It's all about the actual combat and map control as far as i can tell from the trailer. Personally i like the starcraft approach, but i think this newer concept could be fun as well if the units are exciting to play with. RTS as a genre needs something like this if it wants to be really successful again i think and i am kinda fine with that if the game is still competitive enough for me personally. (i wouldn't want to change sc2 in something like this though!)

Pros : - I'm very relieved that their is apparently no creep waves, that was one of the things i feared the most. - Unit speed is low, close to War3, very nice for micro intensive fight - Love the different armies : fire, water, nature, wind (kind of) - Units have all abilities (it seems didn't check them all for now) Cons : - Absolutely no base management, a War3 kind of management would have suited me. - Not a big fan of titans (on top of that they absolutely like a mini-diablo with a flower at the end of their tail) I don't like non-manageable unit - I hope you can build armies of different units, i guess you can but in this trailer, it seems that they always fight with one unit or lots of basics ones + a big one - I would had like more flashy colors

As much as I like watching and being terrible at old BW, attempting to fill the void in the market is a sure way to go out of business. When people say RTS for noobs, what that really means is that it isn’t designed for the ever shrinking RTS market.

BW is still largely popular in korea, which i'm sure you already know.. people just refuse to build on the success of difficult competitive rts because they haven't found a way to properly monetize it imo.. it's weird because i think fighting games are the successor to sc1 atm, they're the most similar in mechanics

No strategy, this is just Warcraft 3 meets LoL stealing Dota artwork. Obviously will have to see how people enjoy it, that's what really matters. But this isn't an RTS. I don't want this. Base building and economic management are what make RTS games what they are. @Atimo, are you using firefox? try chrome to see it at a higher resolution

The other issues arise that the RTS fans are very specific in what they consider to be “good RTS design” which often runs counter to what makes the game more marketable to a larger audience. Or lead to any innovation in RTS games. Finally, the truth of RTS games is that most vast majority of players do not play the multiplayer. There are a few people development RTS games, like Relic. But they are banking on the 40K license and a robust single player to sell their title. In the very tiny world of TL, BW seems very popular and a no brainer for any studio. But selling that to a publisher to make a brand new RTS game in the spirit of this cult classic in Korea when Overwatch is ripping up the charts over there is a different story. edit: see all the people saying "base building and micro management are what make RTS games" and you will see the issues developers face.

So basic units are cheap and spammable. Also I think you will like some of the more detailed gameplay reveals that are still under NDA.

I feel like if done well this can totally work, yes it feels different but that's exactly the point in the first place.

I just talked to some of the devs before - all these things are still under NDA. We can just talk about whats on the trailer/website. There is definitely more to be revealed than what the trailer shows.

Can't wait to test it I agree with The_Red_Viper, collecting ressources from neutral unit can be cool and dynamic

AFAIK you can build three different unit types each game. If i do this through building a rax (base building) or another method isn't really all that relevant imo. I also disagree that workers mining is (as in starcraft) is the only form of economy management. In the trailer they already talk about the general economy concept, i think managing that is also "economy management"
