Do I Spend $40 USD On The Regular Edition OR $60 USD On The Deluxe Edition? You only need to buy the $40 USD standard edition. Purchasing the "Digital Deluxe" or "Super Citizen" edition for ~$60 USD is a luxury that just makes it easier/faster to get advanced weapons and armour. The "Super Citizen Edition" comes with the Premium Battle Pass for free. The Premium BattlePass is called "Premium Warbond : Steeled Veterans". This costs 1000 "Super Credits". The "Super Credits" are the premium in game currency. 1000 "Super Credits" amounts to ~$10 USD. You can acquire "Super Credits" in game easily and routinely. I already have 250 Super Credits and I've mainly been screwing around. The Premium Battle Pass is 1000 Super Credits. If I focused on it I could probably amass 1000 Super Credits in a weekend of playing and I'm a 5/10 mediocre FPS player. A good FPS player can probably acquire 1000 Super Credits in one day.
The Free Battle Pass has the ability to acquire "Super Credits" as well.
If are pressed for time and have lots of spare cash buying the $60 USD "Super Citizens Edition" is a good idea. If not, go with the $40 USD Standard Edition. I got the "Super Citizen Edition" because I have more money than brains.
20/02/2024: A patch today cleared up a lot of "Quick Match" issues. You can now jump in on other people's missions very easily. The team must request emergency help for you to be able to jump in.
21/02/2024: There are global level macro campaigns revolving around "Defending" a bunch of planets. Currently, the global community has 8 days left to win at least 8 "Defend Campaigns". So far, 3 have been done. I suspect teh developer or the game itself tunes the difficulty of defending a planet is in order to make sure the Campaign has somewhere near a 50/50 shot at success.
Seems like a fun game but what about the anti cheating software that supposedly might conpromise your computer? I believe it's called nGuard Protect. Don't know alot about it, but giving a third party root access is for many a red flag. Maybe someone else more knowledgeable can share some insight?
the fastest way to skip the queue is to join a friend's game via the Steam friends list. the CEO guy stated an auto AFK kick is coming in a patch so people can't just hang out in the game for hours. Only one time since I bought the game have I had to wait a long time if I chose not to skip the queue. I'm in the north east USA. Usually I wait 0 to 10 minutes when going straight into the game and not using the skip the queue trick.

No sacrifice is too great when defending America, Freedom, Democracy, and the United States Federal Treasury! ! ! Every second you delay a Helldiver mission more innocent civilians lives are at risk.
Game has great vibes and just incredible attention to detail when it comes to enemy design and animations. Of you are prone when reloading the animation is different if you are face down or face up.
Bugs and bots are completely different but either faction is both impressively coherent within themselves but varied in actual units. You can tell they're all the same team but have clear differences on how to fight them and for from them.
When the servers have capacity and quick match works good its going to be worth the wait.
I have 500 "Super Credits" Premium Currency now. I'm level 10.
EDIT: I'm getting into the game instantly. Ubanea, a planet where a defense attempt was made, has fallen to the Automatons. LOL. 100% Automaton control.
I'm on Steam. I'm in upstate New York,North east USA... playing with friends in Toronto, Washington DC, and Florida. Servers are working great for every one. No lag. Buttery smooth.
SPECULATION: Alien race enters the edge of the map in a few months. This new race wins every planetary war and makes a direct line to earth over the course of several weeks or months. There is a month long war on Mars. The humans lose. A $40 expansion pack is introduced and this time next year there is a "battle for the survival of the human race" on planet Earth in the center of the galaxy map.
In order to do the fighting on earth... you will have to buy the $40 expansion pack. You'll be able to fight other places with the base game. However, the most crucial fighting ... for the future of human existence ... will require $40. LOL

Wow Jimmy. Assuming the worst of the devs with absolutely no merit at all. And why wouldn't they charge for an expansion pack? Destiny did it for years and successfully so.

