What are people's thoughts on the Reapers and Skirmishers? They were useful early game and some of their abilities are fun, but I don't think their damage output keeps pace with the other classes. I'm not very good so maybe I'm missing some synergy opportunities?

Reaper is solid all the way through as an scout and because his ability to detonate stuff, pairs really well with sharpshooters as expected for a solid scout. Her regular damage is pretty bad once you get into magnetics and i expect to go worse with plasma, but utility wise i feel she is mandatory for many missions and squad configurations, specially since i got holotarget and shredding with her, so i can hit enemies while remaining in stealth for the rest of the squad. Skirmisher too soon for me to decide i think he is good because of the extra utility and mobility, but i find it hard to get him into team configurations at this point, i still take him because he is solid and i am rarely able to field my wanted configuration. Templar thus far is a dissapointment at the difficulty level i am playing, his damage is too darn low compared to a shotgun commando who pretty much does the same and has beast crits. Later on i hope he gets better. Overall they are much than regular classes early game because those have a rather slow start, but once sharpshooters and commandos ramp up, they are way far ahead in terms of damage output per turn and action reliability. And grenadiers ability to remove cover plus shredding plus rupture plus holotargetting is a premium right now to deal with the chosens and alien bosses. Also i have to admit i have a love/hate relationship with bonds. The panic with the other one gets hit can go really bad, never bond your reaper, really, it's not worth it.

Reaper is alot of fun too. scouting and setting up traps. Can solo pods without leaving stealth. Can solo rulers (has to leave stealth though so they dont escape). Can solo missions. But they can run out of tools. My Skirmisher was basically just an action point battery for my Reaper and a trashmob cleaner. His special Overwatch is nice though. I fucked up at chosen strongholds. Asassin and Hunter had take extra damage from explosions and then I never took explosives with me lol. But my setup pretty much allowed me to apply insane damage to chosen and altar in one round. Warlock fell victim to being weak vs Skirmishers and my Skirmisher going into obsession on seeing the Warlock and just melting him. Did alot of later promotions via cover missions (easiest way to get a fast captain). They should have really done a bit more for Ambushes. Had the same map/enemy pattern every time so far. Think I was rather lucky with breakthroughs and the random bonus skills and continent boni. And my Boss killer Team had insane stats at the end because of the ring missions. And of course they had every skill. My Sniper/Ranger bond team with Choosen weapons was just to good vs everything. Mechanic wise I really like the expansion. But the rest could have used a bit more polish. Same ambush every time ... and speaker propaganda after you fought in a lost area. Breaks the atmosphere a bit for me. There are also a ton of map hazards. First Low Profile got me really off guard. Luckily on that mission a stun lancer decided to join x-com. And Stun lancers are really overpowered when they aren't suicidal. Had a wild beast hazard too ... where the aliens just killed each other before i reached them. But what I really want now is play as the choosen hunter dlc ! I love him <3

And I wouldn't feel bad about save scumming. Heck, Long War can be really challenging even with save scumming. Plus, I've had a few ironman saves of Long War, as well Paradox games, be screwed up by bugs.

Pretty much ended my run. I saw a similar thing on a youtube video. Marbozir used frost bomb on one of his mind controlled soldiers and his soldier was still frozen when the sectoid died. That solider could not move or attack after the duration of freeze. A simple reload fixed the problem though

I can't =( I swear to God I've tried but either I'm too retarded to make the proper moves to ensure my soliders don't die on missions or the AI gets super lucky bullshit crits or dodged: grazed rolls that make me cry. i try watching Marbozir and ChristpherOdd play this game to learn from their legendary campaigns without savescumming, but the early missions with the 65 aim plebs are just too hard T.T I need not created equal and hidden potential for early crutch super soldiers. Interestingly enough, the mission I save-scummed the most on is the introductory mission for Elena and Mox. The first encounter with the Assassin was just beyond brutal. First time she attacked she 1-shot one of my soldiers, 2nd time she did only 3 dmg but bled him out, 3rd time I couldn't follow her movements on the map at all. She just kept going up/down the bridge and toyed with me too hard for me to do anything. Bitch with her 3 actions per turn and Usain Bolt sprints. 4th time I just didn't even shoot her once but after 6 turns she just up and left the map, and I was denied 5 points, it would've been acceptable but zombies got 1 of my soliders on the way to the extraction point -.- 5th reload the bitch finally hid behind a car and I got her with explosives. Claymore+grenade+car explosion = 1 dead Chosen. Some information about what you CAN savescum and CAN'T: CAN: Mission rewards - supplies/intel/engineer/scientist etc. Dark Events for the month SITEREPs (I once rolled ADVENT spy satellite - basically gives you complete maphack. You see all pods and the whole map :D) Resistance Mission Rewards (can roll even promotions) Inspired Research/Breakthroughts CAN'T: Chosen STR/Weaknesses Resistance Orders Ammo & grenade, experimental heavy weapon reward from Guerilla Ops

First turn she attacks Mox for 4 damage and disappears in a building. 2nd turn she dazes 4 fucking people with a psiwave. 3rd turn she kills Mox ![]() I thought reapers vektor weapons as sniper rifles at first but they are really good in close combat too. Especially since hunter in my game had a weakness called Brittle which caused her to take more damage in close combat. Combining it with reaper damage bonus, elena hit her for 10 damage in so it made the fight really easier after i noticed it.

To be honest. Losing a few soldiers and missions isn't game ending. I understand the frustration and stuff, but once you just stop taking it so seriously that you feel everything has to be perfect or otherwise you lost you will have a lot more fun with the game rather than an exercise of half enjoyment and half frustration because sometimes things don't go exactly how you want them to go. Xcom 2 is better balanced than xcom eu. Even in the hardest difficulty aborting missions or losing soldiers isn't that big of a deal in the long run. Bug, i can understand, but the problem is the self-control between what really constitutes a bug, or if you think bullshit can be accepted as a bug, and therefore reload.

Concealment seemed buggy in the network tower mission, my reaper had the same detection radius as other units, made it quite useless as 3rd of the strike force there. Gladly I brought 2 op melee units to clean the map with. Started new campaign with random faction, got templars and my first chosen is assassin. As expected she shows up in the first retaliation mission and for some reason does nothing but camp at the map edge until I actually move to her. She sat on a rooftop, summoned 1 trooper and shot the only civilian I lost there. No stealth, no stabby stabby, just stood there for turn and a half and got shot to death. Okay, I'll take it!

I was concealed until i reached the VIP. Apparently it was an ambush so as soon as i approached her 2 reinforcement flares went down + the hunter chosen + a snakeman and a stun lancer saw my guys. 4 reinforcement units after that for 3 turns + other pods patrolling around. I think dealing with hunter tranquilizer + lancer stun + snakeman snare + sectoid mind control is too much at once :D Luckily extraction point was close to where VIP was so i extracted her and one of my soldiers. I couldn't help others because they were stunned/dazed/bleeding ![]()

![]() Edit - It was one of the underground extractions ? Then you have to engage them differently than regular VIPs.
