Tim Morten presents a master class in excuse making. Young software developers should watch this old man in action. Mr. Morten is brilliant in this interview. At some time in everyone's career they will miss deadlines, fail to implement promised features and go over budget. It is a reality of making software. Being an effective excuse maker is a key skill to surviving in an extremely competitive field. Tim Morten plays the excuse maker role as well as Jason Alexander played George Costanza in Seinfeld.

That's why they're all so radically different from each other. Everyone from Dehaja to Stukov to Han & Horner. While Stormgate is having to add co-op commanders with only 6 missions for one race and barely any lore existing.

I would've preferred them wait until Ryker was more polished (apparently he is already getting an Amara level visual rework) and maybe a balance patch or new unit(s) tier 3? To go along with it. I'm guessing this is all because the dev team has focused on Team Mayhem and everything else got placed on the back burner, but still :/ Hard to give a proper opinion without playing (art, sound, optimisation improvements, and coop content are the main things) but yeah it's a little dry going off the patch notes. Although 3v3 is being updated behind nda as well but we don't have any details yet. Not that every patch has to be game changing, they just need to get there eventually. The better news is that the new art director is both very good, and is going over all 3 races is. In particular he said the next dev cycles (0.3/0.4?) are focusing on tilesets and visuals. Which are things the game really needs for people to see its potential.

Wow! That reveal at the end. So infernals are not just getting a visual overhaul, but an entire gameplay redesign that's fascinating. On another note, I wonder what the game would be like if it played at a slightly faster game speed. Worth testing?

Im all for it. They really need to rework the whole thing with more interesting units. Improve buildings etc. Sounds good to me.

Also new blog: https://playstormgate.com/news/looking-ahead-stormgate-s-path-forward We are able to share some good news: BITKRAFT, one of the investors who helped launch Frost Giant Studios, is leading an additional funding round to support our journey. Their continued investment means the world to us, and will help enable us to deliver a solid 1.0 release, which we’re tentatively aiming for in the second half of next year. FUNDED UNTIL 1.0!

Because there is no way the EA gave them the cash injection they were hoping for.

The current ones have their charm in a fantasy/warcraft kind of style. But they aren't in the style of fire demons from space coming to consume your world. It will be cool to see these units in game and also what the new director has planned for Celestials. Clever of Frost Giant to release a fairly uninspiring patch (not than small art, sound, optimisation improvements are bad by any means, just not particularly exiting) but follow it up with teasers of what good stuff they have in the works. It's looking up for the game

Now it could be a last roll of the dice thing too, but they’re claiming reasonably substantial redesigns. So either they’re gambling on that grabbing players back with their remaining budget, or they’ve some additional budget to work with and can be a bit more ambitious. Honestly not sure I think both are plausible

Honestly not sure I think both are plausible Yeah, I get the vibe they are trying to appeal the game to younger generation with the cartoonish art style, dumbed down macro mechanics. However the game just doesn't feel right. I have not read what they proposed in redesign, but I think it is sort of the product they are building for "everyone", then no one really wants it kind of thing. I don't know if there really is a market out there for younger generation that has a big draw for RTS. My niece for example, she loves playing valorant because all her friends are playing. Solo game is a bit of nerdy thing I think.
