Also I don't buy it. Kioshima, maybe, but Happy, I wouldn't believe so, as he pretty much want to fix the french scene issues by himself.
Also, I don't see EnVy being much stronger after that change. they don't need a super star player as a 5th to take kioshima's place
they need someone consistant and solid, and i think that's the case for DEVIL (he impressed me a lot)
saying nV tier 2 right now is plain stupid btw

Well, I said that before knowing the actual change. But it's true that it might be the right move. Not sure how DEVIL will handle playing against the very best with the very best, but I guess no one can really say before he actually does. He made a few appearances as stand-in for EnVy IIRC, so that might help.

Yeah, we all know france has a strong Dota2 scene right? :3

considering kioshima's statement, he's gonna do everything to come back and i think that a player that young and who is a double major champion has the potential to do so
Players of G2 have a sword of Damocles ready to fall

Aaaaand that's all. Even Shoshka or whatever was that other dude.... meh.
As for kio, I'm not sure G2 would risk to change now. And there's a few NA team that could outright buy him big money. So dunno...

i really hope he finds a competitive team, even if it's not G2 since his english is gud

There is only enough money and talent for 2 top tier French teams I think so he will have to find a mixteam, hope his english is good enough/fine to speak and recieve english, even Scream felt like he had communication issues.

actually plenty of french teams have enough money for a solid top tier csgo teams, but they want to focus more on hearthstone or LoL
but indeed you're right, subtop isn't there yet

I suppose its also hard because the competition is high and the sub-top (something you can more easily stream in) is already very saturated.

TSM drops vice. I suspect they have some play with Oskar or something of that nature.

Well I don't think theyl get Kio even if they pay him a fuckton, that team is going nowhere. Oskar might go because h is financially less stable, didn't Oskar say he had something with a team that made it to the major though?

i used to think that was a dumb idea to swap rosters right before a major, but Envy proved me wrong :>

Envy is the only kind of team that can prove you wrong on that front.

Or Fnatic. A major a month after they signed dennis? Would've been scary.
Not that they aren't today, also.

Well the thing about Fnatic is that everyone who saw that as a huge upgrade in firepower and a downgrade in tactics. wheras we don't know if Devil is an upgrade over kio, most likely atleast not in firepower(or as big as an improvement as Dennis over Pronax).
it so happens that if you just have enough firepower you barely need tactics, I am pretty sure people thought Fnatic were going to do fine either way.

A lot of people (myself included) thought that'd be a huge downgrade because I valued pronax very highly, even though dennis was an improvement in terms of firepower. And flusha had already called for Fnatic, and it didn't work out well. But they proved me wrong afterwards...
In the case of DEVIL, if what we gathered from the different statements, etc. reflects the reality, this is a downgrade in terms of raw skill and firepower (no offense to DEVIL but kio can be really good and entry very well), but that will surely be an improvement in terms of cohesion and work. DEVIL is a hard working player, kio was apparently not that motivated for various reasons. So that's still quite hard to predict (whereas the change with kennyS and apEX was expected to do wonders given the potential). I'd still consider better a dedicated and involved player over a more skilled but bored/demotivated player.
A quick note also: I'm considering that the real core of EnVy is really Happy + NBK. Even though kio has been there since the beginning of this lineup (LDLC at that time), I felt that kio wasn't as close to Happy or NBK than these two are. So I'm not sure this is as much a big deal if they change kio, in terms of team spirit and cohesion. But I could be mistaken.
|
we should look closer to kio's statement, his lack of motivation didn't come from nowhere and i still think that overall it was more a team failure than anything else

Thats exactly my point, raw firepower and individual skill is less of a variable within a team rather then DEVIL finding his place within the team with good chemistry, all things considered we don't know if this is an upgrade or not in a department. With Fnatic I am fairly certain everyone was confident that it was an increase in firepower and a decrease in tactical prowess. With Devil I don't think(honestly I don't know him enough for this mb) he will match Kio's firepower, that means that he will have to mesh with the team well which is a much larger variable I think.
Also I think honestly that while Fnatic looks unbeatable right now I also think that most EU teams right now are in average/terrible shape, nV, VP, Astralis(Astralis less so) which in the past were the top competition to face are all having issues right now.
Fnatic is basically the only top team who has their shit(and its some good shit) together.

Happy has often mentioned the "issues" of the french scene and that he wanted to fix these, but I'm not sure he ever told what these issues really were, nor what he was trying to do to fix them.
Overall I agree that this isn't just about kioshima.

DEVIL REPLACES KIOSHIMA IN ENVYUS CS:GO LINEUP
Coincidence? I think not. Expect this line-up to win many future tournaments.
Straightup copied from reddit, because this was funny as fuck :DDDD
