Absolutely shocked that we don't have a thread for this game yet!

Ok so to the detail

Tom Clancy's The Division is an upcoming multiplayer online third-person tactical shooter action role-playing video game developed by Ubisoft Massive under the Tom Clancy brand for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It was announced during Ubisoft's E3 2013 press conference, together with a seven minute gameplay demo.

Game Factsheet:

Stolen from here

A devastating pandemic sweeps through New York City, and one by one, basic services fail. In only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos. The Division, a classified unit of self-supported tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives among us, Division agents are trained to operate independently in order to save society. When society falls, your mission begins.

Key features:

Total breakdown

We live in a fragile and complex world, a web of interdependent systems we rely on every day. When one fails, others follow, creating a deadly domino effect that can cripple society in just days. In Tom Clancy’s The Division™, immerse yourself in a frighteningly chaotic and devastated New York City, where society is failing. As a Division agent, your mission is to restore order, team up with other agents and take back New York.

Clancy Redefined

Welcome to an online, open-world, Action RPG experience where exploration and player-progression are essential. Use your skills, weapons and wits in combat. Play in a persistent and dynamic environment that combines the Tom Clancy™ series’ core authenticity and tactical decisions, RPG action, trading and much more.

Seamless Massive Multiplayer

Seamlessly team up with friends and use your combined skills to fight the crisis, investigate the sources of the virus and engage all threats, even your own citizens. Improve your gear with player-to-player trading, and fight through a city where danger can come from anywhere and anyone at any moment.

Gear Up

As part of The Division, harness state-of-the-art technology: both networked and prototyped. Loot fallen foes and craft new, improved gear. Completely customize your go-bag, an agent’s only supplies in the event of collapse, and communicate with the other agents at all times with your smart watch. Customize your agent with thousands of weapon types, skill combinations, gear and much more. The choices you make will help forge a recovery or plunge the city deeper into chaos.

Revolutionary companion gaming

On your smart phone or tablet, join your friends in real-time gameplay with exclusive characters. The app gives you a bird’s eye view of the battlefield, the ability to aid your allies in combat by attacking enemies or identifing targets and raining destruction down on your enemies.

I love this mentality. I wish more people like us who are PC gamers first and foremost would actually start boycotting games which don't support PC rather than caving and buying consoles just to play a few exclusives.

This looks amazing, small details like the way he closes the police car door at 3:30 in the gameplay trailer. Need more info though, like map size, player count, etc. I'm definitely signing the petition.

Looks really cool on the trailer but still waiting to see what actual gameplay is like. I'll also wait for a PC version, if it ever comes (might have to upgrade my graphic card though)

There is a good chance it will come out for PC. The official Twitter page said that they are focusing on next gen consoles first, but they are not ruling out other platforms.

Never been a fan of 3rd person shooters on PC for some reason. FPS for PC all day long but 3rd always felt weird to me. If they put it on PC that's cool, if not no biggie. PS4 isn't a launch day Item for me but I definitely need one by the time this comes out. It's the game I'm most amped for after E3. I have a feeling playing this with some of my friends is going to be super aggravating lol.

Ubisoft always has the sickest UIs. The street names floating there and stuff makes it look so dope. Loved Splinter Cell: Conviction's use of them putting objectives or memory sequences on buildings and the environment around you. Super fucking pumped for this game.

Man this game blew my mind when it was revealed at this year's E3. I'll be picking it up day one hopefully on PC but if there's no day 1 PC release it'll be on console--looks too good to wait!

Me and my buddies already got a squad for it, I'm really hoping they don't mess up little things, it looks too good to be true
Im pretty excited for this. I've always wanted a game like this since Day Z, L4D, War Z, a game where it takes all that and puts it so tactical and makes it like how we would in real life.

Oh wow, the game factsheet you just added makes me want to play this even more. I might actually have to get a PS4 if it doesn't come out on PC. I like the fact that this doesn't include zombies or anything similar too.

i feel a bit reserved at this point. Maybe it's just that games like this have had similar promise and failed to deliver too many times. my biggest fear is how they make the world actually feel real, or will it feel like every other mmo where you patiently wait for an area to respawn so you can do the quest there. Hopefully it will have some clever use of instancing on a scale larger then just say, one set "raid" area, in order not to flood the world with players which would ruin the whole idea of a small "elite" team of agents. I mean, if there are more "agents" then npcs on at any given time the whole idea fails apart themeaticly. Also the story behind the setting seems very interesting, but it is also extremely hard to tell these types of stories in a mmo enviroment. I almost find myself wishing this to be a sort of "dark souls" multiplayer experiance, one where you can meet other players but the meat of the game will be a single player one. That being said, if they manage to make this as good as their highly scripted gameplay trailer it will be amazing. But i for one have lost faith in publishers who try to bite off something as big as this until one of them proves me wrong.

I think the MMO idea might be a bit of a misnomer. I could be wrong but I don't think you should expect standard MMO or Planetside 2 amounts of players on a given server. They have to balance between making it an immersive world and not making it a total clusterfuck with people everywhere. I'd expect it to be "massive" in so far as there's probably ~100-200 people on the map at any given time. So, its more "massive" than your standard shooter but I don't think there's any way you're fitting ~5000 people on a single server and not making the game a catastrophe.

Judging from the map at the end of the gameplay trailer, I think each zone will allow up to 64 players in each zone. 32 players from both major factions.

I don't recall Ubisoft referring to any of their upcoming psuedo-MMOs (The Crew, this game, another one I missed) as actual MMOs, so I didn't expect massive player counts on each server in the first place.

We'll see. Seems a bit like GRFS, with a bit more original GR series with Christian Allen style maps, but still includes some cheesy COD/GOW style gameplay, but if the grab cover feature is the only thing then it should be alright. Depends on how they do MP though for me. I hate the queue search for MP vs the old style rooms hosted which was great back in the Christian Allen days. Though I am thinking this game won't live up to what I want it to be. In my opinion Ubisoft is like Blizzard in both companies are looking to capitalize on their own namesake, but have no idea how to make a good game anymore.

Well The Division coming out on PC is certainly good news, I would probably get it on that platform rather than my PS4, especially if the multiplayer is not cross-platform. I have many more potential teammates with a positive IQ on Steam/Origin than I would expect to find on PSN.

Anybody else amped for this? The game looks sick.

Way to misunderstand me. I already have those friends on PC, while I don't on PSN. I'd rather roll with the network I have rather than try to find a new one on a completely new platform, although I plan on purchasing a PS4 anyways.

And don't pretend like that stereotype doesn't exist for a reason. Online multiplayer on consoles, unless you are playing with friends, is a cesspool compared to online multiplayer on PC, and that bar is set very low to begin with.

It's not that hard to understand. People come to this forum primarily for the SC/DotA community. Those are two games that are exclusive to PC because they wouldn't work on a console. For a lot of people, SC/DotA is the only game they play.

Also, consoles are expensive, and require a TV to play them. If you live at home, or with a roommate, it can be easier and/or cheaper to play games on your computer rather than in the living room.

I'm skeptical of these games, they never work out the way its proposed. A lot of failed blockbusters of this type.

New video showing new gameplay footage just got uploaded. Possibly better graphics than Crysis 3?

Ubi got a considerable track record now of doing this, quite disappointing (especially from a PC perspective).

I thought Far cry 3 looked nice.

Its all about marketing though i guess. Its such a short term view taken by these companies. I guess gamer trust is a small issue for them.
I think alot of this has to do with the rise of digital downloads and buying games online. Its so easy as a gamer to buy every hyped game as soon as it comes out, but now i'm having to force myself not too, after a year of really disappointing releases. Rome 2 and Watch Dogs have been the biggest disappointments recently for me.
I don't know about other guys on here, but i have probably spent £300-400 on games this year, and frankly, there are quite a few in there that i played for a few hours and then decided that they were shit. Watch dogs is among them.
I think there will come a time where as PC gamers, we will have to just say enough is enough. It will take alot of self control though, as i would wager there are many out there who, like me, spend inordinate amounts of cash on games we know fairly little about. Its so easy to buy into the hype, especially when you feel like part of the scene, and the hype is everywhere.

Here is a real illustration of the problem, shown in Rome 2:

http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/79670-Pre-Alpha-Siege-of-Carthage-vs-Release-Siege-of-Carthage

Its a shame to have to be so cynical. I really enjoy many Ubisoft games, they often have incredibly fun gameplay, but they are usually tarnished with this same old bullshit. Why can't they just practice honest (at least reasonably honest) marketing, and everyone will hate them less.

So they're gimping shit because console folks will be butthurt a PC is more powerful than their console? Isn't that like, common knowledge? When you buy a console you're just getting a PC with less power and less customization but more ease of use. Kind of comes with the territory.

