By the way, I'd !support but I'm no longer active in competitive dota so my name/team name doesn't bring up reputation.
I would say the best way to get vouched fast is to find good team/players ring for their team and get known somewhat. It's pretty much a auto-vouch if someone really good like Drayich or if a bunch of above-average players from 50cal, gL, FD were to vouch for you. Those are all American teams btw if you want to try and find them. They are on irc and ggc a lot I think. I know they are on irc a lot, but I guess the best contacts people here at TL have is BigBlind since he's still active.
Also, don't pm vouchers to try to get them to look at your vouch, they will just close your vouch and you can't reapply for 3 weeks. It's a really tedious process, but like I said if you're a skilled player that's really all you have to work for. The games themselves are pretty fun since everyone got through the same way and for the most part know how to play dota at a higher level.

dxd is fine skill wise, its just american dota is so fucking talk talk talk talk and underperform (if that is even the case) so half their players end up being bm, arrogant, and complacent with their skill level because they play well in dxd, the amount of discussion (if it can even be called that) that goes into literally pointless league matches between american teams is incredibly dumb, and most of it is Y calls out X for playing horribly then a controlled flaming proceeds then the neo-scrub mentality sets in, prime example is some htgn na pro match thread, 6 pages about 2 players that aren't even great, like wow jlig.

thats funny cuz its the exact same way with american starcraft

Man, I guess I had it easy getting into IHCS lol. I just got vouched by Attackdruid- (he's a RL friend of mine) and went to play 2 games (both ardm at the time). I went 8-1 in the first one (against decent players, nobody of amazing status), and game 2 i went like 6-7 (i had to lane vs GodofGlory (who we raped until he got doom bringer and killed my shadow priest with doom =/))

I've kinda already outlined how it works before somewhere in these dota threads but I can't find it. Anyway there's two divisions, IHCS2 and IHCS1. IHCS2 is the larger and more active division. It is filled with players that are considered ' good ' on the international scale but not top tier aka the top team members. But it is not completely elite, there are some dumbasses that got in. I'd say around 1/15 people in IHCS2 are pretty bad. IHCS1 is simply elite, it's full of only members of teams like VP, MYM, TeamQ, x6, WG, SP, SK, etc. However, IHCS1 players play a lot in IHCS2 games because division 2 is more active, and sometimes friends of theirs aren't able to get into IHCS1. It's very, VERY difficult to get into IHCS1, if you even have to ask don't even bother. IHCS2 requires you filling out an application at the link I provided giving personal information. Competitive dota if you've played any, familiarity with irc, vent and ggc. Those are the 3 programs you must use to play IHCS. You must be able to provide competitive replay games that show your skill. It cannot be TDA, it can only be from other leagues or against teams of known skill. You may also be asked to solo lane against a ' tester ' who is usually a very good player, not extremely elite, but pretty damn good. You must also be very active in IHCS, if you do not play at least 2 games a week or something you pretty much decay in XP and must reapply all over again. You build experience on your account by playing games. It's like a ladder, the better players you take down the more points you get. In my first game, which was a RIDICULOUS replay that I posted, I played with negi and some other semi-knowns and we were down like 1-22 in the first 20 minutes against a team of XSK_Fanatic and some other really good guys. But we ended up winning and I only got like 30 points. It's really hard to get high on the IHCS ladder. Vent is REQUIRED even if you don't have a mic, you must sit in with your team. There's no fucking around either, ANYONE can censure you, which pretty much means that they think you sucked or did something bad, and with enough censures, mods look at your play and replays and decide if you're fit or not for IHCS anymore. Games are usually captain games, were two semi-known players will challenge each other, and people will sign up. If you aren't known or new, it's really fucking hard to get into a captain game. It took me 3 days after getting vouched to finally get into one. Since everyone's stats show up in IRC and I was 0-0-0 it was risky for captains to pick me. The most popular game mode is kinda like -rd except for the bot gives out a pool of heroes and the captains pick the heroes. You WILL be assigned a hero and YOU will be expected to play your role perfectly if you're playing with any semi-known players. If you play thd or pugna and you don't buy wards, you WILL get censured and you might as well say goodbye to IHCS. The hardest part though, if you are a SKILLED player is getting vouched. So many people try to get into IHCS and it's like TLnet in the sense that the mods can do whatever they feel like. They don't have to look at your application. It helps to have people vouch for your skill in your thread or !support you. It took me about a month of work of getting my name out to decent players/teams and getting enough recent competitive replays to get into IHCS. I had players from the old trNs, vTs, gL vouch for me but even that was almost not enough because those are American teams, which at that time were not seen as extremely skilled. Remember, you're playing with the big boys of dota pretty much. Btw the majority of those teams had members already in IHCS. You need 3 vouchers to support you, and only 3 vouchers. There's a lot of different categories of admins over there. My 3 vouchers were Hawwk, PenguinQ, and ...hmm shit I forgot and the search function is down right now on the IHCS forum. Anyway, point is it's hard to play and get in but it's worth it if you want the best in dota and are looking to get known and be competitive. I eventually quit playing there because it was mostly europeans and wasn't busy when I was on, and I didn't like playing with strangers even if they were really really good. I was worried about making my team better at that time. No regrets though, IHCS is really awesome.
where can i find that ridiculous replay

