Sony is blocked on the network i'm on. Furthermore, I won't be online in the last week of May and first week of June.
Current Steam players will receive mandatory login prompts starting on May 30, and they must link their Steam account to their PSN account before June 4.
its not that big of a deal. if i lose my account... meh. its just a video game. it was fun though.

I do not have to have a PSN account to play the Sony published game "Fire Pro Wrestling World" on Steam. And as we all know.. that is an awesome multiplayer game.
So Sony and Arrowhead took money from people in countries without PSN. They knew those people could not continue playing HD2 due to the upcoming change of the network conditions. Yet, they had nothing in place for them when tehy dropped the hammer.
Ironically, Sony claims they are protecting humanity by monitoring their PS Network.
If I were stuck in a retro arcade with a bunch of really cool old school arcade games with someone else....I'd rather be stuck in the arcade with a Bear than a SOny Exec.
If you live in the Ukraine you must buy a PS4 or PS5 in order to register for a PSN account. So although the Ukraine is technically a country that has PSN access you have to buy the Sony hardware to play Helldivers2 on Steam. LOLOL
blah blah blah blah...
"It's because the decision is not ours. Nothing to with bad customer support. We don't know," said Thomas "Twinbeard" Petersson, one of Arrowhead's community managers, in reply to someone in the official Helldivers Discord server criticizing the developer's lack of a clear answer for region-locking concerns. "You can always ask Sony, but until the[y] offer us a more detailed response, we'll reply to the best of our ability with the limited info we have. Should there have been a FAQ? Yes." The original announcement post was also written entirely by the publisher.
Mine got denied because the purchase was over 14 days ago...
perhaps try something like this...
It prolly also helps if you've never refunded a game in the past. I've refunded 1 game and then I repurchased the game once the issue was resolved. So my refund history won't hinder my attempt if I do so.

Also have gotten denied 4 times since the news transpired on Friday due to 90h playtime, but gotta keep trying, as apparently for some people that also wouldn't normally qualify it was refunded.
To some extent I feel bad because the game itself is awesome and I had so much fun with it, but that alone doesn't suffice in today's market and I'm just fed up with being treated like a moron as customer, so I also like seeing some pushback from players to dumb-af exec decisions like this which could've been avoided SO. GOD DAMN. EASILY. by either just sitting back and being hands-off or offering some incentive for people to play along (hand out some (cosmetic) reward for creating/linking PSN).
Only thing Sony ensured is that I will try to avoid buying any of their product like the plague from now on.
This is the quote of the thread right here. I called this shit a month ago.

Its on a proprietary server... so i look at it like i just handed Sony $60X4 = 240 Quarters and I'm playing on an Arcade Cabinet at the local BIlliard/Snooker Hall. One day, the big company will come along and remove the arcade cabinet.
The Arcade Cabinet is being removed. I'll move on to other games.
I find it ironic how Sony tried to argue at the FTC that Microsoft buying Acti-Blizz would somehow threaten their entire existence because they would lose access to Call of Duty after 5? or 10? years because they don't have their own successful multiplayer shooter, THEN they pull this shit. You literally had a goose laying golden eggs. You had a successful multiplayer game and then you decided to smother it with a pillow in its sleep for no goddamn good reason. You pissed away any good will you had on PC.
Everybody sucks here unfortunately, first and foremost I hope that there will be an acceptable solution for people from countries without direct PSN access, as those guys legitimately got screwed big time by this, for the rest of us this might end up with us paying for another lesson in 'how to get f***ed', but on a positive note at least a portion of people are slowly starting to grow weary of this 3rd party account and game launcher idiocy and push back a little.
Best outcome of this would be Steam just disallowing this 3rd party account practice altogether, although this is quite unrealistic, of course.
Still regrettable that it had to be this game, but Sony just lost this game of hot potato and it's really important that companies get a little reality check from time to time, even if it's short lived to at least tone down the probing for weaknesses in their attempts to erode consumer rights and gain more control for some time.
Sony changed their web site and the EULA after the fact. LOL. So amongst teh FAQ, EULA/ToS, Sony Web site, and Steam page only a small note on the Steam page indicated a 3rd party sign up in mandatory. All other sources stated a 3rd party sign up is not required.
Sony has had 6 consumer data breaches in a little over 10 years. Sony states they are trying to "protect us".
Regarding Arrowhead and their CMs and their CMs idiotic messaging recently and years ago...
Do not fall for this "we are creative visionaries who make fun games .... Sony calls the shots..we're the good guys". Its a bunch of BS. Arrowhead Games took Sony's money when they handed over the Helldivers IP. Arrowhead Games CASHED OUT. When they cashed out they surrendered their creative autonomy for money. Arrowhead Games by definition is all about the money.
Spitz trying to play the "good cop" doesn't fly. His first instinct is to take dumb uninformed cheap shots at the player base. He explained it away with some emo BS. If he can not handle the pressure of bad situations that all CMs absorb then he needs to find another line of work. CMs are target dummies the corpos throw in front of the player base to deflect incoming fire from angry players. Always have been... always will be.
Ghost of Tsushima will release in a week on steam and had the same requirement (PSN acc) They scratched that as well apparently. Maybe Sony learned something after all.
Edit: Curious to see if the PC playerbase learned something, too and doesn't touch it with a 10ft pole

Unlikely The player count barely dipped even with the massive number of negative reviews and social media outcry Now that Sony turned back on that, the whole thing will be forgotten in days for Helldivers 2, let alone any other game, especially a well-known/acclaimed one
And the game itself is still amazing, with more incoming content, so more people will be brought it
As a funny outro to this whole drama, though, Arrowhead's CEO tweeted about turning the negative reviews graph into an in-game cosmetic
The people who have learned something won't be vocal about it. Their actions will speak louder than their words.
The MODs got into their feels during this thing. LOL. Its just a silly, stupid, for idiotic-fun video game and these weirdos somehow think it and they are important.

I've checked the store page on Steam just now and like with Helldivers 2 they apparently did not update anything, yet or it's just in the process of being propagated, do you have any other source of information for this? Last thing I've heard was that they've planned on having the requirement solely for the multiplayer portion of the game, while leaving the singleplayer optional.
Anyway, as insignificant this pushback might be in the grand scheme of things when it comes to how corporations are literally flipping the finger to customers, this at least has an immediate positive effect on people's ability to play and enjoy the game they purchased without any additional strings attached (at least for now, that is).
Just so you are aware, A PSN account is required for Legends online multiplayer mode and to use PlayStation overlay. It is not required to play the singleplayer game.

Helldivers 2 just banned some more countries from buying the game, they're up to 170 now. Ghosts has followed.
The only reason that i can really imagine for that is Sony planning on enforcing PSN again later, because that blacklist was added due to PSN not being legal in those specific countries.