I've still got a hard on for this game. Disappointing news if true. I'll keep following as it gets closer to launch but as it stands there's no way I'm not getting it day 1 because the nerd boner is too strong atm.

Welcome to the future of gaming.
Sadly this shit is the norm nowadays.
Got to gimp those pc releases because consoles exist despite the next gen already being worst then a several year old desktop.

It's really amazing how PC gamers are so easily 'butthurt' (for lack of a better word) about graphics being not the same as those shown in promotional material. Promotional material does not constitute a promise; on the contrary, as any marketing trick it is often a lie. Besides, aren't people supposed to play games for the gameplay of it all? Graphics are fun, but I know very few people who keep playing a bad game just because the graphics are really good.

Look at Crysis 3. Best video game graphics since Crysis 1 but very subpar gameplay. The game was in bargain bins barely two months after launch.

It's more annoying that there is all this potential to have a graphically amazing game and fun gameplay, but they will gimp the graphics a lot due to gameplay.

You obviously wouldn't understand it,but for people who invest in a good computer it can be disappointing when they can easily have the better graphics on PC but lower it due to fear of console people being butthurt about it.

butthurt is the ultimate troll word. You could just as easily say upset or annoyed lol

On the matter at hand, i agree with Blade. Its so annoying spending 2 grand on an amazing machine just for devs to waste all of that potential by deliberately downgrading a game to make consoles look on par.
I'm not trying to wind up console users, but everyone knows how much better PCs are, so really what's the point of it in the first place?

Well it's not so much being "butthurt" about worse graphics than feeling duped. In the case of Watch Dogs for example, which overall still is a good game from what I can tell, not only did you not get what was shown live on a friggin stage and called actual gameplay footage. Performance was also terrible on absolute high-end systems where you would not think it possible. That's just unacceptable.

I just hope with The Division they won't make the same mistakes twice. Give console gamers a good experience and for PC gamers with the right equipment a little extra.

You could turn that argument on its head: everyone knows developers have to maximize efficiency and still target the biggest user base they can, making the same game for PC and consoles, so really what's the point of buying a 2k$ rig in the first place?

Not that I'm not as disappointed as you guys, mind you, but still, it seems understandable to me that they always end up doing that. And even for games that are prettier on PC, by devs that seemingly put some effort into graphics quality scaling with hardware (like The Witcher?), oftentimes the extra work amounts to adding fancy Nvidia effects and some extra lighting or shadows here and there.

I'm really interested about The Division. But I'll wait for beta reviews or even release before jumping the gun. For now it seems like there is not quite enough variety in environments and things to do for me to pay full price. Also, it seems like coop is a big aspect, and my friends aren't really into games like that so I would end up having to look for Division pals or play alone :D.

Well.. After playing for around 4 hours (not that much to do) in the beta, i have to say it's enjoyable. It reminded me a bit of Hellgate London, somehow.

That's the good news. The bad news is, half the game will be completely unplayable. As in, i won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Dark Zone. In theory amazing, but ubisoft pulled yet again a ubisoft on that one. In beta, it's peppered with cheaters. Actual cheaters, not like "oh how did he hit me from over there", but invisible and invincible, speedhacking cheaters with unlimited ammo. With video proof, from someone who did it.

How? Easy. Apparently, things like ammo, health, position etc are done client side, then sent to the server which doesn't check those values. You literally can cheat millions of credits in via a hexeditor.

Looking at how plagued rainbow six siege is by cheaters, and how useless "fairfight" is.. Sadly, gonna pass. Even though the PvE part was actually really fun with friends.

I don't think hacking will be an issue, most of them should get banned pretty quick

It's pretty clear that you own neither rainbow six siege or the crew. You might want to check the forums, or reddit. These games are out for a while (the crew is anyway) - both of which are peppered with cheaters. And ubi doesn't do anything, because they can't. On what base are they gonna ban? Their anti-cheat/cheat detection is pretty much a joke, detecting nothing. Read opinions of hackers regarding "Fairfight" (their "VAC").

Hacking isn't an issue, if you accept ubisofts answer that there is no hacks. In fact, that's what they're already saying in regards to Division (they call it "glitches", even though there's bulletproof video evidence of someone editing his ammo, so he has a LMG clip of around 11000 bullets).

All you get is this answer:

We are well aware of the importance of having a proper anti-cheat solution in place, but do not have details to reveal about the system at the moment.

That's literally a copy/paste of the answer concerned people got before R6 Siege was released, and look how that ended. Above gold, there's cheaters in every single match.

The only way to get the game remotely cheatproof is rewriting the entire netcode (that was converted from console btw, hence everything client-side - on consoles you can't just fiddle with it due to restrictive OS), so stuff gets done server side, not client side.

Or perhaps other developers could do what CDPR does and release separate versions for the console and PC? Console version with downgraded graphics and console-friendly UI (ensuring good performance and ease-of-use) while PC version with full graphics and PC-friendly UI. The thing I hate the most in all multi-platform games is not actually the graphics but console UI on a PC. It's atrocious.

I'd agree, but the UI in division isn't all that bad. I hated skyrims guts for the original UI though.

So far, the only real gripe i have is the out-of-hand-cheating. It's not like "you meet a blatant cheater once a week" or so like in DayZ, i couldn't do a single DZ yesterday. The 8-8 zone always had at least a couple of invisible groups.

I cancelled my pre-order, i'm gonna wait a couple of weeks to see if they got the cheating under control. Because that's a dealbreaker for me, not gonna fall for the same shit as i did with R6.

I played 2 days and I actually love the UI or how the game is controlled(PC version, keyboard + mouse). Not a single problem with it, I find it pretty good.

I haven't met any cheater but then again, I didn't make the 8th. I am missing around 1k exp points and I don't know where to get them, since I don't like running in the city finding secrets

Also, I played the game on High settings and it looks gorgeous! It is downgraded from the videos, but it is still cool. Snowstorm or fog looks really fantastic and you cannot tell what's few meters before you. Fog in Dark Zone raised my heartbeat to very high levels(I was soloing the DZ which is pretty much adrenaline activity by itself).

1-7 was fine for me too, mostly because i went there rather early i suppose.

I did the story mission a couple of times on hard difficulty, boss at the end drops blue most of the time so i was farming there.

One thing that irritates me though: the game, for some reason, has 100% utilization of all cpu cores. All the time, doesn't matter where you look. I'm running 4x4.6gh, while it looks good, it shouldn't go that high to the point where i'm starting to get thermal issues.

I just found out that the mission can be done on Hard via some random YT video. I'll do that then Somehow missed the difficulty changing thing(looked grayed to me(disabled for beta))

I haven't had any problem with temperature, but I'll check what it's taking, running it on i5-3570 (3,4 GHz), 16 GB DDR3(1333) and GTX970(some Gainward OC silent model)

Yeah, would be good to see. GPU temps are fine (980ti), but CPU, as i said, i5 2500k 4.6ghz oc with watercooling goes up to 68 degrees celsius, and has a constant 100% utilization. Never drops (checked via CPUID HWMonitor). Everything cranked up, graphically.

And yeah, the hard mission wasn't easy to spot, my girlfriend pointed it out to me. Isn't the beta supposed to end today though?

Over the last few days, we’ve seen an incredible amount of excitement for the game, leading to many of you registering on the waitlist for a chance to join our Closed Beta. We’ve been working very hard to let as many players as possible join, while still maintaining a smooth experience for everyone.
Earlier today, we announced that we were now inviting as many players as possible from the waitlist, in addition to those who had guaranteed pre-order access. We’ve started sending invites, with priority given to those who signed up first.
In order to allow everyone who has access to fully enjoy the Beta, we’re happy to announce we’re extending the duration by 24h for all players. As a result servers will remain open until Tuesday, February 2nd, 12pm CET | 6 am EST | 3 am PST.
Thank you all for your amazing support!

Ah well, missed that. Doesn't really matter to me though, DZ is unplayable and after running the mission for like 30 times or something, i kinda am bored of that too. :D

Have to play through Xcom anyway, Xcom2 this week weeee!

Well, I try the mission on hard and that§s end the game for me. I have now Tomb Raider(the new one) and waiting for XCOM 2. In the mean time some guild runs in SW:TOR(the last expansion caught me unprepared and I actually like it)

[...]
I'm not trying to wind up console users, but everyone knows how much better PCs are, so really what's the point of it in the first place?

Yeah it is . I guess they don't think it's worth the extra work.
I thankfully did not pre-order the Division. From my own experience on video games sharing code with consoles (NBA 2K16), the devs do not go to extra length to get rid of hackers on PC, so they stay there and multiply till the game is competitively dead.
I hope for you Division PC owners that they will do something, but it's not looking too good, apparently.

If anything, i might get it for PS4.