If it had long range then maybe it will be worth it to get 1 level of scattershot just watch out for ganks in nearby trees or something...

Yeah, this was my first game of IHCS. I couldn't farm the relic to save my life, I had some good jukes and bear recall blocks though, that's about it if you're looking for anything in particular. Basically the replay is ridiculous because we're down 1-22 at one point but still end up winning. The player lucky is from the korean team xDT)Lucky[yes the clan led by scout with his infamous antimage]. I guess him and Fanatic are the most known from that replay.
Edit: Btw Alv I don't recognize your friend's name but if he has any position at all it's easy for 3 vouchers to just say ' ok ' to you joining IHCS. Also, they might have changed the application slightly but from what I know it's still similar to what I described to get in.

I'm just curious to some opinions, but if you're a player that can smash TDA/HLR1 and like basically never lose those games, in CAL terms, what would you be?
I know CAL is bad, but I was in CAL at one time, so It's something that I can compare to. Plus there are different levels of the league. It's kinda hard to compare it to like HTGN, since HTGN only has two levels. Lol
I wish I stuck to DotA, I'd probably be in IHCS2. I knew a few people from IHCS2 and I have FD members on my GGC Buddy List, along with the captains of several teams from the first GGC NA tourny. Replays wasn't a problem ether with all the Scrimming I used to do, also with FD. At one point, I had the pass to the IHCS room in GGC.
Too bad I dropped DotA, come back, and now suck. =3...comparatively speaking, not TL speaking. ROFL! Haha
IMO we should Soldier FH tonight. =3

you know what would make scattershot useful? lower mana cost to 100 and increased cd, then you need a ministun like old spec's dispersal to each scattered particle, then it would be use-able because right now, its still useless because 200 gold wards that you are probably going to buy anyways will still be infinitely more useful than relying on a timed scatter that puts your sniper at even more risk at being 2 shotted in mid game.

theres IHCS an house on the hills with wonderful green lawns and then theres CAL...a house in compton waiting to be blown up by the next meth addict who inhabits it.
Even though I never (almost never) played in a IHCS game, the people who taught me the game were either IHCS or eventual IHCS players, watching them get 250 to 300 cs regularly in our in houses to see who can farm the rapier-aegis combo before the other, sight to witness.
Quitting Dota and coming back is somewhat difficult, I quit twice at the worst times, came back to the Scourge nerf and the Sent buff of 37 and then blink-stun gank style, now this new bullshit dagger/bottle nerf. Hard to change your mindset, but nothing you can't overcome by watching a few replays.

I don't think there is any player who can ' smash ' TDA/HLR1 easily and basically never lose games. Even these leagues that are considered low are hard to win on your own. You'd need players on your team who know what their doing or friends of yours on vent with you. I play pretty much only TDAs nowadays and even with 1 or 2 people who really know what they're doing or 2-3 friends on vent with me we still lose sometimes.
CAL-I definitely has skilled teams in it, people just don't have a reason to put value in CAL because in dota the reputation of being CAL champs means nothing, and there's no prizes. I'd say if you're really good at playing at playing at the TDA/HLR1 level you'd be about cal-im to cal-i.
If you are still friends with FD players and have the replays I don't see why you can't play again. To be brutally honest, it's not hard to get good at dota and I don't see a reason why someone would get progressively or noticeably worse. Even ezy and fear who were at the top of the game and didn't play for over a year were able to be picked up by MYM. Not that I think they are good enough for MYM but if you make an impression on Maelk you must be worth something.
Edit: If you are really serious I can get you a spot/tryout with a team that is led by my former-teammate. It has all the league spots that JLIG worked to achieve including CAL-I and HTGN-Pro. If teams like gL, FD, or vTs were looking for more players I could probably vouch for that too, but you'd have to play a few games with me so I could see if it was worth the effort.
