Yeah, its a 6 Squares scatter baseline, with -2 if you took the perk for more accuracy and -2 if you didnt move prior to firing the rocket. So even in optimal situations you have a possible 2 square scatter which seems too much. Technically you get abit less scatter from high aim, but then you get more scatter (effective -X aim) if you shoot your rocket farther than 8 tiles away...
The next LW2 patch is supposed to visualize that scatter like it did in LW1, I'd love to see the base scatter reduced as well. (like 4 baseilne and -2 for perk and -2 for not moving, so if you dont move, are specialized and dont shoot farther than 8 tiles you actually hit the tile you aimed at....)
That said, flamethrower is so much fun vs large groupds, esp if you get a free smoke or got an officer granting an extra action to run to cover again afterwards
Edit:
get tandem warheads and it doesn't matter anymore no matter what. Oh, didnt try Tandem warheads yet, thanks for pointing out. Still feels like alot of conditions (only 1-3 uses, don't move before shooting, get 2 perks, get aim), especially when compared to a Grenadier (only needs first lvl perk for cover destruction, can move, gets 1-4 uses, also high dmg with more perks/alien grenades).

Its maximum 2 square shift but thats based off of your aim like shooting. So if you have 70 aim you have a roll on if it shifts or not. I don't know the math they do but its not useualy 2 shifts and its a large aoe so you wouldn't notice it if you aim right.
Grenadier has a less obvious tradeoff for sapper and its cover breaking isn't as wholesome or as reliable as a rocket. not to mention you want the guy packing as many flashbangs as you can to get those super accurate bangs more then him doing damage. exo suit gives you two rockets.
There is a perk almost near the end of the line with the tech that allows you to move after flaming or to flame again on your turn. Burnout also gets you free smoke after every flame.

On LW2 Veteran, I got 17 days to infiltrate a mission (and cherry on the top, it counters a Dark Event). Is it because I earlier got the regional mission that gives you unrestricted intel activities for a while, or was a really lucky?
However, I also complete a mission (albeit with 3 big wounds) that was supposed to counter a dark event (I know this because I'm a save-scumming scrub) but as soon as I returned home the DE activated anyway.

Yes, because I first aborted the infiltration of the mission, which caused the DE to trigger. Then I decided to save-scum and beat the mission, but still triggered the DE. I am also certain that their were no other missions on the geoscape that countered a DE

And they can spawn in any region in the world, not only ones where you contacted the resistance. This is why I asked are you 100% sure that DE that activated is exactly the one you stopped?

I reloaded the mission from the last turn's autosave (Only two enemies left on a ambush mission so it was rather quick) and now when I returned home from the mission the Dark Event in question didn't trigger. The only thing that differed was (1) how I dealt with the remaining 2 vipers (2) I didn't give my soldiers promotion at the AAR screen
So yeah, I'm 100% certain that the mission was going to counter a DE

Could be a bug, though it's sometimes hard to tell bugs from features in this mod . I've had a squad never return from a mission, they disappeared from the map after the mission was over and the armory screen would just have them as infiltrating.

That one has a workaround : they added a console command in patch 1.1 to recover the infiltrating squad (LWForceSquadPostMissionCleanup <squad name> from the console)

Really thought I disabled Alien Hunters for my current campaign, but then a ruler showed up. Makes no sense. When I'm missing all of my 60-70% shots in a mission, I'm not too interested in a boss being thrown into the mix.

You have to do it that way, otherwise you are just disabling the Nest-mission

Combined with your report, the game seems to still have lots of bugs around DE.

The checkbox on game start just disables the story content, it doesn't actually disable the rulers. The two ways to disable them are either disable the content on Steam, or select it on game start and just don't ever do the mission.

Cool..luckily it showed up early so I don't mind restarting the campaign too much.

If hes playing Long War 2 then that doesn't work.

Also, in LW2 Alien rulers "only" get an action around every 4th of your soldiers action, not every 1 action like in the vanilla game.
Makes them hard, but doable
Would be a nightmare otherwise o.0

Guys (and girls ofc)? It just happened that I encountered a serious bug: All the enemies dont walk, shoot or do anything anymore. They just stand there waiting to be killed. My game is literally over, if this does not disappear. Is this only me or does anyone else have this problem? If so, what shall I do? Don´t want to start again