I just know already that i'm gonna hate it, as i hated every single shooter i've ever played on console. Including Destiny and Halo. I just can NOT get around shooting with a pad.

Didn't apply, watched a fair amount on stream, wasn't impressed. It seems like Mass Effect + Borderlands to me. What I hear about the Darklands systems seems interesting but the gameplay looked atrocious. Time to kill is entirely too high for the style of shooter that it is. Not gonna bother with it.

While I get that they go for a RPG style of time to kill, they also seem to strive for weapon realism. All guns are supposed to feel real, have the right recoil/bullet spray/visuals/sound and shit. They probably don't feel that real when you have to shoot a NPC 10 times in the head to kill it :D.

You can oneshot people.

That's as little time to kill as it gets. A shooter where "gear" is the measurement of how fast you kill someone doesn't really allow for arguments like "too fast" or "too slow".

It depends on how you gear. Go full damage, and watch people drop faster than two rounds in the head. Same goes for you in that case.
edit: apart from yellow pve enemies, which take 3-4 shots with a 6k dps m44 (players have between 2000hp on blergh-gear and 5000hp on amazing gear).

Honestly, on all the streams I was watching, it was at least 3 headshots for a kill on a player of the same level with a marksman rifle, and more for NPCs of a similar level. The fact that it IS an RPG that really doesn't look like an RPG hurts it a lot IMO. The gameplay feels more like Mass Effect with more fluid movement and no abilities* than it does any other Tom Clancy shooter. Add stuff like random critical strikes and it becomes bullshit.

*There are abilities, but nothing like Warp/Singularity combo or Impact Shot.

I wish they added more hidden places or the ability to climb on higher roofs and a more exploration-oriented play-style. My favorite aspect of rpg games was the exploration and discovery of new territories. From what I've seen in the beta, it was lacking places to visit.

the game might not be good, but ohhhh man some of the snow/weather effects are so pretty and atmospheric. i would kill for a good game with the division's weather effects/destroyed manhattan... imagine dayz mechanics with this weather/locale as well as a day night cycle...

Gamesplanet has it for 30% off.

Played around a bit, very miffed that they still didn't fix exploits and cheats. As one of the few people who enjoyed Hellgate: London, i do enjoy the PvE part. As a DayZ player, i WOULD enjoy the DZ part, if it were less frequented by exploiters, cheaters and other lowlifes.

Pretty much yeah. Without demo's (open betas are just demo's really) people buy more games they would otherwise not have bought.

Tried the open beta with a friend, I wouldn't say the game is terrible but it's certainly nothing new or amazing as per usual from ubisoft.

I'l probably buy the eventual "GOTY" edition from sales and co-op through most of the content till it gets boring.

... So did anyone buy this game and can write a few words about it? I'm kinda interested in playing it but from what I've seen so far it seems pretty run of the mill in almost every aspect. Plus there seems to be a lack of variety... Whenever I tuned into a stream/watched a VOD there were the same things going on. Running to a cover, kill a couple bullet-sponges repeat.

I got it on PC and pre loaded it on Sunday. However my mates who were pre loading last night said there download stopped with 3GB to go, so i guess that ties in with the server issues.

Im getting this game cuz i like the PvE side of the game, you and 3 friends just beating content that way. Hoping this keeps me entertained for a good spread as i got the gold edition.

I didn't play the PvP side in the beta as it seems you can only go into that as 1 player right, then you have to "meet up" with friends who can also kill u at any time right? xD

PC, i played it for about 2 hours after release then went to bed, so i missed the server outage. i played for an hour this morning before work, so no real server issues so far for me. i hardly think server issues at release is surprising.

I have no interest in the game, simply because I have literally 0 gamer friends left.

The Division looks like a blast for groups but a pure chore for solo players.

I played the beta, and though you are right that it is a blast playing in groups, it is definitely a thrill to set up a group with random strangers never knowing if they will shoot you in the back at any moment in the DZ

From what i understand, the closed/open Betas did NOT have any form on Anti-Cheat enabled, but Ubi said there sure as hell will have Anti-Cheat in the final product. I have not read anything to suggest that cheating is a thing right now, so i think you're good to go.

At the end of the day, yes, the game can be summed up by 'run to cover, put a mag or two into a bullet sponge, repeat', but it the process just felt fun to me despite being indeed fairly monotonous. The fact that stuff has large amounts of hp brings a significant amount of strategy into the mix - suppression, crowd control and repositioning is far more 'visible' even to very mediocre shooter players and you can't expect to just run and gun stuff especially on harder difficulties.

It's important to realize that it's not entirely a TPS game, it's more of a modern day Diablo set in third person perspective. Being able to aim is obviously important, but stuff like gear and ability builds and usage is what gives the game its flavor.

That pretty much describes Destiny, but 3rd person. It’s a loot game with guns in a setting that can’t justify shields or magical armor. It will appeal to people who like those games. I enjoyed Destiny quite a bit, so I might give this a spin after I am done with Dying Light.

ok dark zone is really fucking fun, holy shit, even as a solo player. i was duoing with someone and we worked together with another randomer. then my friend left and i decided to solo it too. between hunting down rogue agents and tensely sitting waiting for extraction with four other ppl who are in a squad together, it's pretty good stuff

Was doing PvE with my friends last night, got to level 9 after one of our group took like 45 minutes to get "activated" due to the bug. Then sailed through, was good fun no issues for any of us after that activation failing. Lots of potential here, can't play now until Friday but i want to get most of it done then get online asap as its different levels/gear on there.

I can play it on my laptop, but that's a hassle.

Is there a list of TL players? I don't have any friends interested in this game... (yet, I hope I will persuade them)

I guess if you are willing to play with people on TL i can make a list for people, also the PvP is pretty much solo player and then u make squad as big as u want so we can get that organized too if people interested.

I have it on pc and i am "pandamow" on UPLAY.

Oh you couldn't in beta, or we couldn't queue as a 4 as we tried? So i assumed you joined dark zone as a 1 then met up with people and its all open voice etc? But if you can join Dark Zone already in your party of 4 then ok :D

yeah i just entered dark zone already part of a group, then the rest of my group joined me. we were properly in a group so we couldnt friendly fire each other either. dont u remember that dark zone gameplay teaser where the guy leaves his group at extraction and betrays them

but yeah it's open voices, theres no group voip, unless u use third party like teamspeak

Yeah, that§s actually stupid. I want to be in a group but with FF one. I had so much fun time with random coop in DZ during beta Hey, you shoot me in a back! I didn't mean it, honestly! I will be paying atte.... ooh, sorry again :D

i think it's quite hard to accidentally go rogue with the changes they made

altho my friend still managed to do it, luckily it was only a 20s timer

Too bad only groups of 4 are allowed in DZ. I would totally be up for DZ gank...

My first attempt in the dark zone escalated fairly quickly.
The M44 carbine already caught my attention in the beta and it`s the same op weapon in the final version as it seems... not sure if it`s rly op, but it feels like it.
And i`m still playing with pad on pc. Movement is just so much more fluent that i don`t care if m+k users have an advantage right from the start.
Still, it`s very early and things can change. So i`m not sure where this journey is going and if i keep playing with pad.

Personally, i'd go with an M1. That feels close to op, especially the Socom M1 (+grip modifier over the Classic one). SMGs are very strong generally, too, with the yellow Vector 45 pretty much being the stronkest craftable weapon that i've seen so far.

It's fun. Solo DZ is pretty much one of the most nerve wrecking activities i have done in a long time. And i come from DayZ.

Yeah the M1 is ridiculously strong, it's basically an autoshotgun at close range and a very good sniper weapon at long range. Don't like the spread on Vector 45 much; running a Midas (the uzi look-alike yellow) with a bunch of crit dmg and crit chance modifiers and shit's ridiculous. I'm up to 110k hp now but still manage 125k dps with the Midas -- oh and it's got a pimpin' glowing gold skin too!

Picked up an ACR last night to improve my damage, im only level 10. Liking that gun due to low recoil, going to try some more hard missions tonight with my group. However we have done "hardly" any missions and we are 32% done with the content according to stats thing they show. Guess the PvE side is going to rely alot on dlc which is fine.

Yes it is.

And Pandemona, the story is rather short, but if you played Hellgate: London, you know how it works. It's an MMO(ish) game, maxlevel = daily, weekly and monthly missions, farm gear, DZ.

Yeah that's how i described it too as an mmo due to how u can get the gear. Like you pretty much always have missions to do right even if you complete the main missions/story? As the side missions seem to be activated all the time as i would assume daily changing the rewards.

I going to try get main story completed this weekend. It makes me said i didn't play destiny though as i think i would have liked that oh well

Well, side missions i can't really tell, i think once you done them, they're done (same with encounters?).

