It seems like they want to try to balance the map rather than accept that the map is imbalanced and use stopwatch to mark skill. A noble effort, much more difficult than the alternative, and arguably futile. No even if it is totally possible to attack/defend on each map purely based on skill, stop watch is still the better way. If a team wins on both sides nothing changes. If both teams win one side stopwatch is simply more accurate though. There is no logical explanation why it should be a draw when one team came WAY closer to winning both sides. Time (and distance) is simply a part of payload, it's only natural that it would be part of the method to figure out who wins a match.

http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20743494301 My very first experience with Overwatch was during the first closed beta weekend event. ... Honestly, it might have been the most fun I've ever had playing a game, ever. I was absolutely shocked at how amazing the game felt and played. I would estimate that we put in over 35 hours of game time during that event. We just could not put the game down. Then it was taken from me and I honestly didn't know what to do with myself. Every other game felt boring in comparison and I found myself reading up on every single piece of Overwatch information I could get my hands on. In a word, it was kind of pathetic.

Ended up watching this whole thing. Blizzard had to change it up than doing their usual IP every game. And Overwatch happened beautifully. One of the very very few games that I look forward to playing when Im away from home.

If the map is perfectly balanced, and the more skilled team always wins regardless of what side they're on, then sudden death is just as skill testing without penalizing slower strategies/team comps (i.e. not mobility based compositions) that are overly favored in stopwatch.

Slower strategies are always worse in payload though, that's how the gamemode works, nothing to do with stopwatch. Payload already favors fast executes, especially considering how overwatch works as a game (hero switches, fast respawns, etc) This in built time factor in payload already makes the decision to completely ignore time/distance to decide who wins more than weird. As i said before it is absurd that it's a draw when one team won the map easily and the other was in overtime on every check point. (or even worse one was close to winning the attack, the other didn't even get to the first checkpoint) It's simply bs that these scenarios are a draw, why? Because the whole concept of payload already paints time/distance as a deciding factor which is why blizzard's reasoning is bad. Nothing new though, blizzard does weird decisions all the time these days, just for the sake of it it seems like

They want ranked to be a progression. So if you play alot you get heroic no matter what, unless you are not trying I guess. Once you hit heroic you basically play a real ranked mode when it is implemented. So weird Blizzard ranking system all over, but it seems to keep more people interested that way. But right now Sudden Death system is a horrible experience. You play 2 meaningless matches and then decide the winner with 1 control point. I think they need to give points for checkpoints reached atleast. I can see 12 people deciding to just skip to Sudden Death when the game is out for a while, as you lose less points and end up there anyway. Or game modes that don't allow draws. For example a payload pushing that goes in both directions and after some time the team wins that pushed it more to the opponents side. with the spawn being a certain distance towards the payload. Anyway their ranked needs work and they are aware of that. But they want to try to find something that is better then Stopwatch. So GL to them. Also Tracer comps are so yesterday after the recent patch. ![]()

Overall for competitive play in the style of overwatch it is probably best to not have an attacker/defender at all

Did really wanna hear more about what they had planned, why it failed, and why Overwatch was what they cobbled together from the scraps of the titan development. I have to imagine that they want to use those ideas for something, or maybe they're kinda afraid that by bringing attention to Titan, they take away the spotlight from Overwatch. I can't blame them but at the same time I'm sooo curious of what they were even trying to do.

Tracer, as mentioned, was a huge part of it. Maybe she's like the Jaina of Titan. Main protaganist etc. Maybe it's some sort of I, Robot / Matrix thing where robots are sentient and want to leave a peaceful life together with humans (as seen in the widowmaker short). There are opposing camps and there are wars because of that, that's most likely the factions. Anti-Robot and Pro-Robots lol... What if the method to brainwash widowmaker was a program originally for robots. so we have the pro-robot camp wanting to "free" the enslaved. Baddies found a way to use the program as a mindcontrol tool, and widowmaker was a successful experiment. haha, i'm rambling. maybe part 2 and 3 of the video will tell us a little bit more about the original ideas/stories in titan

Benefit of the massive doubt, if you're spraying long enough with an AK, sure, that works, but you don't START aiming at their feet. And also never spray with an AK for that long.

Gearbox took a bit of a shot at Overwatch at PAX East ![]() talking about some Overwatch COSPlayer playing Battleborn or something. Tracer pose explanation in part 3. Her new pose still has her ass sticking out. each character can only have a certain level of sexualized content. otherwise this game is about sex and not about shooting people... just say it Kaplan.... rather than dancing around the issue. when i play Overwatch i'm there to shoot and kill things and i'm not there for T&A. If i want to pay for that i'll turn off my PC ; i'll stop playing Overwatch ; i'll head to the local lap dancing dive tavern. if Blizz removes every ass pose i could care less.. the game is called Overwatch not Liesure Suit Larry 3.
