I've read those guides, but thank you anyways. I was looking for a more descriptive guide for getting items for characters and play styles. I am also not too good at activating items for/in battle, so those aren't very useful to me. I don't think that I've perfected the right chase/run time after a battle, so G marchers are better for me I think, unless I get E parasite. I didn't notice parasite weakens you so much, i guess in noob games no one focus fires enough. It is great for farming and regaining health or escaping/chasing though, it basically gets me back the $$, just later on. My normal item build is 2 sets of runes, and either PS stuff or one of the ring/bracelet/talisman (i like to random, I still need to play all of the characters). Then I go into GM or steam B, then I just get the best items out of the recommended list. For dps characters wingbow/charged hammer if i can, hammer first normally. Sometimes Geometers Bane or K. sheepstick, but I am not good at activating them at the right time. How about A. shroud, that seems to help squishys in nooby games, not many people buy eyes. I've played with my friend who is better, in non em and higher psr games, and I can manage to not die much, I just cant help much in team fights unless the character i chose doesn't require me to be in the middle of the fights, I like to stay on the edge and go 0-0-1 rather than1-1-2 in the battles. I guess this just takes experience to know when you need to get out, but I don't make a good tank or carry. I also need to learn how to initiate team battles - do you stun first, or do certain characters skills make them, or tanks like legionaire port key, or does it depend on the other team too, and items... I guess this just comes from experience, nvm I've never played DotA, an about 130 games of HoN, but I haven't played all of the characters. I have played a lot of {pebbles, moon queen, chronos, andromeda} PSR currently 1297, 59-71, K / D / A: 2.4/5.4/6.1, or .4/1 so not very good. Thanks again

1. With EP you die a lot faster in teamfights too, you don't have to be focus-fired, usually the team will bring some (or a shitton of) AoE damage and you're fucked if you activate EP then. @ Crucifix: EP sucks on pred big time. He has horrible statgain (not enough hp) and he doesn't really need lifesteal. Getting +str/+dmg items for him is a priority, tanking gear comes next.
2. Shroud isn't very much useful because for the cash you spent on it (or similar cash) you can usually get better items (Nullifier blade for example) which give you more options and often add some form of a buff/debuff to your attack.
Let's compare the two items I mentioned:
Assassin's Shroud - costs 3400 total, gives you +10ias, +38dmg and stealth (which costs mana).
Nullifier Blade - costs 3300 total (basic, you can upgrade it later), gives you +22agi, +6int, 20pts mana combustion and purge on activation (limited number of uses, resets with upgrade).
So for a typical agi hero, NB gives you +22ias, +22/+37dmg (dmg from mc included if enemy has mana) and a double disable (mana drain = no more casting and purge = no more buffs/debuffs + slow, you can even remove jera's anti-magic shield with that). Increased agi and int will also improve your armour, mana points and mana regen rate.
As you can see, for 100 gold less, you get much more (in terms of dmg/versatility, you lose a portion of survivability provided by stealth) and you should always remember that items that give you +stats are usually better than +plain dmg/hp/mp etc.
3. To initiate fights you most likely need an initiator-type hero (Andromeda, Legionnaire, Kraken, Tempest, Chronos etc. basically any hero who can get to enemy fast and disable/disrupt them).
Hope it helps.

Ahh, true. I never really took a close look at the name. Thought it was Nullifier because of nullifying buffs/debuffs, mana void etc. etc. /dev/null
Edit: And imo vanguard sucks on spectre/sandwraith. You want to dissipate as much dmg as possible, not reducing it. Heart is the way to go.

It's gotten for the cheap health and regen. Heart is expensive and doesn't give AGI regen (they get damage from it). The damage reduction is kinda incidental on wraith, but still beneficial (gives you more autoattacks and more tics with Mock later on).
If you got vanguard for the damage reduction, Iron Shield would be an obvious alternative on Wraith...but the reduction isn't as important as the regen and health, which is why you don't see Iron Shield wraiths.

What? It gives you +str (hp + regen), +hp (more regen from heart). Doesn't give you dmg but increases your survivability quite significantly (+965hp and 7hp/sec regen just from the item).

He's saying that STR heroes get the .75% hp regen per second while AGI heroes get +10% all damage.
|
and what int heros get a novel 10% cooldown reduction

since dispersion is based on hp loss, vang is good for sand wraith because it calculates after all other armor calculation. It might make dispersion do overall less per hit, but sand wraith will be alive that much longer and do more damage in the long run.
Heart is too expensive to get before any other damage items, where as vanguard can be gotten early to sustain you through the early game ganks/team fights and into a strong mid-late game.

Steam Boots -> Radiance -> Vanguard Vanguard -> Boots -> Radiance -> Steam boots After this you may go for heart, but the game is probably already won anyway. "Why vanguard" Because I play in much better games and vanguard is a much better item. stfu and get it even in a shitty pub where you might not need it. Like srsly you often farm the jungle too after radiance especially seeing as you can pull 2 / 3 camps at once with rad depending where you are. And it's just fucking nice to be able to farm while not losing any hp and being able to help your team. Ok? So I don't wanna hear anymore of this vanguard hate.
Anyway Sand Wraith is the most fucking imbalanced hero in the entire game by leaps and bounds.
I heard of this dumb mother fucker who told me to get a hood on axe in the jungle once. Worst fucking decision of my life. Vanguard is a good item.
|
but the hood says you're a hoodlum don't f with me yo.
|
I remember when you tried the "hood jungle axe". Died to creeps....
|
ursa camps > testie's axe also, ranged creeps > testie's culling blade
and yeah, i always get vg on spectre. usually i just go boots/vg/radiance unless im farming well then ill get rad first (usually not worth it because you'll have your rad and like sub 1k hp, lol)
i go boots -> vg -> rad -> treads treads after vg if you're farming shitty