After you get level 30, you unlock a new difficulty (Challenge Mode), and from there it's pretty much farming the main story missions on all kinds of difficulty, which also are dailies (Daily = a certain mission on hard) which rewards you phoenix credits - which you can buy blueprints for in the DZ and BoO (once the special vendor is unlocked).

Makes me wonder if the DLC's that are being developed will be for Multiplayer or Single Player in focus with more content in them?

I'd argue that there is no real "singleplayer". Or real "multiplayer" apart from the DZ.

Pretty much any mission in the game is, by definition, single player. Same will go for the DLC. It's just they're like ten times more fun in coop.

Don't like the spread on Vector 45 much; running a Midas (the uzi look-alike yellow) with a bunch of crit dmg and crit chance modifiers and shit's ridiculous.

That might be also based on the fact that the Midas is the most idiotic weapon ever been put in a online game. A weapon that can reduce signature skills (15 minute cooldowns) to pretty much permanent-active is just dumb. Summit1g just had a groupfight in DZ with the enemy group using three Midas. It wasn't even a fight, just really, really dumb.

Not blaming you for using it, though, i might too if i had one.

Thankfully, it's already confirmed that it will be hotfixed, and the talent will be removed/replaced.

I only caught up to the ridiculous signature skill reduction talent last night haha, I mean even without that I like the gun, much more so than the vector.

I think you will run into problems with the end game as a solo players. Dark zone solo is asking to get killed by rogues while trying to extract and you need people to do pve endgame with Challenge difficulty and Incursions (whatever they will be).

It is what has held me off from getting the game actually. None of my friends play it and without the endgame I don't consider it worth the money.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Except no one is pvp-ing in high lvl DZ, because it's the dumbest thing one could do in the game.

Sidenote: 37 hours played, just finished the main missions + side missions. Guess it comes down to what you expect for money, i don't really share the "i need 200 hours playtime for 15 bucks, otherwise not worth" opinion. If that's your thing, that's fine though.

Even while rushing and ignoring everything, it takes 14 hours to get to lvl 30 (first 30 14 hours after release). And he didn't touch any of the side stuff.

That being said, the game is so much more fun in coop, and the matchmaker seems to do decent. As long as you're not completely anti-social, you decide to play alone, rather than being forced to.

Right now people are gathering gear and levels. I expect the DZ to turn full on rogue pvp in like a week

As for value its far from "200h for 15 bucks". The game is 60 and without DZ and group pve content your getting far less then 1/h and that is not worth it for me. But of course this is something highly individual.

"Matchmaking is decent". Ofcourse its decent, it needs to throw 4 random people together. Its not an A vs B where it needs to match opposing skills.

1/h.. Yeah. Anyway.

Has nothing to do with gear and levels. At all. I'd urge you to actually read up on things before you state stuff that has no base in reality.

People don't PvP in high level DZ, because the reward/punishment system for rogues is idiotic.

Small example? If you survive a manhunt (visible on the entire map, for 600 seconds), which starts when you've killed 5 people (and that's inevitable when you go rogue, since you're defending yourself against non-rogues), you get 1600 DZ credits. Players who kill you get immense amounts of xp/credits, so they will hunt you.

If you die while being rogue, you lose around 90.000 to 120.000 credits, and on top of that, you lose DZ levels (edit: and obviously all the gear you looted from the people you've killed). Summit1g yesterday lost 2,5 levels (that's 3-5 hours of grind in the DZ as a sidenote).

Maybe you understand now why nobody is going rogue. You lose regardless. Going rogue is ALWAYS a loss.

60 bucks and less then 60 hours of content outside of group pve and dz. The math is not hard.

And yes right now no one wants to pvp in the DZ because everyone wants gear. But what about in a week when people have their loot. When there is no real need for credits or buying more DZ loot? Players either log off and don't come back until another update comes out or they go pvp, because there is nothing important to lose (they have all the gear already).

Regarding not having friends - it is actually very, very easy to find groups and reasonable people to play with. The matchmaker is okay, the in game voice chat is decent and makes things more social too, and reddit / other forums are decent resources to find people who meet more 'specific' requirements, too. I've gone into the game solo but spent 80% of my playtime in a group, the other 20% down to me not WANTING a group rather than being unable to put one together.

The biggest issue with the game atm is how the economy is balanced; a lot of the resources are virtually useless so gameplay can get a little weird at times. For example, dark zone credits are basically meaningless despite being a major reward / risk interplay for rogues. By far the most important resource is Dark Zone experience but the moment you reach DZ rank 50, you can buy up every single reward available for it and then stop caring about it entirely. Judging by how quickly some stuff is getting patched, I assume the economy will receive a good look at it nearby future and it's not like the game isn't fun as it is, but yeah, it needs more polish in that regard for sure.

Its pretty easy to find people to play, matchmaking works really well and the groups ive been part of most of them have mics and good team work.

So I just played the first mission got a new backpack, pads, and armor. Anything I missed? Kind of sucks you can't choose between more than 8(?) hairstyles and there any glasses to choose from

So I'm assuming there is some type of build orders to follow?

No build orders afaik, play the way you want, with the talent/skill system. Either heals, turrets or tanking items.

40k hp is what many people have at level 30 because they're stupid and ignore stamina (don't be that guy). Aug is hilariously strong, think it's the best SMG and SMGs are arguably the best weapons overall atm.

I was wondering the same thing Faruko. I always mod stamina or skill power depending on which mods give more stamina/power. Skill power for me as i am based around healing talents/skills. Pulse Scanner with perk to increase its crit and then the heal box which pulse heals and perk to give ammo back.

It depends on what you're doing, really. For PVP, stamina is for sure the most important stat since cooldowns on heals are short enough so running a build heavy on stamina & armor gives you way more survivability than the numbers show as you're more likely to survive until your next heal is off cooldown. In PVE, you definitely want at least 2 people per group with reasonable firepower otherwise shit takes forever to kill, in challenge mode anyway. Both for skill builds and firepower builds talents and secondary stats are just as if not more important than the primary stat, though. You can stack quite a lot of modifiers to the skills you're using, or +dmg for your gun type, crit / headshot modifiers etc.

I just started to do challenge missions and its not to bad. I'm sitting on 50k hp and like 117k dps with my assault rifle. I've been using a bolt action sniper as my secondary. The head shots crit for about 400k with it.

players are reporting the devs stealth nerfed marksman rifle headshot bonuses, after they stated that they only did server performance tweaks and made no gameplay changes. hope this isnt true...

I really hope not those headshot crits were so satisfying and not game breaking in anyway. At least mine were not hah.

Edit: Was this after today's maintenance? or the one from the other day?

So are you saying we should focus on mods that concentrate on Stamina and Skill+?

I've read that there was a maintenance, I'm currently at work. I hope to be able to login this time around, it's been 4 days since I installed the game and filed a support ticket, to which I haven't gotten a response from any rep. I'm unable to launch the game ever since.

Hm, I am not 30 yet.
But if a headshot hits for 150k+ and you don't get more than 80k health/40%dmg reduction, you die with 1 shot in pvp no matter if you have 80k or 10k life, am I missing something here? (not that anybody would pvp)
When I got hit from SMG during beta I was in some form of a stun mode, don't know if you can outheal long enough during that so the enemy has to reload. Not convinced Stamina is worth it.

So I am now level 7 almost 8 but this Matchmaking is confusing as hell, couldn't finish the Hudson mission last night as needed to sleep and everyone left so I login today and am put in with a group that is already inside the Mission zone but the fucking gate is closed and nobody can get in expect the two players that were already inside, wtf?

Then there's matchmaking where I guess it's looking but then on the bottom right says there an invite or whatever but no matter what button I push nothing happens even the control pad

With high level gear, you should have ~55-60% damage reduction from armor, not 40%. Think there is some further -dmg modifier in pvp too although its hard to check since yeah, nobody does pvp.

there are some big bugs with the mission. when i was doing russian consulate, on the staircase area one of the guys in my party kept glitching out of the map and ending up in the safehouse. then he couldnt get back to us cuz the door was closed. the solution was for all of us to kill ourselves so we all respawn together at the checkpoint again.

and going rogue is just not worth it, especially when im trying to grind to dz 50. went rogue twice accidentally and managed to get away with it.

In the napalm mission I managed to get inside the pillar, I had to fast travel out and do the mission again.

Damn it :/ From that time I received random DC but nothing else.

Yesterday was my first bug in the last mission. I went to open a medipack inside a bathroom and i got stuck between the sink and the medipack. I shot the sink out but still couldn't get out, so i just killed myself with nades and respawned.

As said the best bet to fixing bugs is to kill yourself and force a checkpoint respawn. Or if you don't mind restarting the mission, fast travel out.

I'm not quite sure how to get Phoenix Credits since I've only played for one day. You need to be lvl 30 before you can start collecting them?

