I dont care for a 2D over the top RPG. I want 3D fallout like vegas. Those 2D games get really boring fast imo.

Boring trailer. Also really ugly texture on the doggy :-x
Loved Fallout 3 and Vegas though so I'm still pretty excited.

Just watched the trailer, as a massive fan of fallout 3 this has defiantly lowered my expectations. I don't understand the need to call something the new instalment (IE Fallout 4) if it's basically an expansion. They made the decision to put 4 on the end, implying a new engine/generation of the game, and yet the trailer clearly wasn't. The rebuttal graphics has 0 to do with gameplay, while I understand what they are saying, this is not always true. Fallout is a very story driven game, relying on immersing you into its world, as such, the graphics play an important role in this.
It's really not acceptable for such a large developer with a lot of money at their disposal in a story driven game, which hasn't even come out I might add, to look like this. The Witcher is already out and has significantly better graphics, we don't even know for sure when it’s release is, by the time it comes out it may be competing with the like of the division, in which case it will look like total trash. I just hope it's the xbox/ps version and that the next trailer shows some serious improvements.

I think, one interesting is, trailers are meant to create excitement and hype but this trailer(no matter what you get from it) seems create mostly disappointment and desperation in the community. At least in here

I don't get all the fallout 3 hate i think it was a very good game and in NV they improved/fixed some stuff and had a (much) better mainquest+ Show Spoiler + making NV one of my favorite games ever but those games are not really about playing the mainquest. I just really love the worlds Bethesda creates in these games for the player to explore. The only thing i dread is that they put lvl scaling on every thing like they did in skyrim and oblivion. It makes exploration so much worse when u find the same quality of stuff everywhere and you can go into the most dangerous areas right from the start because of enemy scaling (it was so annoying in Oblivion that your character was the strongest he would ever be on lvl1). + Show Spoiler + also i know that all bethesda games have some lvl scaling but in the fallout games it was allways allot less noticable than in the elder scrolls games If the game is exactly like new vegas in a new cool setting to explore it will probably still be one of the best games to come out this year (at least for me).

When the trailer is CGI rendered : "Yeah but these trailers means nothing, we want in game trailer" When the trailer is In Game footage : "Yeah but wtf no CGI slugfest hype"
They decided to release a game with the game engine and I think that it is a good choice.

I think the time for inengine stuff is when they feel like they've got something interesting to show. Right now I'm just not sure what they really wanted to demonstrate here. It doesn't really shine as a tech demo and it doesn't really introduce anything new or interesting to the content we already know from the first two Fallouts or so. Meanwhile the trailer seems more than eager to revisit the nostalgia stuff with dogs, old timey music, power armors, the war never changes littany and all that.
Maybe Boston will be amazing or maybe the airships allow something awesome, but I don't think the trailer managed to communicate much of that.

I am very hyped for Fallout 4, graphics notwithstanding. For me the games have always been about the story first. After time passes on every game looks crappy anyways. Gameplay/Story > Graphics imo.

Btw, it would be nice if every video game thread title didn't have an exclamation mark :D. I know we're excited for all these games, but it's easily confused with other games which do have an exclamation mark in their name, like "Osu!" (currently we have in the left panel: Fallout 4!, The Witcher 3!, and Osu!). And frankly it looks a bit silly, the simple mention of the game's real name should be plenty! of hype! already!

If I ever make a video game thread I'l remember to add three exclamation marks just for you!

Pretty sad that they've already scheduled 5 DLC packs. Rmember the good old days when you know... they had extra content in the game instead of microtransactions.
|
I have no issue with DLC content as that's how the game industry makes a lot of their money post-sale. I do hate FORCED DLCs for online play however, but that's not the problem in this case.
And the DLCs in NV were plenty of fun, but definitely not part of the game itself. I'm alright with them being separate from the main storyline.

edit: lol, i should probably learn 2 read

Never played fallout 1 and 2 (my loss I know) but to me fallout 3 was an incredibly fun game despite the obviously bad game engine. I am super hyped for fallout 4 and cannot wait till its release.

Thought this is worth sharing. Pictures inside the Imgur album of the trailer. Significant difference, imo.

Not that I mind about graphic that much, this much is still plenty enough for me

And one thread saying saying Mad Max was a rip off of Fall Out.