Helldivers 1 ended up with 4 enemy races/factions. It'll be interesting to see the new races/factions introduced in Helldivers 2.
More races are coming for sure. Apparenty even Mechs for Helldivers are an option. Will see

Why would the publisher offer a 17% discount so soon after a super successful release?
It's probably not a planned dev discount but rather a currency discount where the game in developing countries is cheaper and sites like this buy and resell steam keys cheaper that way

Where do I say this is bad? I look forward to more content. I want to see New YOrk, Paris and Tokyo get "Blowed Up Real Good".
The game is a great deal for $40. Based upon Arrowhead's previous actions I project they'll give consumers $40 worth of content if they charge $40 for an expansion next year.
Arrowhead does not even have merchandise for the Helldivers franchise. So they are not trying to drain every dime for the pockets of its biggest fans. It'll be interesting to see how much longer places like Redbubble will continue to sell Helldivers Merch.
Two days left to complete 8 "Defend Campaigns" and only 5 are complete. The selfish XP Farmers are thinking of their own petty atomic individual self interests rather than fighting for managed democracy, liberty and freedom!
Level 14 now. Yesterday first successfull mission on 6 - Extreme. Loadout(mostly): Redeemer, Breaker, Autocannon Autocannon/ Guard Dog, Eagle Napalm, Orbital EMS, Orbital Strike/ 120 Barrage Just playing what is fun, no min-maxing, no tierlist, no "you have to play THIS build 1000000000x DMG"
Some people are whining because Arrowhead deleted Steam posts requesting Arrowhead should never permit purchasable rainbow flags in the cosmetic items shop. LOL. Other people are complaining that Steam posts requesting rainbow flags in the cosmetic items shop are being deleted by Arrowhead.
Tellin' ya, you can't make this stuff up!
These people do not realize that in 2084 we're living in a perfect utopian society. I asked a Ministry of Truth Information Agent and he said we always lived in a perfect utopian society.
Too bad there is no PvP in this game. We could have each side in this debate go at in on Malevalon Creek as teh Automatons take over the entire damn planet!
Anyone else thinking about how much Blizzard must be kicking themselves for never making a game like this set in the SC universe? It's a perfect fit (both Helldivers and SC take a ton of inspiration from Starship Troopers anyway). Besides SC Ghost (which was a single player game although they seemed to be adding on a halo-like multiplayer mode before cancelling IIRC) they apparently had a Battlefield-like Starcraft FPS game in development around 2018-2019 before getting shut down to go all-hands on deck for Diablo (around the time of mass talent exodus in the studio).
I love Helldivers 2 right now and of course I would still prefer an actual RTS starcraft to a shooter starcraft. But still, imagine a world where we got multiple types of SC games post SC2 instead of zero
Yeah... StarCraft 2 ending was so fucking stupid that not even Blizzard can undo the cluster**** that it created. Let's not get into what Diablo has become since the disbanding of Diablo North that was actually working on Diablo 3 when everyone was fired, or let go. Everyone at Blizzard North have vowed to never return, ever. It's what happens when MBA's become heads and not artists and those that actually play the games etc.

thanks for the laughs guys. You people sound like old men yelling at 12 year olds whose basketball bounced on to your front lawn. Diablo 3 sold 12 million copies in its first year and went on to become one of the top 10 sold games of all time within 3 years with over 30 million copies sold. Diablo3 was incredibly awesome for the Nintendo Switch.
Diablo 3 was a great game. Now, I do not like the genre. I don't like Diablo1,2,3, or 4. However, long term engagement is objective proof of quality. Blizzard the developer, and Activision the publisher did a great job.
Check this out! Someone raised more than $2.3 million USD on a Kickstarter campaign so they could 3D Print a small Helldivers statue! As we know 3D printing is really expensive... as is ocean front property in Huntington Beach California.

Steam never has lag and no one gets kicked unless they are supposed to get kicked. Also, do not drink Bud Light or eat Doritos while playing Helldivers2. But now there appears to be an issue where players might not be able to enter the dropship because the door enters the world, so one has to crawl or crouch to get in. Hopefully an emergency hotfix is being worked on.