It's boring, yeah.. But on the other hand, i don't want to lose hours of grind for some shenanigans that i don't get anything out of.

The system at the moment is rather dumb, but they already announced that they rework the penalties (as in, less penalty).

Love that they won't touch shotgunners in challenge missions, the only thing next to the fatties that are threatening.

In regards to PvP armor, there must be some flat reduction somewhere - summit1g headshot-crits in PvE for around 400k+ with his M1, in PvP there's players he hits for 20k. It's weird and i haven't figured it out yet, really.

I'm not quite sure how to get Phoenix Credits since I've only played for one day. You need to be lvl 30 before you can start collecting them?

Yes. You get them through different means. Every boss gives around 2-5 Phoenix Credits on "Hard", every completed challenge mode dungeon gives you 30 (+ a HE item), with daily missions (two for "hard" difficulty and one for "challenge") giving you 20 extra + crafting mats.

You also don't really need big groups to farm, two of the challenge mode missions (lexington and tunnel) can be two-manned rather easy with decent gear (one damage dealer around 100k dps, 40k HP and one supporter with around 30k tech and as much dps as he can afford - easy to get with no HE items).

Ya as mini states, you get them at 30. For doing daily missions or daily challenge mode mission which is a mission on hard mode. Other than that u can "farm" them in the Dark Zone area killing "elite mobs" that are located on the map as points of interest or something.

Just got to level 30 last night. Debating if this game is actually worth putting any more time into with its end game content. How has everyone's post 30 experience been so far? Been pretty much soloing everything as all my friends are console players.

You won't solo challenge mode.

I enjoy the game. Then again, i'm not playing by myself, so i can't really argue there. Challenge modes are fun, even with pugs (and ya, i tried). Incursions are close to be released (you can already see it on the map), etc - nobody can decide for you "if it's worth". That's pretty much up to you.

The DZ is separate in terms of XP progression, so it certainly does not hurt to go there before you are 30. I wouldn't farm heavily for gear though because gear level has a very big impact compared to gear quality.

And yes the PvP is more open and frequent in lower brackets. On level 30 you see either 3-4 man groups that are very coordinated or you see small groups just get some loot and then escape the rogue status but it is far less frequent because people realized that farming is way faster in terms of DZXP and item progression.

Not sure what you're trying to explain to me, considering that i do understand how the game works.

I said it's not worth going DZ before hitting level 30. You said "it doesn't hurt". No it doesn't hurt, but it's a waste of time. It's only "worth" if you want to play some low level PvP before hitting 30.

You don't see PvP on level 30 (well, maybe in DZ01/02, can't tell because i "farm" DZ06). I have yet to be killed once (by players) in high level DZ zones. And people don't PvP because they realize "it's faster in terms of XP to grind", they realized that losing 2 levels (and more) is retarded for going rogue. Massive specifically announced already that they're reworking the penalty system while saying in the same sentence that they won't nerf challengemode shotgunners because of whining. Which means they acknowledge that it's retarded.

edit: deacon.frost, by chance, you work with c++?

Nope, not doing it. I got an aversion against dying, so even if it were better than just farming lexington (roughly 15 minutes), it wouldn't be fun.

I've played 100% solo so I decided to try match-making on the second last main story mission. I died right at the beginning of the final wave of bad guys, and my two teammates didn't bother reviving me, lol.

But they finished it by themselves and revived me afterwards so whatever. Ez boss I guess

Rather disappointed with the fact that the phoenix-vendors didn't reset recipes.

Which pretty much means that there's nothing to do in the game. Just hoping now that the announcement last week means that next week one of the Incursions will open ("The game may have just released but we already have a new update for you to dive into!"). Otherwise i'm pretty much done until april.

Dark Zone pvp is really fun. Since with the patterns not resetting the dark zone levels don't even really matter, the xp loss on death isn't that big of a deal. Once I decided to stop giving a damn about that useless counter, I've had a lot of really fun skirmishes / chases, and at the end of the day I actually broke even on xp since I did get quite a lot of kills and only died like twice or something.

There's a stupid abuse-ish thing where you kill the same named NPC repeatedly and suicide for him to respawn, fastest way to get Phoenix Credits & crafting materials (just google for bullet king farm to find a detailed explanation). Other than that, do the daily missions and farm one of the easier challenges (tunnel or event center) afterwards. Could also do Dark Zone but drop rates were heavily nerfed so it's less "efficient" -- probably more fun, though.

They at least announced that they gonna fix it, it actually is an exploit.

Hence why in the russian consulate, this doesn't work even though it's the same setup. We found out yesterday when it was challenge-daily, two-manned it and died to a sniper after we killed the boss - after resetting and doing it again, the boss didn't drop again. So it's actually not intended to work like that.

It works for other 'world' nameds too as far as I know, the reason people farm Bullet King is because he's closest to a respawn point and doesn't patrol around an area. Anyway pretty much everyone has been farming him for the last couple days so it's not like they will be banning people or w/e for doing it.

Nah, i don't think they'll ban people for that either. That was just me saying that i wouldn't do it, the game burns out rather fast at the moment anyway. Principle thing, i guess.

And yeah, that's what i was saying: it doesn't actually work for "normal" bosses, so the fact that it works for BK etc is dumb. Rather, that you can make them respawn when they're not intended to respawn. I'll stick with doing dailies for now, and, well.. Collecting phones n shit out of boredom. -.-

170/50k with no accuracy mods (+25ish% elite damage on top, and reckless talent on chest - no idea if that shows in there). Mask you can get in DZ06, or at least the recipe (DZ lvl 50).

All i'd need is a yellow first wave/socom M1, really.

Yeah, I haven't bothered with it myself either. There isn't that much content though so if you think you're gonna get bored of doing missions and your Phoenix Credit bank isn't that good but you want to have better gear for pvp or something, it's not a bad choice to do before they fix it, I guess.

The DPS number is very deceptive, some of the stats are incredibly overvalued (especially accuracy) while others aren't valued high enough. I'm running around with ~170k dps and 75k hp, could push my dps to like 200ish k without nerfing my hp but can't get the rolls I need so sad times

I don't really like the Bullet King thing at all. I'd rather do daily or challenge missions, although it's so worth doing right now and if you aren't doing it you will be behind a lot of people in gear. Unless you're super lucky and can craft the perfect high ends first try

Agreed.

This here actually helps.

http://www.divisiondps.com/

Accuracy is basically weighted the same as +headshot damage. No idea why, but accuracy inflates the DPS massively. That's why i stated "without accuracy", i don't really see the point of acc on a Vector anyway - you're basically sticking it into the nose of the enemies, you literally can't miss anyway.

75k HP is okay for DZ, for PvE it's way too much. Like, you could/should almost half that. (we're a two, sometimes three man group - i run with roughly 45k-50k hp depending on gearmods, even threemanning the powerplant is relatively easy, twomanning all the rest)

It's all very.. early. Some things are just plain dumb, gearwise. For example my chestpiece - reckless talent. Just flat 13% damage increase, but also 10% higher "incoming damage". It dropped with -10% elite damage. It just is flat 13% damage increase (like, the "purest" of DPS stats, like weapon damage on mag). Dunno.. Some things feel "off".

edit:

Skills are rather unbalanced too. My wife plays with caduceus, 95ish k dps, 60k hp and >40k tech, smart cover with healing and ammobox - i can basically tank shotgunners in cover while headshotting for 500k with the m1.

It feels a bit like they balanced "pi mal daumen".

I like having a higher HP pool even for pve actually, I usually move very aggressively to take out snipers, flank heavies etc and in general I tend to get most of the hate from packs which lets the rest of the group fire with more freedom, I think the extra tankiness is worth more than the extra dps I could squeeze out, at least for my playstyle. Plus I don't do much outside of PvP anymore anyway.

And yeah the balance is very wonky. It feels like Massive haven't really tested lategame stuff internally at all. Economy is really stupid, Dark Zone rewards / penalties are terrible, the way certain abilities can be stacked is dumb, certain guns are completely useless, like who in their right mind would ever even look at a Scar-H for example. Still, they seem to be patching the right things, if slowly, so I'm still pretty excited for what this game has in store.

Named NPCs will no longer respawn after being killed in the Open World. This will prevent situations where players were able to kill a same named NPC over and over again.

This solves the debate going on earlier

I feel like they touched on most of the major issues so I am happy. It just depends on how much they actually increase things like drop rates, etc.

Patchnotes are actually not bad, i like it.

Some things are still dumb, but many things i was pissed off by (no point in doing DZ06, or challenge mode for gear) might be fixed depending on how they adjusted the droprate. Going almost 40 hours without a yellow drop with 200ish scavenging is just not what i expect.

