This whole thing SCREAMS "not Fallout by a long shot" all over! Seriously, it's like Call of Duty: Slightly Wasteland Edition. Like, watching it was painful as a fan of Fallouts. ![]()

Anyway I skipped most sandbox games, and choosen Fallout 4 to fill that spot. And like every sandbox game it will probably deliver in that regard and fail everywhere else. Why would one expect more from a sandbox title anyway.

That said, having essential characters like in Skyrim would make me angry. I don't know if that's the case, does anyone know? I've heard that the dog is immortal, which is kind of saddening.

That was what I loved most about, say, New Vegas compared to Skyrim - The quests had more outcomes than going to a place, killing a guy, getting an item, and returning. That and having long-term consequences to your actions. I'm definitely disappointed with some decisions thus far but this at least would make me a happy man. I'm afraid you're in for some disappointment. New Vegas was made by Obsidian Entertainment, while Fallout (not-really) 4 is being developed by Bethesda. Briliant art style, wonderful atmosphere of the world and kinda meh graphic technical wise. F4 looks like Rage 2 or CoD with slightly postapocalyptic edge, that doesn't bode well.

I'm aware of that. And I don't quite care, to be honest. I really enjoyed Skyrim and Fallout 3, despite some of the bad parts. I also know that many people are pessimistic about it, but I'm keeping up hope that Bethesda was able to learn from some of their mistakes in Skyrim and 3. It looks like some of my complaints are still in there (like romance options being available to any gender for all characters, which is just lazy writing) but even if the gameplay is just Skyrim with guns I'll still play the shit out of it. Fallout 3, developed by Bethesda, had the same kind of non-violent, alternative solutions that I'm talking about, like all the ways you can deal with the Vampires in Meresti Train Station, or the quest with Roy and Tenpenny Tower. In RPGs, I love being able to leverage non-combat skills like Science, Medicine, Speech, and so on into special bonuses or better outcomes, so as long as I can do that I don't care what Bethesda do with the gameplay. I just wanna know if there'll be essential characters or not.

Your own fault if you play on console anyway. There's a reason as to why you never play good looking games on consoles if you can prevent it. PS4 is not powerful enough, and Xbone doesn't even manage 1080p in the first place on many games. The PC screenshots i saw are decent enough to not give me eyecancer. That's all i care for. edit: but one has to love the people bashing graphics of a trailer based of console footage. The weaker console at that. Well done.

Didn't feel excited either, just confused about the institute comes to you thing. And well that there was a robot type of thingie that looked like they forgot that in the fallout universe certain things were never invented. Apparently, they're all only made at what used to be MIT in Boston, which I guess is why we never saw them on the west coast.

Fallout is supposed to be bleak and witty in the face of the (post-)apocalypse, not laden with illusions of grandeur. Not sure what you mean with illusions of grandeur here but if youre talking about silly goofy fallout stuff, that's been in every fallout except 1. The one thing I actually really dislike about the art style is how the interface looks. Seriously what is up with besthesda and their 'minimalistic' interfaces. Skyrim's UI looked like shit, this looks like shit. How did we go from beautifully themed UI's like Oblivion's and Fallout 3/new Vegas to this?

If you'd prefer a game that allows you to out-mechanic over-level content, then, like you said, you can always play an Elder Scrolls or ME game. Modern day fallout is an elder scrolls game with guns instead of bows.