So how do you the help civilians escape on helldive? That is still just ridiculous. The best I could do so far was 35/ 60. They get blocked all the time and with 5 Titans and 4 Chargers on the map I'm kinda busy surviving myself

Yeah lol just yesterday I was playing on difficulty 7 or 8 and we were at the last objective when Joel decided "You will not finish this mission" and dropped 8 dropships directly on top of us bringing 2 tanks, 4 hulks and a shitload of devestators. I was shooting a tank in the weak spot with an EAT and it just didn't care. What the hell is this. After 10 minutes of ring around the rosie we at least finished but with no lives left and without extraction
Also has anyone played the first Helldivers game, is the third race some type of electrical/arc type of enemy? Cause that is all the armor defends against in the Cutting Edge Warbond's page...
Going to try this later this week. But there still needs to be an Automatons patch with some nerfs, if not some weapons buffs and stratagem cooldown buffs as well.
i don't mind the current state of balance in the game. i'm having fun. my group of Steam friends is having fun. To better frame my view I should acknowledge that i play about 5 hours a week. I suspect Arrowhead bases a lot of their decisions on the 5 hours per week or less player.

That new defense mission is really fun. Though I don't think the Major Order can be done (probably on purpose) and the "help civilians escape" missions still suck balls

When doing bug missions I think our teams average kill counter is somewhere in the 1000. If you play with killing bugs in mind you could probably easily escalate that to a 2000.
Depends on the mission. I know too many players who think they have to kill/engage every bug they see. As if the mission is secondary to killing bugs. That annoys the shit out of me lol.

This is scummy behaviour by Sony. If the details of this press release are an error then what other errors will Sony make? How long before Sony accidentally deletes my game(s)? https://www.imdb.com/news/ni64473640/
Its looking like offline games on community servers are the way to go. So its EA NHL '94, C&C games, Borderlands, Fire Pro Wrestling and emulation games for me. That means it is good bye to SC2, WWE 2K2X, and Helldivers2.
No it isn't. It takes a few mins to create a PlayStation account you don't even a PS to have one. The agreement has also been in writing on Steam but the server issues pushed it back. Xbox, EA etc. all have the same agreements when it comes to their games.
ya, mandating i have to do it between May 30 and June 4 is scummy. That small window of time was not in the agreement. Sony is pretty scummy to start off with... this just adds to it.
Sony is blocked on the network i'm on. Furthermore, I won't be online in the last week of May and first week of June.
Current Steam players will receive mandatory login prompts starting on May 30, and they must link their Steam account to their PSN account before June 4.
its not that big of a deal. if i lose my account... meh. its just a video game. it was fun though.

I do not have to have a PSN account to play the Sony published game "Fire Pro Wrestling World" on Steam. And as we all know.. that is an awesome multiplayer game.
So Sony and Arrowhead took money from people in countries without PSN. They knew those people could not continue playing HD2 due to the upcoming change of the network conditions. Yet, they had nothing in place for them when tehy dropped the hammer.
Ironically, Sony claims they are protecting humanity by monitoring their PS Network.
If I were stuck in a retro arcade with a bunch of really cool old school arcade games with someone else....I'd rather be stuck in the arcade with a Bear than a SOny Exec.
If you live in the Ukraine you must buy a PS4 or PS5 in order to register for a PSN account. So although the Ukraine is technically a country that has PSN access you have to buy the Sony hardware to play Helldivers2 on Steam. LOLOL
blah blah blah blah...
"It's because the decision is not ours. Nothing to with bad customer support. We don't know," said Thomas "Twinbeard" Petersson, one of Arrowhead's community managers, in reply to someone in the official Helldivers Discord server criticizing the developer's lack of a clear answer for region-locking concerns. "You can always ask Sony, but until the[y] offer us a more detailed response, we'll reply to the best of our ability with the limited info we have. Should there have been a FAQ? Yes." The original announcement post was also written entirely by the publisher.
Mine got denied because the purchase was over 14 days ago...
perhaps try something like this...
It prolly also helps if you've never refunded a game in the past. I've refunded 1 game and then I repurchased the game once the issue was resolved. So my refund history won't hinder my attempt if I do so.
Mine got denied because the purchase was over 14 days ago...
Also have gotten denied 4 times since the news transpired on Friday due to 90h playtime, but gotta keep trying, as apparently for some people that also wouldn't normally qualify it was refunded.
To some extent I feel bad because the game itself is awesome and I had so much fun with it, but that alone doesn't suffice in today's market and I'm just fed up with being treated like a moron as customer, so I also like seeing some pushback from players to dumb-af exec decisions like this which could've been avoided SO. GOD DAMN. EASILY. by either just sitting back and being hands-off or offering some incentive for people to play along (hand out some (cosmetic) reward for creating/linking PSN).
Only thing Sony ensured is that I will try to avoid buying any of their product like the plague from now on.
This is the quote of the thread right here. I called this shit a month ago.