We'll see. The one thing that constantly annoys me though, they didn't fix. Why the hell, if you fast travel, do you get thrown into safe houses, but in front of your base? That small tunnel where you just walk (or vault into, then walk, in my case) is just obnoxious.

I mean, i do understand why they're doing it (if you vault, the base sometimes doesn't load fast enough - on SSD/980ti) - but there must be a better way than having me walk constantly there. -.-

Yeah, i flank rather often too. But the things that kill you in that case (shotgun-willies) will down you either way - if you get closer than 20m to a sniper, he puts it away anyway. Or you could just threetap them, that's the easiest way (they only have around 1,3mil HP). I certainly don't have a problem flanking (depending on the map at least), more important than hitpoints is to know where and what kind of enemies spawn. Which is btw something i'd love to see, randomized groups of enemies - like Lexington, i know where and what enemy spawns when, i'd rather have randomized types (instead of rikers, maybe cleaners etc). I do understand that they can't really change the "reinforcement-positions", but changing the enemy type and class would already put at least some diversity in. At least i play very different against cleaners, compared to rikers.

And yeah, things like SCAR-H, Police MK17 etc, pretty much any semi-auto marksman rifle is pointless. One can argue that a bolt action makes sense in certain situations, of which the M44 is the best - which means that there's a whole two rifles in the game usable. M1 and M44. All the other ones, regardless of talents, are worse.

Don't get me started on things like the Midas - yes, they adressed it rather quick by hotfixing/deactivating the talent, but how can a designer look at that gun and be like "damn, that looks good". Pretty much any player knew that it would be gamebreaking when he first saw it.

But. All that being said. For me personally, Division is a good game and i will continue playing it for now - but honestly, Lexington etc get stale now. The reason diablo worked was the randomized stuff. It's just going through the motions at the moment, like lexington upper floor first room. Threetap pumpgunner in the middle path, threetap the pumpgunner running towards on the left, shoot granaten-guenther through the window and let them come one by one. And it's always the same.

You can use other world bosses too. Bullet King was just the most convenient.

There's a map on reddit with the others.

Nope. Apparently it didn't. DZ Chests still drop blues. I can only assume that droprates weren't touched either.

Bullet King wasn't fixed. Fast travel to safe houses in DZ doesn't work (was announced).

And the most retarded thing of them all: there's no penalty for going rogue anymore. You don't lose anything.

Basically, nothing changed. Except that they fucked up DZ balance too now, because teams are starting to kill each other for XP since there's no backlash. And it's unplayable because everyone just shoots on sight, turned into a deathmatch arena. Well done.

What. the. fuck.

edit: they just announced on their stream that the pc-patch somehow "bricked". Hardly any changes were applied. That's something i've never heard of before. oO

Ok i was reading some stuff and find a decent reason to get another character

daily missions for each character, that means 60 or 100+ if done in hard phoenix credits a day, maybe even 90-120 if you create even more characters.

(Phoenix credits are shared)

Material farming would be another reason. You can buy/farm purples/yellows on your main character, send it to your level 6 (or 10, if you need electronics) toon, sell them on the toon, buy blue whateveryouneeds with the toon, put them back in the stash, deconstruct with main character. Voila, 6 yellow electronics for 20k credits or something.

Works decently well.

edit

We will restart all game servers at 2 PM CET | 1 PM UTC | 9 AM EDT | 6 AM PDT. Downtime: 15 minutes. No rollback of character data.

edit2: bit scarier news, but "unofficial/unconfirmed".

https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/4bhai4/hamishbode_practically_confirmed_weekly_lockouts/

Weekly lockouts would pretty much mean the end to the game for me.

Just hit Level 16 and so far I'm loving this game! Despite it's lack of variety. The only thing that really bothers me is the matchmaking. It's just frustrating when you're trying to find a group for a mission and you get matched with guys who are +/-3 levels higher (lower) than you are... not fun! Neither for them nor for me. Either I get killed with one or two rounds without dealing significant damage or my allies are too weak. So I'd like to see this mechanic gone/changed!

And another thing - don't know about PS4/PC - the matchmaking on Xone often takes some time to find players.

Edit: In case someone wants to team up on XOne sometime PN me

I did the opposite of that, where i was selling everything to make money to buy stuff that way. Then when i got to 30 i started disenchanting stuff as the 30 stuff will give better materials etc. That was my thinking behind it, however i had friends who were doing the disenchant as they go and make stuff as they levelled.

Save all the materials. Leveling is easy enough and money is useless; you use the same materials as levels go up (except greens you have to convert to blues and blues you eventually convert to yellows, but yellow materials are insanely rare and the blue > yellow conversion is the main source of 'em)

Single player - fun ? rewarding enough ? or i must play in a group.
GFX - i have a good computer with a mediocre/bad GFX card (5870) , do you think it will run OK ? i am holding up on the upgrade until the new dx12 cards come out in few months but i really want to give the game a go...

I use a GTX 770 at the moment and can play around medium/high but i like to watch streams whilst i play so i am struggling a tiny bit cuz my GPU is old. I have just bought a 970 now though and will be putting that in tomorrow.

I trying to find the Nvidia equivalent to the 5870 but if it is less than the 770 then you will struggle like i did above medium/high if you are multi monitoring or don't have an overpowering CPU to help at least. I run an i5 2500k sandy bridge.

I sold blue weapons and dismantled everything else. But regular money seems pretty worthless at 30 so I'd say dismantle everything.

^ I definitely wouldn't have made the purchase for single-player only. There isn't any real story going on, it's probably borderline impossible to solo some of the harder challenge missions and it's a good idea to have a buddy in dark zone too. And while leveling many of the side quests get repetitive and become a chore where having a buddy with you makes it more fun and allows you to get through them quicker too. Plus the game just plays better with a group, like you can have one guy drawing the fire and making space for team to get things done, you can get ressed if you die and so on.

Now I have not played missions solo but I'm not sure how you're meant to get things like sniping done with 5 NPC's spraying bullets at your face.

A) Single player its decent to run around and do some small missions, i do the big ones with a group, much more fun. But dont worry too much, the matchmaking its pretty good and most people work together

B) a 5870 might be a little too old, but if you lock it to 30fps and medium/low i can see it working for you quite decent.

C) the game its pretty fun overall, i like the loot system and theres a deep and interesting rpg system beneath all too

It does has some flaws, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts

i deconstructed everything as i was levelling cuz they're worth nothing. only started selling when i was getting lots of purples from dz at lvl 30

i wouldnt craft anything until u get to lvl 30. any gear shortcomings u can make up for by just buying from vendors. first item i crafted was a purple LVOA-C, then i focused all my material on crafting high ends like the vector and extended mag

Single player - fun ? rewarding enough ? or i must play in a group.
GFX - i have a good computer with a mediocre/bad GFX card (5870) , do you think it will run OK ? i am holding up on the upgrade until the new dx12 cards come out in few months but i really want to give the game a go...

It'd get stale pretty fast if you play solo all the time, I think. Seems easy to find groups / new friends in this game though. None of my friends bought this game but I found some pretty chill people to group with while leveling / doing missions and stuff.

Holy crap this game's boring. Endless repetition (missions, scenery, enemies...) with the only reward being a small change in numbers affecting other numbers, boiling down to minor decrease in the time needed to hover your crosshair over the overtly generic Dindu Nuffinses posing as enemies.

I had such high hopes for this game but as it is, 20$ would have been a waste of money, not to mention this being sold for a scathing ~60$ or so.

You should know what you buy before you buy it , same as Diablo games , there is a big following that likes min/max + grinding .... (me for example) , this is not a CoD game.

Can you give an example of a game that does it better ?

The enemies don't seem that smart early on but as you up the difficulty even the riot shield guys charging at you start to look a lot scarier when they don't die in 1 second.

The first time i got flanked by a pumpgunner in challenge mode, i was rather impressed.

The AI is certainly abusable (if you stand in a certain position, chances are they don't react if you shoot), but acting like that's somehow dumber than just running straight path towards you (like any other MMO) is just dishonest.

edit:

Sidenote, anyone else having trouble finding bosses in DZ06? The Landmarks seem to be bugged 90% of the time.

LMB are the definitely the toughest, they flush you out with grenades while flanking with shotgun rushers. not to mention they can hack ur turrets and seeker mines. but yeah some of the landmarks in dz are broken, nothing spawns at scaffolding collapse or the crashed chopper.

I like minmaxing myself but I need some actual content to go with it, otherwise I'd be happy hammering an =RAND() function in Excel. Borderlands. Diablo. Probably Path of Exile and most of the Korean grindfests. I can't think of a game that'd offer less variety when it comes to content and playing styles. In Borderlands and Diablo, the gear you have or find might have considerable impact on how you play the game. In Division it boils down to how often you need to switch covers and at what range you can effectively start shooting and how you manage your heals/reloads. And I'd love to shoot at something else besides the endless hordes humans. The only positive thing I can say about the enemies is that at least the shotties seem to try to flank you, but that is a very fragile illusion of anything resembling an actual AI and gets shattered the moment the same guy keeps on jumping up and down a ledge while the superbly ineffective JTF soldiers keep whittling at him.

