there is no reason to produce another RTS for blizzard until SC-LotV comes out. ecspecially when there is no other competitive RTS game. imo

LotV will come out soon enough, and then WC4 will come out and probably suck, but it will come!
its interesting to me that the Chinese Crowd likes Moon so much. I thought theyd like their own players more
It's pleasantly surprising to see that so many people are sad that WC3 is now pretty much officially gone in the West. There are still plenty of tournaments and cups in China, however this was probably the very last big tournament we will ever see in the western part of the world.
There will still be Zotac, but damn.. I'm both sad it's over and happy so many people care. WC3 is the best game ever made, and if Blizzard were to make a HD remake (seriously, nothing new, only better graphics, more maps and a few balance changes), I'm sure a lot of people would be very happy.
WC3 Resurrection!
edit: Special mention to Khaldor for his cast. Even though the WCG stream was messing up, he casted each game with a passion and it was showing that he still is a genuine fan of the game, I loved that. Like I said, I've never seen him cast like that on SC2, but maybe my WC3-biased memory is making me forget things. Nonetheless, I sent him a thank you message on his FB page, I suggest you people do the same, he earned it!
im probably the only one who wanted Th000 to win. hes been the most creative and fun player to watch. he went random in game1! he plays Undead and Nightelf like noone else does. his wardenplay is godlike! felt a little bad for him when the hall went so quiet after his win. he also has a mad look, i bet hes highly intelligent

I think if you have been following Crota, you would be a mad th000 fan. Crota showcases a lot of his creativity.

Hi all, I have a small question: Could any NE aficionado tell me roughly how should my resource gathering look like when I go T2 ? I mean maybe a number of wisps on lumber duty or having an expo. I ask because my resource intake seems to fall at T2 and I can't constantly make units and/or upgrades.
To give a question some context I open 2 AoW Huntress into T2 Bears or MG sometimes getting Glaives. Also tell me if maybe I'm too broad and it's a more matchup specific thing.

Big thx in advance !
Hello McRatyn, and welcome to the thread!
Typically, one doesn't mass T1 AND go T2 after, it's kind of counter-productive. The whole point of going mass T1 is to put a lot of pressure early on to either end the game right there due to your superiority in numbers or push while you expand. A good example is Moon's strategy of going Beastmaster first into mass Huntresses, followed by 1-2 or more expands with constant pressure. When he does that strategy, Moon techs very late, if he techs at all. He relies on his Hero leveling and his massive production of units due to his expand(s).
If you wish to proceed into a normal T2/T3 game, you need to skip the 2nd AoW and only go for 1. What a NE typically does is use their AoW to creep (you can watch any professional replay of any NE for that, on say http://war3.replays.net/) and then build I believe 3 Moon Wells with about 6-8 Wisps on wood into going T2. When you reach T2, if you haven't been harassed, forced into building AoW to defend yourself or lost any Wisp, you should have at least 300 wood, 4 to 5 Moon Wells and a Hunter's Hall.
Also, T2 Bears are pretty bad, as the Bears are really a T3 unit with their bear form (hence the name!). The really good T2 unit NE have are the Dryads. Abuse them. I also suggest that you don't spend too much money on upgrading. Unlike SC2, upgrades aren't vital in WC3 and every upgrade you make represents one less unit you could have in a ~90 food supply army at its peak. The only upgrade NE should get every single game is the Ultravision one, as it gives a nice advantage at night on top of Shadow Meld and Moon Wells. Basically, no expansion, no upgrades (aside from Ultravision).
Bottom line, going mass T1 works as NE and is definitely a viable strategy, although it depends on the match-up and the map. Going mass T1 Huntresses into expand works rather well in I would say 3 out of 4 match-ups: NE vs HU, NE vs Orc and mirror. Against UD, it doesn't work so much because Undead have good nukes, even on T1 with a lv3 DK, a very tough base to fight in and they generally tech very quickly, granting them access to very good T2 units such as upped Fiends or Gargoyles, and mostly their second Hero to nuke your army down.
To sum it up, if you intend to tech, you shouldn't make 2 AoWs. One is plenty enough. Your army, if unaltered, upon reaching T2 should be 5-6 Archers and your Hero, that's about it. Of course, games don't always go without any interference, you might lose units, you might have to make AoWs to defend yourself from a tower rush or what have you, but I wouldn't recommend making more than 6 Archers, 7 at the most. This is a general statement, as I'm sure there are some unique situations where you would benefit from that.
You should read the OP, you'll see a lot of tips at the end of the post along with a breakdown of each race, including NE.
Have fun!

