baroque, there aren't a lot of places where you can do this, but with Baroque I imagine there's much more you can do. At the very least, make the block string longer so you can insert the cross-up later. Maybe Baroque the start-up of 214x to fake a cross-up once they start blocking it consistently? (Or even just call out your assist without doing 214x, if they're using that to anticipate the cross-up.) Maybe Baroque, jump, and do an ambiguous j.C cross-up.
Also, I didn't know his 4C had super armour (in fact, I didn't know he had a 4C at all until I got home and checked SRK <_< ). Thanks for letting me know. I'll try using it after 5A 5B 2B (all blocked) and see if it stuffs 2A-mashers.
On February 11 2010 19:49 Trumpet wrote: Edit: wow, just saw some of those combos on srk. Holy hell this guy can pack a punch.
Wow, I didn't even see that one. I wonder if you'll get your assist back in time if you start the combo with P, 214A. Also, I wonder how the execution difficulty compares to the "3C, 9, j.B, j.236A, j.B, land" loop.
My team right now is Blade/Morrigan. The only good trick I've found with Morrigan on point is, when the opponent is in the corner, you can call Blade then jump forward, air dash a bit over their head and j.C. This seems to be one of the only ways to actually cross someone up in the corner by jumping over them, and if you do it "wrong" you won't cross-up even though it looks like you will. Assuming you do cross-up, you can combo 6C after the assist (because it knocks them back over her head) and follow-up with an air combo to put them back into the corner.
A neat gimmick with Morrigan is, if the opponent is rising next to you at midscreen for some reason, you can empty 623C baroque j.C for an ambiguous cross-up. I was hoping her DP would keep her close enough to the ground that I could actually land and do cross-up 5A instead, but it seems to put her too high in the air to make this really useful. Not to mention it only works mid-screen, and I can't think of why your opponent would ever rise next to you at midscreen.
I tried that trick where Morrigan does j.B, dj, air dash, j.C to prevent them from rolling forwards, which I saw being used very effectively in the original TvC: she would come down right beside them and just follow them as they rolled backwards. But when I tried it at midscreen, I ended up coming down on the opposite side of the screen from them. =/ It works fine in the corner, though, and the timing lets you do the aforementioned corner (fake) cross-up. Maybe I was doing it wrong...

Wonder what changes they made to Ken since Ken/Ryu team won SBO.

At our level, Karas earned the reputation of being a necessary character on any competitive team. Shortly thereafter, around Feb 2009, everyone quit TvC: CGoH.
Hopefully TvC: UAS can stay alive around here for more than 1 month.
