![]() The problem is that the math they have been using the past ~3 expansions is nonsensical. When you have so much shit increasing damage (mastery/crit/haste/int/multi/versatilty, rather than just spellpower/crit/haste and hit that removes a penatly instead of adding numbers) you can NOT grow things exponentially and expect it to work like in the early day of wow. Lower raw numbers on items all you want, but actual dps numbers will always skyrocket through the fucking roof because of all the % bonuses stacking together. It's the same as stacking dps cooldowns instead of chaning them, there's a world of difference there. I've actually been considering doing some serious math behind this and making a huge post on the wow forums, but meh cba. I hope someone in the wow team knows enough math to figure it out ![]() | ||

1) actually increase how stats scale for low lvl characters so that gear progression actually matters again before lvl 85, but 2) reduce it drastically for higher levels, say going from exponential to parabolic growth 3) remove versatility and reduce the scaling of the other stats to compensate (so you lose versatility, but the % bonuses of everything else remains unchanged), 4) nerf the ap/sp coefficients of everything to about one third of what they are now 5) be more conservative from one expansion to the other, to the point where mythic gear from the last tier of an expansion is about as good as dungeon gear from the next. For example, wod 5man heroics would drop ~590 ilvl. Nerf set bonuses as levels increase to compensate. Compare that to early Cata greens being ilvl 272, which is better than what most people had coming off ICC 6) possibly reduce the total number of levels, thus giving characters lower base stats I would have to do the math but all those would be more effective and less stupid than the current squish. | ||

One of the first Brutallus kills (which was basically Patchwerk, and the benchwark for single target dps late into TBC), the top dps has like ~2.2k. Iirc during the final burn Archimonde took extra damage, so your 2k dps might probably just be good rng during that phase ![]() Also, my most sincere congratulations to those 3 mages for actually having a raid spot for that fight >.< | ||

The way they are currently doing the stat squish is that 1-60 is basically linear, then 60-90 is basically flat, so if they did another stat squish at the end of WoD they would only touch 90-100 gear and make it all basically the same as current 60-90 gear. It is a somewhat strange way of doing it, but I can't say i would dislike the idea of having fixed numbers for current expansion dps ( always 5k-10k during leveling, always 20k going in heroic raids, always 40k at the end of first tier etcetc) | ||

Hunter feels alright but there's shockingly few buttons 1-59 and maybe until WOD, a lot of the stuff like Hunter's Mark and Volley are gone too which is weird. Multi-shot was god awful until the level ~45ish passive unlock (you needed to hit like 14 targets for it to be worth casting) but with level ~45-60+ it's much better, it's still not as fun as old Volley though :D No aspects and no melee at all will be weird for a while. The range you can actually hit stuff with ranged attack is like 1.5x bigger with no dead zone and a bit further reach, and there's literally no reason to stand still because everything like Aimed Shot just casts while moving. I wasn't aware of that even after raiding with MM hunters | ||
