I'd be more OK with this if I at least got some kind of indicator, like a sound or an onscreen message that the vtrigger (which should only be interruptable by throws afaik) got cancelled, but now I just lose all my meter and then wonder why nothing happens as I mash the buttons trying to trigger it. Are you sure it's invincible from frame 1? And you're not just getting stuffed by meaties? If it's supposed to be invulnerable on frame 1 then it might be a lag/desync issue, even in good connections.

No effect, no sound, just no more v bars. I dont mind it being interruptable, just let me know it got interrupted :p This looks really obvious to me: https://gfycat.com/GenerousVagueBrahmanbull

I don't know what would cause a difference but there have been times I've seen with several characters, including Nash, where V-Trigger got stuffed with almost no visual indication. Similar to stuffing an EX move sometimes. Not that I'm implying it's a bug or anything. It's definitely just getting stuffed by an attack and not good to just mash it on meaty situations. But it's not always easy to tell.

I mean I know heavy beats medium and jab on hit, but as the defender I can only barely get out a jab, if anything when she gets in my face. And it's not alot of fun to just spend a whole game escaping either. Am I just playing the wrong character or is there something I'm missing about the basic gameplay? Heavy doesn't necessarily beat medium and jab. Much more important is the startup frames and active frames, so when the buttons get presses is usually a bigger deal. Eating pressure is also Nash's weakness (and rightfully so, given all his strengths). Your biggest get-out tools are going to be V-Reversal and V-Trigger, otherwise you just have to learn to tech throws and time your normals. Which isn't easy to learn, of course, but that's the character.

Jabbing out of pressure is pretty common for a lot of characters in SFV. You don't get much out of it, but it can put the brakes on your opponent. The whole "heavy-medium-jab rock paper scissors" thing is weird, I'm not sure where and why folks got that impression (tutorial or something?) but that's not really how Street Fighter works. Maybe if two moves both trade exactly in their active frames and with the right hit/hurtboxes then the SFV engine is designed that way, but mashing a heavy normal when their jab is already coming out will get you stuffed and counter hit every time. Also V-Reversal is underrated, if you're in block pressure then spending one bar of V Gauge is well worth it to get out of a pinch (especially in the corner)
