That and I believe you will be able to at least walk around Midgar if not more so than the original, and it will probably end in Kalm as that is when the 1st Disc ended as well. You don't actually encounter Sephiroth though. You just see the aftermath of him attacking the headquarters (and killing the president). That's also the first time you even hear of him. It's not a big deal but I just feel like the Midgar section doesn't reveal enough about the story to create a full standalone game. If they end at Kalm then it's probably fine. On another note Kalm isn't even 50% into the 1st disc ![]()

Midgar takes a new player like 3-4 hours to complete in the original game right? And then maybe 2-3 if you're familiar (1 hour for speedrunners). They need to expand that into a 20-30 hour game, which is definitely possible but there's gonna be a lot of filler content. Also I don't feel like the ending of the Midgar section is that interesting. I'd rather they end part 1 at Kalm or something so we at least get some Sephiroth action. 3-4 hours for a new player? No way. I spent tons of hours

My only reservation for Midgar getting more of an extensive role, is that if they skimp out on the post-Midgar stuff on the first episode, it won't feel as amazing. Spending so many hours in Midgar, and then coming out and seeing this giant bright new world with so much wonder and possibility. If that wonder and possibility only lasts like an hour or something silly, that would just ruin the experience for the new people.

My experience with beginnings like Midgar, or Lahan through Bart's hideout in Xenogears, has been that they take maybe 8 hours the first time. Second playthrough is 6 hours while I'm much more of a completionist. Funny how that works. I was hoping the first game of the FFVII remake would make it all the way to Costa Del Sol or just before, with the boss fight aboard the ship. A tropical paradise is probably better suited for the beginning of game two. Disc one has so many small adventures prior to the Temple of the Ancients, they can take a lot of liberty expanding on those. However, if this whole thing goes beyond three or four games, I think people will get sick of spending money and sicker of waiting. For the subsequent installments, please be "FFVII Remake, <1st expansion>" over "FFVII, a Red XIII Story," (Roman numerals much). Level and item reset might be necessary, but when Aerondight became vendor trash in Witcher 2, qq. I mainly want the group to stay a group, like in the original. If you branch out into solo stuff, do mission-oriented tangents, like Cloud riding the dolphin, not the constant grumpiness and people going their own way in FFXIII.

Many publishers prefer to announce their projects when they have progressed quite far in development, but games like Kingdom Hearts 3 and the remake of Final Fantasy 7 have been revealed very early in advance, creating much anticipation from the fans. Would you have preferred waiting so as to not deal with the pressure and expectations from fans at such an early stage? Nomura: Deciding when to announce your game to the public is always difficult. I understand why some companies wait as long as possible, and I definitely think it's a good thing for them. But in our case, we receive pressure from the fans even when we do not announce anything. They're always asking us "are you working on this?" or "why don't you make a sequel for that?". Even after the announcement, the situation does not change, because then they'll move onto asking us "when will it release?" or "when will you show a new trailer?". People are waiting for new information regardless of whether the game has been announced or not. It's great when we manage to keep it secret for as long as possible, but these days, a lot of important projects become victims of rumors and leaks. Honestly, I prefer that we officially reveal one of our games instead of seeing a leak or a rumor circulating online. Especially when part of the development is outsourced to other companies, there is always the risk that people outside the in-house team will spread information and images online. It is even worse when, during the development, a fake rumor sprouts that people start to believe, and it becomes necessary to decide whether to answer and deny. The same thing happened with the remake of Final Fantasy 7. I am well aware of the fact that we announced it too early, but even in the industry, word was beginning to spread that we were working on the game, so we just decided not to keep it more secret and officially reveal it. Idk Broodie, I think over the shoulder camera is going to feel way more immersive with these games. Plus you kinda need it for the combat. I don't think FF7's combat holds up, so I don't blame them for making it way more actiony.