This is my impression based on some 25h+ hours of play, not including the 10 or so hours during beta. And yes, I still had some high hopes after the beta but apparently I had seen all there was to see.

Because leveling in Diablo was.. Amazing? Especially on release?

And lol at your Borderlands comment, if you think that weapons have a considerable impact on playstyle, while arguing that it doesn't do the same in Division is again dishonest.

Shooting "something else besides endless hordes of humans", ahm.. Yeah. Play Dead Island then. It's still a Tom Clancy game, like.. What did you expect, honestly? You can't blame the game for being delusional, especially after you admittedly played the beta.

Btw.. As a sidenote, your game-stats are openly available. Might want to consider that before stating 25+ hours, or implying that you have seen the "endgame".

edit: to be clear, no one is arguing that amount of content is rather "meh" at the moment. There's not much of it. Implying that Diablo, Path of Exile etc were better at release(!) is purely dishonest though. And certainly, if you don't like the game, that's fine - nobody cares, i don't like certain well received games either. But playing a game, then buying it and expecting it to be something entirely else (it's a tom clancy style mmo, and it always was) - that's just dumb.

edit2: in terms of content btw, sets (tank, heal, DPS etc) are already announced, and so are new regions, plus raids. Which, i admit, nobody has seen yet, but i don't see why i should distrust Massive yet.

lmao at saying that the weapons you find in borderlands affected your gameplay style

i could say yes to diablo (and to be fair, it was still the same kind of game you just swaped one or 2 skill/runes), but borderlands ? that game is the definition of bulletsponge

but i would agree with you on the content, it lacks, but lets see how it goes, splatoon had almost no content at release and now its a full fledge game

I may buy the season pass depending on what do they add to the game; im actually hoping for they to go a little more crazy, maybe an alien/zombie invasion

I think to some degree you are obligated to play with people. I'm guessing you could do a challenge level mission alone, but it would be incredibly slow and not that efficient when farming high ends or phoenix credits. I've only done solo in the DZ so far and it can be ok, but some times it gets annoying when a group of four decides to camp the extraction zone you are trying to use. Also running through all the boss areas with a group in the DZ is a lot faster as well.

Can someone tell me exactly what to do in the dark zone ? or what are the stuff avaliable ?

I seem to run around, get levels, kill stuff and get loot (pretty awful loot btw), but nothing "interesting"

is there any place where bosses respawn or something ?

There is a bunch of named NPCs which drop phoenix credits and have better chance of dropping better loot. The 'landmarks' all represent a named NPC's spawn point (purple when its up, grey when dead), but also some named ones have unmarked spawn points.

You can also, uh, kill people.

not all landmarks spawn a named enemy though. normally my farming route is sports centre, refuelling centre, the subway near the refuelling centre, the central extraction, extract, then repeat

Man i was having so much fun in this game, until the patch hit, and Dark Zone is pretty much unplayable. People with good gear, have literally nothing to worry about, they show up in DZ01/02, and just rape those of us who have no good gear. For us its frustration and incredibly sketchy in the DZ, but those with the gear, there is no more downside to going rogue, and most of the time there's groups of 4+ rogues roaming together who just steamroll everyone in their path. Luckily i enjoy the PvE and doing dailies n stuff, but i mean cmon, 1/2 the game is pretty much locked for me at this point.

Something strange is going on with The Division, Ubisoft’s loot-shooter megahit that has dominated 2016 so far. As time goes on, the game has grown from a pretty competent and fun shooter to something that is quickly unraveling due to a series of crippling bugs and fun-destroying exploits. And it seems like developer Ubisoft Massive doesn’t really have a clue what to do about it.

While I’ve been critical of some aspects of The Division in the past, how the Dark Zone works, the loot system, and so on, that was me trying to suggest ways to make a game I like even better. But now? We’re entering new territory where many aspects of The Division have become downright unplayable, threatening the health of the entire game, and draining the interest of a would-be devoted fanbase.

First, the bugs. Ubisoft games are known for being glitchy at launch, but there hasn’t been anything so “hilarious” as Assassin Creed Unity’s invisible-faced monsters, so it hasn’t been as widely reported. But these bugs are even worse, as they directly impact players’ ability to play the game.

There’s the backpack bug, where a glitch involving an overstuffed pack has locked many players out of their account for ages. Then recently there’s the biggest bug yet, where many Xbox One players logged in to find their characters erased. Though Ubisoft has promised to bring them back, there’s still no ETA on that, nor can these players play on alts, as their entire account progress will be rolled back when the fix comes.

While those are the two major ones, there are so, so many others as well, almost all of which I’ve experienced personally. Players can fall through the floor during missions and be unable to complete them. Many story missions will fail to start at all, leaving solo or grouped players standing around a locked door. The new Incursion is putting some players in an infinite loading loop when they try to play the mission, and many haven’t been able to play it at all as a result. And though it may not be a specific bug, players are heavily abusing the “kick” system, booting players from harder missions to allow friends to join at a late stage, or just for the hell of it.

Anyone come back to see how things have changed, apparently two new areas and bugs have been fixed.

Still weird not seeing that many players in the safe zone though.

The Division, Ubisoft's big online multiplayer-focused third-person shooter, burned brightly at launch but quickly faded as a myriad of gameplay, performance and technical issues left players feeling disillusioned.

The game had gone quiet for some months before Ubisoft, and developer Massive, recently perked up to reveal a raft of changes it hoped would encourage lapsed players back into the fold.

Now, Ubisoft has announced plans to tackle one of The Division's biggest problems: balance.

One of the issues facing the game right now is that there's a massive power difference between optimised and non-optimised builds. This gap between the two extremes, most agree, is too large.

Ubisoft said that as part of the upcoming Update 1.4, due out in October, it wants to "bring back the shooter feeling" to the game, add more decision-making and hard choices when building your character, and add more variety to the viable builds.

Finally!

Ubisoft Massive is rolling on with its Public Test Server for update 1.6 and Last Stand of Tom Clancy’s The Division. The developer offered more information on the third iteration of the PTS and there are significant changes afoot.

Sprinting while reloading was removed for the PTS but it’s now being added back in with PTS 3 since the change was too big for some players. With changes made to Armour and the emergence of the Skill Power meta, it also noted that the Cluster Mod for the Seeker Mine would no longer stagger enemies.

Furthermore, the turret is receiving some changes to its health and range to make it easier to combat. Players will also be unable to stack Support Stations for large amounts of healing.

Changes have been made to Exotics like the Historian and Caduceus while the new SEEKR gear set will be removed altogether since it wasn’t unique enough nor fun to play with.

Still no new content:

https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/comments/5whzan/the_division_update_16_last_stand_patch_notes/

But to add a fuck you they introduce a "Premium" currency to buy emotes and so on. How much dev time could have been spent on content rather than this BS. Never mind those that bought the Season Pass...

Actually played again last night, they still need constant monitoring and banning people using glitches in the DZ but it has gotten a lot better. 1.8 is grabbing my interest I will admit.

Not for EA's "Cashgrab" Anthem which will likely be another microtransaction fiasco. Division 2 is going to be a good alternative to that mess.

Bump. Looks like the game is getting a Mature rating. Also the magazine with the full depth coverage of the game has been pushed back to the 17th to align with the lifting of the NDA from Ubisoft.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is almost here, but before it can release into the hands of the public, the good folk over at the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB, the people who rate your games if you live in North America) have taken the online open-world third-person shooter for a test-run in order to determine what type of content rating it should have.

So, what does the ESRB think of The Division 2? Well, like the first game, it gave the sequel a "M" for "Mature" rating that broadly warns of not just any ol' violence, but intense violence. Further, it notes of drug references, strong, language, and blood.

It also points out for buyers to beware of user interaction and of in-app purchases, which doesn't mean there's microtransactions per-say, but in this case, there are.

The ESRB also provide the following "rating summary" of the Ubisoft game:

"This is a tactical third-person shooter in which players assume the role of an elite government agent battling hostile factions in a fictionalized Washington D.C. Players use machine guns, sniper rifles, and explosives to kill waves of enemy soldiers/thugs in frenetic combat. Firefights are highlighted by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes depict instances of intense violence: characters shot in the head at close range; a restrained character struck repeatedly with a hammer (mostly off screen). A fictional drug called Spice is prevalent in the game, as well as other drug references: bags of Spice, drug labs, drug-making paraphernalia depicted; the words 'Drug Kitchen' written on some walls. The words 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' and 'a*shole' appear in the dialogue."

