As a lifelong Wc3 , like you @Spalylz I wished it was Wc3 first but lets be honest and objective, BW needs this shit , Bnet there is completely dead , and I mean COMPLETELY , BW is picking up again big time in S.Korea and they want to capitalize on it and provide support...... and I have a theory why they.....because they truly fucked up with Wc3 ! When the game was gaining life again with WCA they didnt do shit to grow it further , they didn't provide support to fan made hubs and mods which could've made them alot of money (Dota anyone ?) and NOW they realize they have that chance again with BW and they will not waste it. At least this gives us the excuse we need , if they can give BW all that shit , there is no good reason not to give it for Wc3! we have a great game here guys , we just have to wait , I'm sure Blizzard won't leave us hanging , the next Wc3 patch is supposed to make patching later on easier , which means there is still more to come.

It is amazing they've done SC1 in just over a year, however it was the smallest game. It's also possible they remaster D2 next... That's actually not a half bad answer that he gives! Like, I expected it to simply be "we can't talk about that at this time". But he DEFINITELY hints that this is a part of something bigger, and that the other games should be easier to update since they're more recent, and will likely be more like 8 months post-SC2 remastered. Though I think he also sort of implies D2 will be next. Since it would both make sense chronologically, as well as not having to split up the RTS audience. Given that, I'll call it now: Diablo II Remastered will be announced at Blizzcon 2017, and released June 29th, 2018: It's 18th Anniversary (with some tongue-in-cheek marketing around the fact that now the game is officially old enough to play itself according to its M rating from ESRB when it was first released). Could be that they just announce it then, but I'm guessing that'll be the release date. Bit harder to say for WC3 but I would guess sometime before the end of 2018.

What they did with native FISH support for BW is really good. If they did that with w3arena/garena/netease perhaps it would be a bonus to the community. WC3 doesn't have the 'legendary' aura that BW does though. I grew up playing WC3 but I can't claim that it is THE esport of the world. I don't know if there is as much hype for warcraft as there is for starcraft.

Not to say BW custom games weren't good or Warcraft 3 doesn't have an amazing melee game, but I think thats the consensus for the very casual person. But yea, as much as I would LOVE to see a War3 remake/remaster, I think right now it just needs something similiar to the 1.18 patch for BW. When they do come around to War3, I'm really looking forward to it, because I feel they can be very liberal with changes, since they'll be dealing with 3D assets, not really the weird spaghetti stuff, and the War 3 community will be more open to balance changes, when the time does come along. Oh well, we'll get ours, its inevitable, but I just wish they could throw us a bone, like a substantial bone where we can go out and let people know that War3 is coming back.

However considering the overall improvement of the Chinese gaming scene (thanks to the more disposable income for your average Chinese gamer), publishing a bigger updates/remaster might mean a business opportunity for Blizzard to get some good money out of the huge Chinese market. The original War 3 was heavily pirated and right now it is offered for free in China by Blizzard's partner Netease to promote their matchmaking platform. An official remake to relaunch the title when there was still a large enough fanbase that are nostalgic to it may be a smart decision, if only for business sake.
