Sightings feature renamed. Grass added. Major Text Changes Folks jump to outrage far, far too quickly. Updating is a good thing. Just cause they didn't bring you Christmas doesn't mean they aren't working. Lol what? I get the joke. This type of shit just bamboozles me.

Enabled the ability for Trainers to change their nickname one time, so please choose your new nickname wisely This is actually great. Picking a name at the start was ridiculously frustrating because there was no way to check if a nickname was available before you committed to it.
Having pokemon disappear properly is also a solid step forward. I'm going to assume they'll keep working on the tracker. It's still crazy that such a core component of gameplay can be AWOL for weeks.
The driving thing could be super, super annoying if it comes back up every time your bus stops etc.

I hate the feature and the pop-up message at the start of the game but I understand Niantic is just doing things to protect itself from legal issues so whatever
Edit: Watch the trailer in the first post. Obviously the game won't look like that but there is a clear cut way to track down a pokemon near by in the game. It's a core feature and being mad it doesn't work/exist in the game is completely legitimate. Nobody really cares about some aesthetic. The fact the list depopulates and populates is a step forward but we still have no idea where any pokemon is relative to us. Just today I have stood within catching distance of a pokemon in every possible location of the sighting list. I also had pokemon leave the list the moment I was to far away to catch them. Was able to turn around and go catch those 3 with a empty sighting list.
I still have no idea how to use that list and from Silph Road reading, neither does anyone else.

Fired it back up today, and tracking still seems broken. Catching shit that isn't even listed, the list is in no order, was standing on top of a snorlax yet it was the 2nd from the bottom of the list, still seems to keep despawned pokemon, altho I guess maybe not a much as before. Oh wells back to retirement, will check back after more patching is done.

Hey do u guys keep a specimen for each type. Like example you have a Pigeot already, what do you do with the pidgey/pigeottos?

should add the top down image, if they fully implement it, it would be great

I assume that was photoshopped? Or is there an overlay add-on doing that sorta thing?

no it's real
it's a trial for selected users.
you can also click on those pokemon, it will show a google map style screen with the approximate location of the pokemon

Not sure how I feel about this. I kinda liked the 3 step system, as it kinda made you hunt things down and search as a team.

well you can still elect not to use it, it's basically replicating pokevision, but just a local version. quite nice
|
That's not bad if that's what they've gone with.
I think the ideal solution would have been to have an inaccurate pokevision for city-scale stuff with the original tracker for local searching, but this is alright too. If anything it's a bit too good.
|
i dislike it as i think it is _too_ simple...
where's the hunt and the thrill of closing in on your prize? that to me was great.
my greatest moment was paddling furiously toward a scyther when I finally pinned it down, having a rough idea where it is and a good knowledge of the local spawn points, it was the highlight of my day.

I noticed on my iPad and iPhone, that my GPS location is almost perfect after update, even inside the building, not moving at all, so I can no longer touch the nearest pokéstop from my workplace. Fortunately I have also Android phone avalaible, so my GPS can still run wild.
|
What's the point of the sights portion of the tracker? Like what's the difference between nearby and sightings lol sightings seems kinda pointless..

i believe the new feature is still in beta.
that or give some fuzzy notion of final location to keep the hunting aspect in...
take that back. the sighting is only near pokestop. the nearby is still in the dark.
