Did you try mashing A or DPing out of Zero's mixups, or was he covered properly by his assists? I've found that most of his BS, like T.Blade's, can simply be mashed out of without careful assist timing.
What team did you use, btw?
Edit: actually, can you give any specific examples of mixups or setups that he did? I'm trying to learn Zero's and Yatterman-2's tricks before our own tourney 2 weeks from now.
I was playing Ryu/T.blade, which is apparently now considered top tier. First game I choose character based off looks and playstyle alone and Im still tier whoring, so good :>
well, a lot of the mixups were crossup based at the end of air combos, using the command dash I think to control whether he falls straight down or diagonally, very little time to mash dp out of that, he lands first so hes at advantage, mashing a wouldnt work there. another common one was during a blockstring (I think during c... the multi hit big green sword slash) he'd call cashan to cover his teleport to the other side so that it wasn't punishable. If he didnt have cashan, he'd baroque the dash teleport to make it safe (you actually can bbq it early enough to cross and recombo on the other side, looks goofy as hell).
I'll try to get some specific info for ya soon. I've got one video of him playing I think. Our camera battery died after recording three matches T_T
I can definitely understand marvel players not liking this game at all. Just expected some bit of crossover at least, as opposed to almost none there is currently, here at least.

OH SNAP! LET'S GO FAKESTEVE!
Actually, there are at least 3 tournaments taking place that weekend throughout Canada, all in different parts of the country (Edmonton / Waterloo / Montreal).
Trumpet: I'll see if I can learn those Zero mixups this week. I tried to improvise some air combo resets into teleport the last time I tried him, but didn't really find much. Baroqueing his ground teleport crossup seems so obvious in retrospect, lol.
Has anyone seen anything beastly with Yatterman-2 or Frank West? I know Y2 has a run into an overhead that could be useful with the help of an assist and/or her robot buddy, but aside from that, I'm not really impressed by what I've seen. Low damage output, and the robot super seems like a waste of a bar if the opponent can just run away from it for the duration. The only thing dangerous that I saw was an unblockable loop in the corner with Polimar's assist, but I'm sure there are ways to escape it, e.g. VC, DPs, or supers.
As for Frank West, I know he has some high damage combos and some grab resets (vids posted by trag), but that's the extent of my knowledge. I still think his normals are trash, and I don't know what kinds of mixups he actually has, so I don't see him as much of a threat yet, compared to Zero or even the vanilla chars.
And then there's Joe the Condor. I know pretty much nothing about him. =/
okay as far as not antiairing the jump goes: safely antiairing a good dhalsim player w/ sagat is extremely hard because of all that teleport shit.
well, okay we can see that he tried to do a high tiger shot and got counterhit.... hm. the high tiger shot is questionable. I can wonder if he was going for a tiger uppercut or i can wonder the reasoning behind the high tiger shot. both honestly seem like bad ideas to me at this point. the tiger uppercut to wait for any post-empty jump shit makes a lot of sense, though unsafe. but who gives a fuck you're saggot anyway you got a lotta health. on the other hand the fireball.... i don't know. would've been excellent on block/hit to establish a more comfortable positioning but the high one is questionable, sure it's faster and more plus frames but i dont think that matters much when dhalsim is gonna crouch in your face... honestly i need to know a lot more about the dhalsim matchup to comment on this. i don't know about how others feel about this as i might be completely off but he feels like he is has one of the better matchups vs. sf4 sagat along w/ viper and akuma. people been claiming lately that the claw matchup is pretty terrifying because sagat dies so hard to vortexes of deception but i haven't seen it myself all i see is claw getting taiga knee trapped and then not being able to get out of that so i dont know.
doing the slide to super.... eh, not a bad idea in that situation, i guess but really fucking weird at least.
also, arguably mr. saggot got mindfucked as you can see by him jumping onto the ultra at the end.
The distance on the jump was kind of awkward to antiair TU I guess, and Sagats are always suspecting the usual teleport back. s.HK maybe would get beaten by j.HP into ground combo if done too late. I can see why the whole jump went undisturbed.
The high tiger shot is what I had trouble figuring out. As you say, botched (supposed to be TU), intentional, or mindfucked? At least the slide xx super is safe on block (-5, while TU is 5 frames startup) at that distance I think. I think it was a sound play, if totally crazy and out of character after all of that safe textbook play. Random ftw.
Dhalsim vs. Sagat is slightly in Dhalsim's favor or at least even, I agree.
i thought about it more some and then i realized that there might be a way to throw a high tiger shot at a point in dhalsim's jump that catches most jumpins but also the back teleport? perhaps it even can autocorrect if timed correctly to hit crossup teleport?.... this is speculation on my part completely i'll try to test it when i get home but its such a weird idea. sf4 is filled with these kind of option selects though so i wouldn't be surprised... on the other hand it may have been possible as an empty jump because you land faster out of empty jump...

i know its online and shit unfortunately but Alioune is the best sagat player outside of japan probably and its an interesting match for me in this vid
i think the people that say claw beats sagat are probably full of shit... dude just cant do shit on wakeup hes almost like a 3S character trying to get up no sir
