Anyone here play Path of Diablo (https://pathofdiablo.com/)?
It's a fan-created "balance patch" of Diablo 2 which aims to increase build diversity and replayability with "as few changes to the original experience as possible," with periodic ladder seasons, constant patches for balance and content, and increased end-game content (such as Path of Exile-inspired mapping).
Apparently it's been going on for five years now and has a large and dedicated playerbase. In addition to adding new build possibilities from skill tweaks/additions and thoughtful edits of previously overlooked unique items (that are now build-defining), there are also QoL improvements such as increased stash space, online trading platforms, and easier muling.
Anyway, the new ladder reset is occurring this weekend and I'm going to give it a shot. Would anyone on TL want to play?

Might take a look at it. Is there a resolution fix? Because last time I downscaled my 21: 9 monitor to 800 x 600 for fullscreen I had black lines across my screen.

Yes, you can play in fully windowed mode at a variety of resolutions.
EDIT: or full screen.

I'm not playing it now but it looks like best place to play D2 nowadays, they manage to get no bots apparently

I played PoD every season reset the past 2-3 years. Very fun game, gives you the best "retail" experience of LoD without the hackers and bots (very rare and dealt with quickly).
Im pretty sure I want to roll another Bladesin this season. Then once I gear her gonna make a throwbarb and decide what kind of uber killer i want to make. Its gonna be good times, baby!

Any interest in a reset party? How hardcore (like...literally, not HC in D2) are you about rushing to farm endgame content? I'm a slower SSF type player, but enjoy some company.
Also at one point a few seasons ago (well...this was 2018) I was the #6 ladder Paladin during the first week (then left for a month-long vacation and immediately dropped off anywhere near the top of the ladder) and created the first Paladin enigma for what it's worth (got VERY lucky with rune drops day 1).

I mostly do solo content, but i like to do trades to expedite my gearing process. but yeah, if u wanna group to do rushes in hell or something early on im always game. im softcore btw.
last ladder my sin hit top 20 ladder? not sure, i got her up to 97 then i gave away all my stuff and deleted all my chars. it takes bout 4 weeks to reach that point when i get super bored 
this ladder seems to have modified maps though, so that looks interesting

How do you usually get to endgame content? Do you just run through the content solo and then pub baal run until you're high enough for the next difficulty/post hell?

I get to lvl 70+ like how any normal LOD player would (group baals and hell rush).
Then I just solo content like cows or pit/shenk which eventually moves on to cs and maps (once u get better gear).
Majority of my playtime is done soloing though. I don’t find satisfaction in group mapping. I like to play at my own pace and improve my times

Is it as complicated as PoE to make viable endgame builds? Can you respec easily?

You get a free respec per den of evil completion each difficulty so 3 in total also the act bosses drop essences that you can cube together to make a respec token or buy one from players.

Nowhere near as complicated, and endgame comes very quickly as well. Easy respecs (3 immediately free ones, and then you have to briefly farm for additional).

how does the currency work for trading in diablo now. Its not SoJs or Gold I assume

@Zidane you can barter with anything, PGs (perfect gems) usually work well and runes especially
gold does have some low value i sometimesss trade with that cause ppl need it for merc res or some repairs etc

yes since 1.10 even more so cause monsters get +50% HP per player only while players get shared bonuses so basically you are a lot stronger to them can kill a lot faster etc and still get better items too just gotta catch them^^
i play solo a lot but i really like small/medium group, big group can get rushy but can be fun too

well for example if you have a sorc who can tele its good, if you have a necro for curses good, if you have a druid with oak sage or heart of wolverine good, pala auras good, tbh all characters can bring something like that cold effects shouts of barbarian ama slow missile or even inner sight etc
you can make a ton of viable builds btw
oh also i personally dodge baal runs a lot. you can get quick lot of xp that way but meh/no items from the mobs before baal. I rather run stuff all over act4 act5 to gear up and do that at times elsewhere too (hc) good for being able to solo next but you could do that reverse ofc depends^^

If you're playing with friends on Hardcore and die, are they able to recover your items for you to reroll? lol

yes you just need not to forget to check "allow to loot my corpse" on party screen and don't leave game until they loot you

Never played this before, but will probably hop on for the reset (HC). Are the servers down until then? I was trying to figure a way to mess around on here (single player or otherwise) and get a feel for what kind of character to make but it appears I can't do that :c
Still, this looks like it could be a lot of fun

just like retail d2, u cant loot their inventory (charms), just remember that lol.

since a lot of new pod players are intererested, its a good idea to get a grasp what the HR values are. these are of course subject to change as ladder unfolds and certain runewords/items get buffed/nerfed.

