It's probably from the combination of the fast animations, flashy screens, the in game commentator and the Evo commentary. This is definitely visually overwhelming like umvc3 at times. I think the announcer's sound needs to vary instead of just that nostalgic voice.

In japan there's a VF 5v5 tournament annually that draws like 120+ teams. There was also the Sega Cup in America earlier this year, which was a great Virtua Fighter event. Thanks. I had no idea the competitive scene in US is weak.

UFGT has something like that. Mystery Tournament. Every round is a different, usually shitty fighting game.

Opener (special or sometimes normal move) -> "auto-double"? (a normal move, each opener has two auto-double options i think, like jumping FP might auto-double by executing a standing WP or MK upon landing) -> linker -> another auto-double -> finisher The auto-double was a one-button press gives you 2 combo hits kinda deal, I think that's why they called it auto double. You also have a combo breaker, which is one of your special moves. With there being two options for the auto-double, you use your designated combo breaker at the right time to interrupt his combo by guessing which of his two options he used.

That's why it seems like they are doing no damage. More combo breakers, the more health it seemed like people had.
