And if so would that be allowed? Eric from Artillery here - yep, the NDA allows players to give non-specific reactions whether good or bad. Images/Video/Descriptions of specifics are what we want to avoid. Here's the reminder blurb that we send out in our emails explaining the NDA intent: Show nested quote +NDA: Please do NOT post images, videos, written descriptions, etc. about Atlas publicly. Many of the experimental ideas presented in Atlas Test Weekends won't make the final cut, so public exposure would cause more confusion and misunderstanding than constructive discussion. We’re working really hard to make a fun game so thanks in advance for your help <3
Neat that you guys are posting on teamliquid!
Question: As the creator of this thread, can I get an invite? T_T
Question 2: When is the game going to be released??
Question 3: Please don't forget 1v1. q_q

Well since the NDA allows for non-specific reactions: Good.

I'm pretty jealous that I didn't get a key.
Quick, can you describe an RTS title which comes the closest to what you've played? That's non specific.

Remember when Dota was initially succesful as it was an easier version of WC3 where you didn't have to work on multiple different control groups, but it instead allowed you to focus on 1 hero (mostly) + playing a teamgame.
Atlas feels like a different way of solving WC3's "too many different control groups/too much too manage" while still maintaining the ability to control multiple units as in WC3.
I argue that it feels like a mixture of LOL and Wc3 (so its not really comparable to Starcraft).
|
That sounds cool I guess. Not that I've ever playe WC3.
|
I guess that will help combat the horrible anxieties people feel playing traditional RTS games. Though its not clear whether there is a market for the 'in-between' genre; do people actually want a mix of LOL and WC3? Its definitely an interesting idea

I got a key yesterday. This is pretty much my reaction as well: Good.

lol? Too many control groups in wc3 really? I do not need a mix of dota and wc3...

i figure when it comes down to crunch time we'll see nothing publicly from guys like Day9 except the official promo trailers they might appear in. The game is supposed to come out in 2016 and so i thought there would be a promo trailer or two by now to warm up the fans.
|
As a daily tester I cannot give anything away except this
|
meh i tried it a while ago and it wasn't really what i was originally expecting/hoping for, maybe i'll give it another shot when a wider release comes out
|
Hmm... I wonder what that means for atlas
|
i would say Atlas has just Shrugged. I wonder if Eric Burkhart left with Day9. there never appeared to be a "crunch time" for this project during Day9s tenure.
remember all that big talk in 2013? all those editorial puff pieces lauding this incredible Atlas technology... it appears this incredible tech might be more elusive and mysterious than John Galt...

This has been in development at least for 4 years... ded gaem?

Technically called vaporware. Google it if you don't believe me.

I've heard of that and why wouldn't i believe you? Isn't vaporware normally some sort of kickstarter / moneysink stuff? Was a huge story not long ago about no mans sky or star citizen. Dunno
The only reason I'm sceptical is you haven't heard things of this game (partly cause of the NDA) for a very long time and now the face of the game is leaving? Sounds to me like the beginning of the end tbh
