The only matchmaking there is for the strikes (dungeons) and crucible (PVP).
The lack of chat features is probably the most disappointing thing about this game, itd make the game seem more fun and social when you're in....social spaces, or even when you're out in patrol zones. Not even clan chat? Really annoying because Bungie PR talks about the amazing Destiny community, when they dont facilitate that community and everything in D1 was down outside of the game through LFG websites, subreddits and discord servers.
I HIGHLY recommend everyone to go into your options and turn ON the whisper strangers button.
I reached level 20 before even starting the main quests in Io. Do these quests scale in difficulty according to your level? I feel like the mobs take about the same amount of time to kill even though my power doubled...

Does anyone else have problems with reassigning keybinds? I was able to do it during beta, but I've been pretty much unable to bind a key at all after release.
Whenever I try to change my keybind, it doesn't register at all, be it mouse or keyboard. Anyone knows a fix or workaround for it?
EDIT: found a fix for it, for whoever that has the same issue as me, head over to this page: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236526682 , bunny's post. (do take note that numpad keys are still bugged, but it's a workaround if you're unable/have trouble to bind keys in game.)

Gunsmith reputation turn in?
Exact same outcome, sometimes even duplicate purples.
So how does one find groups for the Nightfall strikes? Finally got the gear for it and it doesn't seem to have matchmaking because it dumps me into it solo and I can't beat the timer alone.
Also, just so I'm not missing anything:
Story campaign is super short. There's 1 mission chain per planet that's 3-4 missions after you complete the main story.
After that it's all grinding the repeatable activities with no fresh content.
Yeap. And if you didn't save your turn in engrams until after you're decked out 665 from public events and such, you're gonna get stuck gearwise in the sub 680 gear for possibly weeks, because after 665 the only things that give you upgrades are milestone rewards and exotic engrams and, if you saved them, the final quest rewards from tower.
Ofc, unless you read that on the internet, you probably have no idea like me about and just cashed in those things afte the campaign was done. So now I'm sitting here with 668 gear and the only thing for me left to grind that can upgrade me is nightfalls. Feelsbad. Also, bad design IMO. But I guess that's a given in a game that lacks even basic text chat functions for a PC "mmo". Shame, game runs and plays well and is beautiful as heck, just lack of content and dumb console UI decisions ruining it.