I remember playing for one season because a friend brought me in. Not too long ago after getting in hell and behind able to do some runs, I manage to find one of the godly unique and became rich in a instan. I think it was a perfect 6 socket Windforce, something like that.
I sold it and was able to fully build 2 character

Nah, the to go endgame bow is Faith RW I believe. At least if you use Multishot AND Immolation Arrow, which you generally want to due to physical immune monsters.

He “corrupt orb” a wind force and got 6 sockets. Basically the chances of doing that are: roll socket mod > roll 6 sockets
1/4 * 1/6 = 1/24 chance
Typically to the right buyer a 6os WF is like 12-15hr. Baller indeed

It’s basically like how u would in retail:
Dump everything into vit. Some niche builds where u max energy for spell damage and dex for phys bowzons.
AFAIK people don’t really max dex for block cause of the block frames.

i use dex points for block on a lot of chars or of course just for AR cause you don't necessarily want to count only on +% attack rating from some skills
i think good to consider all attributes tbh you don't really need to max vitality because of rejuv potions and bonuses to life that come from elsewhere like items or aura or tankiness from summons w/e
you can even sort of use the proportion that each char has at the start and tweak from there it works, especially if you want ability to block or even hit with weapons even with a caster char can be worthwhile if you have some items^^
thats 1.10 but i think pod similar, just you'll get a good chunk more strength at max level especially i guess

Eh, it's not THAT easy. Almost any char will need some STR for gear, in some cases also DEX. Energy would be mostly for mana shield sorcs I guess.
And max block is, from what I read, really good on some chars (like hybrid Javazon) IF you have Stormshield and want to be tanky enough to run do something like Hell Baal somewhat safely.

i do like to build up some energy tbh on most chars, gives a better start if you don't want to rely on always doing the same runeword on A2 merc what's it called^^ insight

I do agree with that, especially if you plan on using a leveling spec and switch to something else later. Early on you'd use A3 merc for Insight tho.

For 5k players on launch this, has been one of the smoothest resets. Servers would sometimes flatline but are quickly back up.

Ugh. Just got killed in hell chaos. I noticed one of the guys in the lobby was the current ladder leader, then stopped paying attention to where I was standing. Lord de seis spawned on me
Overall: I like this mod. Pretty fun couple of days I've had.

I picked this up for the first time this season, having tons of fun so far. Playing melee Sorc, which I've always thought was cool but is pretty awful pre-Dream in vanilla. The melee splash jewel and Fridgerate help so much with its early viability in PoD, it's feeling great. Still not exactly an optimal budget build, but I'm happy it's even sorta functional.
I got a random Ber drop in Hell Den of Evil and I am way too poor/noobish to know what to spend it on. Don't think I've paid more than 2ooc for anything I'm wearing. I could save it for Infinity for my merc, but then I need another Ber.
Any suggestions for what a pre-Dream melee Sorc wants that's worth about a Ber? Socky Shaftstop maybe?

Finished my Immortal Kings set on my 78 Barb on Hardcore. Thinking of rolling a bowazon next after I farm some high runes.

its the best to play on a server without bots and cheaters. I like PoD overall so far, but I think the difficulty is quite reduced, despite there being less huge items around generated by bots. Because there are many buffs to skills overall, and they are quite big. So normal is quite fast, and nightmare is feeling bit, too easy i think. Melee splash sounds kinda op but duno. There's quite some good things about PoD though, and so refreshing to play on a server with no cheats that's huge.

They added a lot of endgame stuff which is really hard and are balancing around that. They aren't too worried about the regular game.

its definitely all focused on hell level difficulty. they just updated a bunch of new maps today, was extremely refreshing to clear those.

