So, the purpose of this thread is to try and find or remember old friggen games that you cant quite put a name to.
My game that eludes me is an old knights and castle game, where you could build your castle walls and towers and defend them. Now, this is fucking old as hell, like it came with a floppy disk I think, and I must have had the demo... because there was a section grayed out. Essentially you tried to make a kingdom, against different factions of Europe or something. (Once you were attacked the game pre played the battle out, until one team fell.) I remember buying Knights or Archers at the end of each turn, and Knights took on like 3 or 4 footmen at a time. The graphics were pretty terrible, but not quite stick figures. Anyways snowballs chance in hell, but It was my first "RTS."
And I just found the other game I was looking for... Descent. Man that game. I played that for so long!

Descent!!!! holy shit!! I loved that game. Thank you so much
I'll contribute with Dune II:

Had this old NES game, it was set up sort of like a chess board, and when you attacked with something, it would go into this battlescreen where these creatures would fight and shoot each other and stuff. What the hell was that?

Not one I forgot the name of, but this game right here, Hovercraft. I think it came on a disk the guy threw in when we bought our first Windows 95 PC

Its a game that came with the soundblaster kit (it was a demo actually). It had an aerial view similiar to diablo, and you controlled a red tropper inside a ship/base or something, i think it had a number on the name (1000 or 2000) but no sure.
It was similar to this: + Show Spoiler +

I played this on PC, I believe around 1994-1997. Quite toony, platform game where you play a sort of roundish ninja like character. In terms of graphics it was most comparable with sonic the hedgehog. I think there were 2 versions of the game, 1 with a boy ninja and 1 with a girl ninja, it could have been that I had a version demo though... In my memory the characters look a bit like LoL's Kennen: + Show Spoiler +

This thread is a really cool idea. I have two games to identify if anyone could help:
The first game I'm 80% sure was from the SNES. You played some guy that could transform into a pool of slime, and the goal of the game was to haunt and scare the crap out of some family living in a house by sneaking around. Every now and then you'd fall through a crack or something? and would have to do some mini-game collecting slime.
The other game I think was snes too, but I can vaguely recall any of the details about it. All I remember is that you played some abstract, cartoonish alien character, and were on the moon or somewhere in space pushing around a shopping cart, and either you threw tomatoes, or other things in space threw tomatoes at you. It was kinda sandboxy.

Mh I don't really think it's the game you're looking for, but maybe Conqueror 1086 A.D.? I loved that game as a kid. You basically have a turn based world map where you build your own kingdom and castles, but it's also half RPG since you can buy items for yourself and fight in your own battles in first person and participate in jousting tournaments and what not . Kind of like Mount and Blade.