What is the end-game really like anyway...? I never played the first game, and I played the beta for D2 on PC and now all my friends are picking it up. I'm into games like Diablo, and have played Borderlands. But the gear progression in Destiny sounds like the opposite of something I'd enjoy... just from what I've read. I'd really only be buying it for some group pve play with my friends (which would be hit or miss given everyone's schedules and such). Are there gear milestones that really change the way you play? Options to choose from that specialize in different roles or situations? Or is it really just the slow (almost MMO-like) push for slightly larger numbers just to do slightly more dps? I know from lots of content I've seen since the console launch that the story is short and terrible, but that never really put me off from getting it if the endgame/grinding was entertaining enough and the group stuff and raids were good with friends. It just seems like there's almost NOTHING exciting as far as solo or group progression unless you just really love the gunplay and the world I guess. It seems like very little has changed from the first game (which again, I didn't play myself). Few classes, little to customize.
So correct me if I'm wrong and sell me on it if I'm missing the secret or something.
Currently the game's end game is a bit lacking in variety due to the changes they made to the progression system, once you reach a point (power 290 ish) there is little incentive to push further. These issues are being address in the coming months however.
Keyword, coming months. Aka they put a game out that again didn't have any kind of end-game content and knew people would be bored after the first month. Destiny 2 was their chance to redeem their game, they fucking failed. Even if it handles like one of the best shooters I've ever played, it can't stop poor management and lack of content from ruining the experience.
The Internet-Community for this games seems extremly hostile… Well, i didn’t play Destiny 1 and just grabbed this last week to play with 5-6 old friends from WoW. We are around Plevel 25X-26X now and played way more during the Weekend than we tought we would. My two main mates are horrible at FPS (inexpirienced mainly) and i’m myself not exactly an expert but still nearly double them on kills after basically all missions (did so when i was 10 pp behind, do so now that i’m 10 ahead – either that or the 2 WL speccs i played a fair bit (Lightning and Void) are totally overpowered).
A few toughts: First things first: The gunplay is fun and thats like the most important thing. Doing the Story and sidemissions together with 1-2 friends is a blast. Solo it really falls off a bit but so do basically all MMO’s. The «normal» Strikes are cool but on the very easy side and there could be a few more, the hardest enemies are clearly the pits and jumping sections – if I am remembering deathcounts correctly . We also did a few patrole missions, those are supposed to be like single player endgame/quests when you run out of actual missions? I guess? Well, they for sure are fun enough to pass the time and wait for your third man.
What i found strange: 1: Nightfall Strikes feel very strange at first? They immediatly come with a time limit that doesn’t allow for many fuckups, way shorter cooldowns on your abilities and much tougher enemies, wtf? The jump from «normal» Strikes to Nightfalls seems a bit steep, sudden and due to the cooldown change also weird. With a bit better gear and more experience they most likely won’t actually be hard at all but it somehow feels like there is a content-tier missing somewhere inbetween. The shorter CD’s make the game way cooler.
2: Is there any reason to not use at least one autorifle in your setup? They just seem to outperform most other weapons in most situations?
3: The classes feel extremly similar outside of the „V“-Skill and their ultimates (actually even there), its just different stats for recovery/hp/speed and their jumps?
Btw: General advice welcome.
I can see how players that spent more time with this are missing content, but so far i’m having a blast.
I finished the campaign and most of the extended story in less than 30 hours, currently sitting at 270 power level. So far I am hugely disappointed.
This game in many ways feels like an underdeveloped version of Warframe, which is a F2P multiplayer FPS 3rd person shooter co-op:
Instead of 3 classes in D2, Warframe has over 30, each with 4 unique abilities.
Warframe also offers better weapon/character customization in the form of mods (each weapon can take up to 8 mods, there are also mods available for the character itself).
In addition to more guns, Warframe also has a myriads of melee weapons with different combos.
Parkour/movement feels way better in WF compared to D2, which offers little control while gliding in the air. The wall latch into melee jump combo is also incredibly satisfying to execute. In D2 I just stare at enemies while gliding in the air, feeling totally exposed.
Warframe has way deeper end game content, trade system, global chat, guild research etc.
The bright ingrams you buy with real money is a complete waste of money, they are mostly cosmetic skins in a game where you barely interact with other players.
The only advantage D2 has over WF is its better tuned PvP system, but if I really wanted to play competitive FPS I'd rather play Overwatch/CS instead.
Lack of global chat and currency/trade system basically means this isn't really a multiplayer experience. If I were to evaluate it as a SP campaign, it is way too short to justify the cost, and the story couldn't have been more bland/boring.
Certain missions like the Rat King quest and nightfall/raids are clearly designed for multiplayer, but how do I even find a party without any ways of communicating? There isn't even a matchmaking system in place.
This game definitely does not deserve its place on the Blizzard launcher given its current state. I predict a very short shelf life unless they do some major revamp on the multiplayer side.
I haven't played Warframe so I'm not sure if your criticisms are all true, however I do think it's a "good" thing that bright engrams aren't worth the money. I completely agree with your remarks towards socialization as thats probably the biggest wtf for me, personally.

I'd have to disagree with this, in spite of your criticisms, the game is still very fun, and the community is super active. Even 3 years later, and after Destiny 1 was regarded as the biggest letdown, and tons of problems, they still had enough interest to hold a huge fan-made convention and raise over a million dollars for charity. I think this game will have a ton of life in it in the forseeable future as they roll out patches and updates/DLC.
Somewhat related:
I'm pumped for Expansion 01, but 02 is going to be my jam, I'll about those Warminds.
I think my impression of D2 is harsh because I've played Warframe for a long time, and a lot of the elements are so similar between the two.
If all you care about are the pve contents, WF is a much better grind with the proper social features. The campaign story is engaging, mechanics are fluid, the graphics are pretty good for a game developed in 2013. It's received over 4 years of expansion contents and the community is friendly and engaging.
I can't help but feel that Destiny copied a lot of their features (loading screen with your personalized ships, mods for guns/swords, also the planetary map system with different types of quests all feel eerily familiar), but Bungie did not develop these into their full potential compared to a game that is 4 years old.
It might be worth revisiting again after the next major content update, but for now it is going to be shelved for better titles.

Right on. I don't think its likely Destiny copied WF since they released so close to eachother. If you're going to shelve Destiny 2, I think you should wait a few days because the raid is coming out, and thats one of the big things that makes Destiny stand apart, since its endgame revolves around raids.