I cleared a 1200 (Conviction aura) Ruined Citadel last night. Took me near damn an hour but its possible as a solo.
The density is DANK AS FUCKKKKK. Charms and Jewels were littered EVERYWHERE and I found 2 unique rings (one was a wisp) and I found a Sur.
Solo capabilities for high-density maps are for niche builds though. And all melee classes just get absolutely butt-fucked in any high density map.
I believe GD is working on a map solution as hes constantly updating map settings. But rn servers are finally hit with the inevitable (ddosers, hackers etc) So might be a couple days before things are up and running again.

Anyone on SC wanna do some 1k density map clearing with me?
My sin can’t handle these high density maps that’s been collecting dust and nearly all of them is forgotten dessert. Any char that can clean up fire immunes would work well with me.
Loot rules will be all HR and OOC drops will be split 50/50. Everything else is ffa. Also map opener is designated all map drops.

I have OCD when it comes to clearing map mobs. I think that’s why bladesin is my fav class.

boss rushing white and yellow maps has been way more profitable for me than full clearing
I do still full clear reds but those take a while

Excuse a small rant ahead:
I normally stay away from Reddit except for the PoD forums. I’ve been frequenting there for the past 2-3 years and it’s always been pleasant. But with the recent upsurge of PoD players this season that forum has become real fucking lame. U got guys spitting opinions as facts and telling “I caught a fish this big” anecdotes without video or data to back it up. I can tolerate a lot of things, but spreading misinformation is not one of them. Especially since a lot of new players are seeking legitimate advice.
A recent incident was me advising not to play throwbarb as it’s not very viable in mapping and I got downvoted to oblivion and guys saying they disagree cause I’m playing it wrong. BOY IM ONE OF THE FEW (IF ONLY) DUDE THAT UPLOADS THROWBARB VIDS ON YOUTUBE. then I ask to post a vid of their throwbarb clear and it’s deafening silence lol
Ahhh fuck sorry I had to mini rant. Anyways I have a full ES sorc and Throwbarb if anyone is interested. I only play on my sin now as not to burn out

I know that there is a lot of fan-made stuff for this game. But I have no idea how to install it and make it work in the game. I tried to follow the guide, but either the error appears, or this stuff simply doesn’t appear in my inventory. This is very frustrating for me. Recently I found out that it is possible to purchase different runes for the game on https://www.yesgamers.com/diablo-2/runes But I don’t want to waste my money on stuff I cannot install. Please, someone, help me! I really want to install this stuff, because I’m tired of finding the rune over and over again.

Reddit is always fine as long as you're swimming with the swarm. But the moment you go against public opinion you get downvoted into oblivion. The larger a sub/r gets the worse it is.
Will probably give this a shot in my next longer holidays. Is phoenix assa viable? Always wanted to give that build a go.

Edit: Apparently phoenix strike doesn't exist in PoD. Guess I'll try frostblade, triple elemental hits + dragon jump sounds fun for all the mobility, but keeping one charge up is already annoying and keeping 3 up sounds extremely tiring. To boot 80 points in triple charges + dragon jump doesn't leave a lot of room for other stuff and you could probably spend another 20 on the claws passive.
Also oh boy I forgot how wonky melee hits are, roughly half the time I seem to get a default miss on enemies while my stat screen shows 95% hitrate. And that ignores the joys of getting blocked 3x in a row by a small act 1 demon and broken range checks on the assa's zeal variant forcing me to always get a bit closer than a simple left-click would carry me.
Fire-Trapsin seems to be super strong according to reddit, but I could never warm up to the idea of my totems doing all the killing for me. Might switch to the shuriken throw skills with my reskill if my melee experience continues to be mediocre.

Ladder reset yesterday. As usual there are some issues, but there have been some nice changes, notably directdraw was enabled so there's now 4k downscaling. D2 looks pretty :D

A lot of issues - like every ladder reset I guess. Also many things that were promised in the patch didn't end up working, like Pulverize doesn't do any damage, Cain quest doesn't give Melee Splash and more. Could really have used a week more of PTR and bug fixing.
At least the QOL stuff is great and mostly is working. Even though item filters are not available as well atm.

I'd love to see PTR up with the new patch for a week or 2 before going live so there's time to work through most of the bugs, but it's a free mod so I'm not complaining