I find it ironic how Sony tried to argue at the FTC that Microsoft buying Acti-Blizz would somehow threaten their entire existence because they would lose access to Call of Duty after 5? or 10? years because they don't have their own successful multiplayer shooter, THEN they pull this shit. You literally had a goose laying golden eggs. You had a successful multiplayer game and then you decided to smother it with a pillow in its sleep for no goddamn good reason. You pissed away any good will you had on PC.
Everybody sucks here unfortunately, first and foremost I hope that there will be an acceptable solution for people from countries without direct PSN access, as those guys legitimately got screwed big time by this, for the rest of us this might end up with us paying for another lesson in 'how to get f***ed', but on a positive note at least a portion of people are slowly starting to grow weary of this 3rd party account and game launcher idiocy and push back a little.
Best outcome of this would be Steam just disallowing this 3rd party account practice altogether, although this is quite unrealistic, of course.
Still regrettable that it had to be this game, but Sony just lost this game of hot potato and it's really important that companies get a little reality check from time to time, even if it's short lived to at least tone down the probing for weaknesses in their attempts to erode consumer rights and gain more control for some time.
Sony changed their web site and the EULA after the fact. LOL. So amongst teh FAQ, EULA/ToS, Sony Web site, and Steam page only a small note on the Steam page indicated a 3rd party sign up in mandatory. All other sources stated a 3rd party sign up is not required.
Sony has had 6 consumer data breaches in a little over 10 years. Sony states they are trying to "protect us".
Regarding Arrowhead and their CMs and their CMs idiotic messaging recently and years ago...
Do not fall for this "we are creative visionaries who make fun games .... Sony calls the shots..we're the good guys". Its a bunch of BS. Arrowhead Games took Sony's money when they handed over the Helldivers IP. Arrowhead Games CASHED OUT. When they cashed out they surrendered their creative autonomy for money. Arrowhead Games by definition is all about the money.
Spitz trying to play the "good cop" doesn't fly. His first instinct is to take dumb uninformed cheap shots at the player base. He explained it away with some emo BS. If he can not handle the pressure of bad situations that all CMs absorb then he needs to find another line of work. CMs are target dummies the corpos throw in front of the player base to deflect incoming fire from angry players. Always have been... always will be.
Ghost of Tsushima will release in a week on steam and had the same requirement (PSN acc) They scratched that as well apparently. Maybe Sony learned something after all.

Unlikely The player count barely dipped even with the massive number of negative reviews and social media outcry Now that Sony turned back on that, the whole thing will be forgotten in days for Helldivers 2, let alone any other game, especially a well-known/acclaimed one
And the game itself is still amazing, with more incoming content, so more people will be brought it
As a funny outro to this whole drama, though, Arrowhead's CEO tweeted about turning the negative reviews graph into an in-game cosmetic
The people who have learned something won't be vocal about it. Their actions will speak louder than their words.
The MODs got into their feels during this thing. LOL. Its just a silly, stupid, for idiotic-fun video game and these weirdos somehow think it and they are important.

I've checked the store page on Steam just now and like with Helldivers 2 they apparently did not update anything, yet or it's just in the process of being propagated, do you have any other source of information for this? Last thing I've heard was that they've planned on having the requirement solely for the multiplayer portion of the game, while leaving the singleplayer optional.
Anyway, as insignificant this pushback might be in the grand scheme of things when it comes to how corporations are literally flipping the finger to customers, this at least has an immediate positive effect on people's ability to play and enjoy the game they purchased without any additional strings attached (at least for now, that is).
Just so you are aware, A PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the singleplayer game.

Helldivers 2 just banned some more countries from buying the game, they're up to 170 now. Ghosts has followed.
The only reason that i can really imagine for that is Sony planning on enforcing PSN again later, because that blacklist was added due to PSN not being legal in those specific countries.