I'm afraid you're mistaken there. BNet has, on average, 30000 to 50000 people (as I said, 30k to 50) while SC2 has over 1 million players on every day.

Wow thanks for a quick reply! You are right about the tier two Bear, unfortunate phrasing on my part or maybe I just didn't think it through ;P I actually know nothing about strategy yet and don't really comprehend how things work with each other in WC3 so I was trying to blindly follow a guide I found Guide to NE by Matt McClosky aka Distortion. I'll try to take your advice and see what happens
I'd also like to say tat I'm positively surprised how easy it is to find games on the EU server! Seems like a lot of people are still playing WC3, that's really nice :D
I see. I skimmed through the guide, and while it does give a lot of information about the other aspects of the race, the strategies aren't that good. He basically recommends you to go double AoW every time before you tech to produce mass Huntresses. Mass Huntresses slows down your tech by quite a bit. I also believe the build he gives for mass Huntresses isn't that efficient, as it basically deprives you of units until you have 2 AoWs - very, very bad. That's an invitation to being tower rushed. It's been a while since I've played any NE, but I believe you are supposed to put up your first AoW simultaneously with your Hunter's Hall, and then make another AoW later on. In any case, massing Huntresses works at low levels, but nowadays, most people will be able to deal with it unless you really know what you're doing. Mass T1 actually requires quite a bit of skill and knowledge, as you have to show a good game sense in order to know if your attack will be successful or if you should expand and creep and wait until later to push.
You can build 2 AoWs before you tech, but one of those would be purely to AoW creep and wouldn't produce units until later on, if at all. I strongly recommend you look into AoW creeping, as it is one of the major strengths of NEs early on. Basically, the concept is building an AoW near a creep camp, although out of aggression range, build one Archer after it finishes and then uproot it to move it over to the creeps in order to let it take and deal damage while your Archer/Hero remains unharmed. You do have to be careful, as any unit killed (read: last hit) by an AoW, or any building for that matter, be it or a tower or an Ancient, does not give any experience. For that reason, you have to make sure either your Hero or your Archer delivers the last hit on every creep.
I'll give you an example: you're on Echo Isles, spawning on the left side. Directly to the top right of your base, you have a green creep camp with an Ogre and two Trolls. You can place your AoW by the trees near that camp and let it build, make one Archer, uproot the AoW and make it eat 1-2 trees while you attack the creeps with your Archer and make it walk back to safety, behind the AoW. Once the creeps are lured toward your AoW, attack the Ogre with it and let it tank. It will heal up thanks to the trees you ate and won't come any close to dying. Make sure to deliver the last blow with an Archer or your Hero, and you're good to go, almost level 2 without any damage taken to your units.
Thanks to this technique, you can safely creep without using any energy on your Moon Wells. Some NEs push it further and go harass with their Hero while the Archer and the AoW finish up the camp by themselves, but one shouldn't do that unless they know they can pay attention to both the Hero and the creeping, as it is necessary to be careful about the last hit.
I simply suggest you watch even one replay of a professional NE player, and you'll learn a ton already.
And yes, WC3 really isn't that dead. I think the enthusiasm for the WCG showed that. The crowd was pretty massive and it did get a decent amount of viewers on Twitch, about 3k per match. Granted, the WCG were in China, where WC3 is still huge.
