A newbie adventurer is not immortal. Most things in the world will be deadly to you. Being able to go anywhere and have all threats simply be in fightable range is utterly illogical.

What kind of sense does it make that the other 4 of my shots didn't hit despite the fact the cursor was exactly on his head because my Aim skill wasn't maxed? Content leveling with you isn't that great, but look at ESO for example. The content has its own required level, but you can outplay and beat content 5-6 levels above you if you're good at the game and know your class. Any higher than that and it starts getting into 3-4 shot territory and you can't really do much. It also LETS YOU KNOW what level shit is so you know whether or not you should avoid it. Something Fallout never does. If they want to go full RPG, just make combat turn based and kill a bit of the immersion in return for actual sane combat. Otherwise, fuck this pseudo-FPS bullshit.

Damage of weapons is the biggest problem, agreed. If you do actually hit, why does it matter how skilled you are? Do you mod your weapon or ammunition to get bigger impacts? The way to solve it would be to have weapons and ammunition tiers. Starting with 60 year old, severely decayed and progressing to future tech weapons not using bullets or ones that use things like .50 caliber ammunition with various extras. Explaining it by making your own ammunition at weapon benches would be a logical way to use skill points but not all that fun game play wise.

I speculate that by removing skills, the perks will just help out elsewhere while general aiming can be tightened to actual fps levels. If this is true, I will buy the shit out of this game. I don't think it is, though, since the early footage shows VATS intact. Where there's VATS, there's skills interfering with FPS gameplay.

There are plenty of ways to make the game an RPG while keeping the action elements out of that. There is nothing more annoying than playing a game that looks like an action game and being able to see the dice rolls with each shot.

Where there's VATS, there's skills interfering with FPS gameplay. They did away with the old skill system, which is good since gunplay in FO3 was way too clunky until I dumped a decent chunk of points into the gun skills. From what I've seen out of the leaked perks, there are just three perks that improve hip-fire accuracy. I don't think that'll be a big deal since the targeting reticle is a traditional FPS one unlike the static FO3 one, and looking down sights seems to consistently shoot accurate shots according to the gameplay that I've watched. But I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to decide and lots of gameplay to watch once the game comes out in less than a week.

But the boring ass FPS gameplay, every time I see a video about it, I know I'm going to hate it. Seems slow, sluggish and without an once of the tactical aspect that made the first 2 interesting. Maybe, maybe, if I can grab it for 5€ or something in a year, I'll still give it a try...

I'd put you up for most pointless post of the thread award but that huxley fool pretty much took the cake and ate it too. Comparing modern fallout to 1/2/tactics is such a dried up subject. They took the brand and rebooted it with 3 for modern systems / trends, its not a hard thing to comprehend.

How's that more pointless than every other post in this thread? How's your post not pointless? I don't know man, just stating my feeling like everybody... It just so happens that I'm not as enthusiast as you...I'd put you up for most pointless post of the thread award but that huxley fool pretty much took the cake and ate it too.