20 years ago people were talking about the death of PC. Now it seems consoles are the ones that are shrinking in importance (Nintendo's wide moat niche notwithstanding). Sony is just flailing. They see the need to move in to the PC market but they have no idea what they are doing. It reminds how of how many Japanese companies started embracing the PC market but have all sorts of problems with their ports.
Valve stated Sony required the ending of sales in countries without PSN. Today, people in those countries still can not buy the game. LOL. Did Sony get Justin Trudeau to write that PR statement. . What a bunch of scum buckets Sony is.
So if I live in the Philippines or Egypt or Iran and I am loving the game I can't get my friends to play with me? That is silly nonsense.
My #1 employee and gaming playing partner other than my wife lives in Iran ~6 months a year. So now, I can't play with him? LOL.
I suspect Sony will no longer allow countries outside the PSN areas to buy Helldivers2. I do not think Sony is reversing this decision. SONY's SILENCE SAYS IT ALL.
Any how, I'm out. I had a blast for ~130 hours. As I've stated previously, when you buy a game on a proprietary server it is best to treat it like it is a Coin-Operated Arcade Game sitting inside your local Sports Bar//Billiard Hall. One day it'll get removed by the giant corp or the facility owner.
There is a community server software you can use to play Helldivers 1 so that you do not need Steam. So for Helldivers fans outside of the PSN countries they can always play Helldivers1. Of course, you'd be breaking their "Terms of Service". LOL.
One of the reasons I'm a big proponent of piracy is due to the actions of Sony in this matter. Other publishers do this same kind of BS as well and have been doing so for 50 years. Mattel and Atari screwed over its customers super hard in the 1970s and the anti consumer behaviour has been going on non stop since then. The video game industry is super scummy.
SPECULATION There must be a power struggle going on between Arrowhead and Sony because Arrowhead must get some kind of money reward for increased sales #s. Arrowhead wants you to be able to play the game even if you are on the North Pole or living in Antarctica because it increases sales #s. Sony wants control. Sony wants control of its customers and the game studios that make the games. Sony wants the same kind of control Nintendo demands. Sony does not want huge sales #s outside of the PSN connected countries because then other Game Studios will demand this same luxury.

Steam's chart #s indicate your opinion is common among the player base. 40,000 playing now. :D
Is Helldivers still holding up? Was wondering if anyone has played both Helldivers and the new WH40K Space Marine 2 and if one is worth getting over the other.
Just got a big patch and a big surge of players got added. Helldivers2 is a $40 game and it has the breadth and scope of what you'd expect from a $40 game. The "Warbonds" can easily be earned with in game currency you can find laying around on the ground during Mission Activities. Check post #1 here. No need to buy the $60 version.
HD2 was downvoted on Steam due to a bunch of business decisions and unethical moves by Sony. They shut out a bunch of people in a bunch of countries where the game was previously available making it impossible for current players to play with friends in their country.
Lately HD2 has been downvoted on Steam because original buyers are rather bored. Thing is , it is a $40 game. You are not getting new content like you would for 2005 WoW and paying $15/month. Many people don't take that into account and they just downvote.
My favourite type of Steam review is the guy who downvotes the game after 100 hours of play. However, he now has 1500 hours of play time.
The style of 3rd person shooter of Helldivers2 feels a lot like an FPS. The style of 3rd Person Shooter for WH40K:Space Marine 2 feels very different from an FPS. There are a lot of Melee Combos , executions, Parry and Dodge mechanics in Space Marine2 NOT normally present in an FPS. I'd say WH40K:SM2 "feels" much more like Gears of War. No cover system like Gears of War though.

IMO Helldivers 2 is a bit more sandboxy stupid coop fun while Space Marine 2 is more story driven. And I think SM2 is capped at 3 players total? HD2 has 4 player
I refunded Space Marine 2. I get why some people think the 3rd Person combo/timing melee combat is awesome. It is just not for me.
Here is my rankings of best combat in these kinds of games..
#1) Halo Infinite FPS combat #2) Borderlands3 FPS with subtle and meaningful verticality #3) HD2 3rd person FPS style combat #4) Halo 1,2,3 FPS combat. Not enough verticality. #5) Destiny 2 FPS ... Too much verticality.
I do not like Gears of War and Space Marine 2 style of 3rd person combat.
This list is subjective. There are tonnes of people who love GoW and WH40K:SM2 combat.
Best thing you can do is play for a few hours. Steam refunds games for me when I have gone over their play limit. I request the money be put in my Steam wallet; I do not request the money back. Also , I gifted $2000 in games last year to others. Maybe that is also a factor.
