I only heard about OpenAI winning against OG, but as I went back to check, it looks like it won against 3 other Pro-Gaming Players and I am at a lost for words.

Back then thinking of a 5v5 AI vs Pro is unthinkable because it'll be too easy and that there's no way an AI will win against a pro. I can think of a 1v1, but not a MOBA game like DOTA 2.

And then this happened.

Now I want Team Liquid to fight this AI and see how they fair against it.

Still, does that mean the era of humanity is coming to a close? Will the rise of this AI in esports be a thing now? The World Cyber Games had their AI Masters, so does that mean that more and more AI will pop up in tournaments any time soon?

The issue I have with AI playing games is that they're always going to have some structural advantages over humans. The delay from collecting data from the screen drawing to the information going through the humans eyes, to being processed in the brain, to the action being sent to the nerves and the computer registering the action through the computer and mouse.

Its a significant lag that the AI doesn't have to deal with. Not even taking into consideration hesitation based on emotion or decision making. Whats really the point after that.

jaeh but thats all nothing importent, i mean all that was always there, this isnt the thing thats impressive.
decisions on the fly, changing tactics ingame, UNDERSTANDING whats going on, thats whats impressive.
thats why a "normal" ai cant win against silver plebs and this ai beats pro teams

the game vs oG was the final for this AI its done for now i think with dota 5vs5 as they crushed their enemies and proved whats needed to be proven

also dont forget, the AI trained for 45.000 years for this match

The AI isn't understanding what's going on though, it's making decisions based on 45.000 years of playtime. It failed with thousands of approaches and chooses the one that has the highest winrate, self-learning AI is at it's core a brute force algorithm.

Which is why the AI imo isn't that impressive compared to a human (it's still an impressive development feat) and the term "intelligent" really doesn't apply in a human sense, there's no abstraction and planning. That became very clear when TNC delayed the match enough at TI and the AI just started to run in circles because it had no data or if you look at their nonexistent ward game.

They are also far from proving anything, playing with like a third of the hero pool gives massive advantages to the AI. The fact that they are masters at the training-heavy core-aspects of dota (i.e. teamfight positioning, spell usage, laning, coordination) and scrubs at almost everything else makes the games also very weird and disconnected from normal dota games.

I actually got a lot of response that it was really an unfair part for the humans, and that it'll probably take longer for AI to actually be able to fight humans in 5v5
