Losing is fun! seriously though, setting up farms in the frozen wasteland of my starting zone is proving to be more of a challenge than I had anticipated... EDIT: Anyone up for a succession game? ^_^ I'm up for a succession game. So what should the rules be? I'd suggest something like - Version 31.25? 31.18? Wait for the zombie acpocalypse release? - Embark location with verified coal and iron at the least - Embark size 2x2 (to reduce lag) - One year game time per succession (stop the game when the dwarf caravan leaves your base) - A detailed post of the year's events and changes when the year's over - A real-life time limit per player - 2 days or so, maybe?

Sure, I'm game. Those rules sound fair. Will the save be uploaded to a place like mediafire or something? EDIT: What mods would be turned on and off? Would there be a population cap? Invaders? Weather? Stuff like that.

Once we have that, we could have an idle channel on irc, for any questions, experiences of problems, using the web client or something here on TL. I'm not too familiar with file sharing over irc though - what would be the best way to move worlds around? Also, should we set up a "basepack" DF with the modded base (population cap etc) as well as Therapist so that people won't have to do that for themselves? I imagine if we don't, odd things can happen. Anyhow, maybe we should add some kind of limit to how many z-levels one can dig per succession? Two reasons really - lots of z levels means a lot of pathing and processing meaning a lot of lag, as well as candycane-snacking early on somewhat splits the fort a bit too much, I feel.

How about we all join #TLDwarves on quakenet? I'll go set up the channel now.

Well could also use that for signups too, in case someone wants to join half way through. We should also keep backups in case someone decides to troll/grief and mess everything up. I think the best way to move worlds around would be to set up a "pack" in a folder so we can put that folder in a zip file and upload it to mediafire, or some other upload site. The pack should include a graphics pack (to be decided later), Dwarf Therapist, and (optionally) sound sense. I can look at porting the saves to a linux/mac pack, since I run linux on my laptop. These will make it easier to transport the saves since we can just zip the folder. I think that's a good idea, let's limit it to 3 max per succession. We should also try to make clear what the purpose of our digging is. For example, we should try to make it clear when we're digging for the purpose of gathering resources, or for expanding the rooms.

What should I do with goblins that are trapped in my cages? Also, what about the vermin in my animal traps? T.T

I dont play DF, but, if you guys write little synopises of your years like the earlier linked Murderboat, that would be awesome. That story had me laughing all the time.

My sleep doesn't run on a 24 hour clock, that's why we have it so that each person has 2 days to take their turn before they're skipped. I'll add you to the players list in a few minutes.