Of course, if you played the first game, which released back in 2016, then all of this will sound pretty familiar. Tom Clancy's The Division 2 isn't exactly the most kid-friendly game, but it's not as bad as some games with mature ratings.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is slated to release worldwide on March 15. At the moment of publishing this, there's been no word of a Nintendo Switch port, which at this point, seems pretty unlikely.

Well, these are the launchers I have anyway. Just please don't make me install ubisoft or origin launchers XD

Epic gives way better deals to developers than steam, so this is reasonable.
It does make me curious why Blizzard doesn't try to make their store more of a general thing. Seems like a good idea to make money

Not sure how Division 2 is going to be better. They've proven with Division 1 that this is absolutely not the case, and are already shaping up to do worse with Division 2 by offering extra Stash Storage in the Ultimate Edition (or some other one, don't care - the £100 one).

I've got around 300 hours in Division 1, i really enjoyed the game and probably will grab Division 2 once discounted too - but to argue that Division 2 isn't going to be riddled with micro transactions is a very long shot considering that the pre-order already paywalls people out of extra stash space. And in fact didn't rule out Lootboxes either.

Regardless of how needed it is or not (and it was very needed in Division 1 for many people), i don't see any reason to be optimistic about micro transactions in either game.

The Division 2 looks interesting. I hope they do more with the story and maybe clean up some of the weirder part of the series. The game had this cool GI Joe special agent feel to it, but then opened up with me shooting the cast of the Wire for looting places I was totally going to loot. They gotta open up with some over the top villain groups to mesh with their over the top premise. But Ubisoft has typically been pretty good at responding to criticism like that. Because that opening trailer to Division 1 was so evocative and made me really want to play it.

I also hope they have the same lush, detail filled environments they had in the Division 1. With all of its faults, the NYC they created in that game felt vast and dense. It evoked the same feeling of Dark Souls 1 and 3 where I could feel that each environment was hand crafted by someone with specific intent. That diminished in some of the missions, but the open world of Division was always awesome to explore and get into trouble in.

Gotta agree. The "open world", was absolutely stunning. I even bought a new GPU back then just to be able to put every slider to the right and still run >80fps.

Right after my last post complaining about paywalling customers, i pre-ordered. Need food for my new GPU.

Meh.

Leave it to Microsoft/Xbox to spoil a possibly huge element of the game... but unknown if it is part of the game or was just part of the alpha test phases. He edited the video so as not be banned or copyrighted by YouTube. Just still being speculation on his part.

Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming private beta for Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will begin early next month on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

More specifically, The Division 2's private beta will run from Thursday, February 7th, to Monday, February 11th in Europe. And given that the game launches just over a month later, this is presumably a "beta" in the new-fangled sense of the word.

According to Ubisoft, there are two ways in which interested parties can get involved. Those that pre-order the game are guaranteed access to the private beta, while everyone else can register to play via The Division 2's website. The publisher notes, however, that places are limited and "invites to registered players will be sent based on the available space".

Those that opt to pre-order The Division 2, meanwhile, might also want to look at the private beta FAQ. There are a variety of different, not always intuitive, steps required to access the beta, depending on where the game is purchased and whether it's a physical or digital copy.

Start and end times, plus more details on what will be available to play during the private beta, will be revealed closer to February 7th.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 launches on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 15th. As previously announced, the PC version will be skipping Steam this time around.

I can't help it I am starting to get excited for this game. Even tempted to preorder it from Gamestop so I can start playing it on the March 12th a few days early.

The story of Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will take roughly 40 hours to beat, according to a new post from Xbox Wire.

Word comes more specifically via the game's main developers, Massive Entertainment and Red Storm Entertainment, who also reveal that the game's story "was designed with endgame in mind first," and just like last time, can be played entirely solo if that's what you choose.

Now, what this exactly entails isn't exactly obvious. From the sounds of it though, the story of The Division 2 will seemingly roll right into the endgame. In other words, there won't be any period of mindlessly grinding in-between the campaign and endgame, like there's in a lot of similar games of this mold.

Ubisoft also provides the following story synopsis for the game:

"Seven months have passed since a deadly virus hit New York City and the rest of the world, crippling the population. When the virus hit, The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents, was activated as the last line of defense. Since then, Division agents have been fighting relentlessly to save what remains.

"For The Division, the stakes are higher than ever. Washington, D.C. – the most heavily protected city on earth – is at risk, leaving the entire nation on the brink of collapse. If Washington, D.C., is lost, then the nation falls. As a Division agent who has been in the field for seven months, you and your team are the last hope to stop the fall of society after the pandemic collapse."

Beyond the story, it sounds like Ubisoft has made substantial improvements to the endgame this time around. As you may remember, there wasn't much to do after your beat the first game, at least in terms of meaningful content. But now there isn't one, but three Dark Zones, and a dedicated PvP mode, which should go a long way in extending the life of the game for many. If it's good, that is.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is poised to release worldwide on March 15 via the PS4, PC, and Xbox One. Before that though, a Private Beta for the game will be held from February 7 to the 10.

New interview with terry Spier.

Seems like crafting has gotten a huge upgrade...

There seemed to be a lot of new crafting items like titanium and ceramic. Are you diversifying so there is more variety in the types of items users need to build new gear?

The crafting system is insane. It's completely out of my range to talk about, but I know that Massive has put a lot of time into it. It doesn't come into play in organized PvP, but we'll have crafting nodes it the dark zone so players can gather and get all the things they need. There is a lot.

Also clans...

Let's talk about clans. How are you handling clan progression? What are the rewards behind that? Isthat cosmetic emblems and things like that?

It's absolutely cosmetic. We want to make sure that people who participate in the clan feature can be as flamboyant as they want to really deck out their character and make sure they can be as proud as they want of their organization. There's nothing behind clans. If you were not to participate, you're not missing out on anything beyond being a part of a special community. You're not missing out on weapons or gear or anything like that.

Are you creating an infrastructure that allows clans to matchmake and scrimmage with other clans?

At launch, that's not integrated. But I can tell the goal is to have clans be part of all the features in the game. Right now, no, there isn't a custom match with clan, but hold tight.

Source

In a new interview, Tony Sturtzel, the senior producer at The Division 2 developer Red Storm Entertainment, shed more light on the game’s DLC plans. Sturtzel confirmed that there are plans to introduce more PvP game modes as free, post-launch updates. The developer added that the aim of the team is to “ship this game with a few maps uniquely built for the best PvP experiences.”

Though, Sturtzel also stressed that The Division 2‘s competitive multiplayer wouldn’t be the only area of the game to benefit from post-launch content updates. Additionally, players of the upcoming shooter can expect to see more “story-driven missions and map expansions.” Like the new PvP modes, this story-focused DLC will also be available for free. Sturtzel explains that this is part of the team’s “ongoing commitment to keep our dedicated community energized and playing.”

Sturtzel also explains that the team has an “endgame-first mentality.” The developer adds that this means that “fans can expect more content drops in the future after completing the campaign.” It has already been confirmed that The Division 2‘s story will take players dozens of hours to complete and with side missions, PvP, and post-launch content, players will have more than a few reasons to continue to play the game.

During the interview, Sturtzel did not explicitly state how long it would take the team to add this content. It’s unclear how long the development team(s) would need to assess player feedback and figure out what players would require from new PvP maps. The studio may have some ideas, but it’s not known whether these ideas are in the works or if they are still at the drawing board stage.

Sigh, pre-ordered.

Reason being, they got credit with me - played 200 hours roughly of Division 1, bought a few skins and the season pass. Looked at the prices, decided i wanted the game plus season pass, and then saw that Ultimate was somewhat reduced and was basically like a 5er or something more expensive than game + season pass. Went for that then.

Because i love living the dangerous life!

Drummed grenade launcher, i wonder how that's gonna be balanced.

Getting slightly excited, even started farming Division 1 again, though i'm so far out of the loop i got no idea what to do really. Still fun.

Apparently I will get this for free with the new rig I bought.

Will this be any good for playing solo? I vaguely remember Division 1 beeing very team dependant (dark zone) if you wanted to get any loot out of it.

The PvE sounds very promising. Also Talents have been scrapped which throws Armor sets completely out the window now.

Well, DZ wasn't the only place to get loot. I played D1 solo for a long time and it was absolutely fine. D2 will be fine too - of course, as a solo in one of the DZs, you got to play more carefully. That being said, i extracted gear from DZ as a solo in D1 too. You just have to be more careful.

Other than that, just played the first 10 minutes now, pretty sure i'm going to sink another 100+ hours into this one. It feels good, once you get over the fact that some things feel "different", like the UI/Inventory management (minimap smaller and on wrong side, too).

Though, i don't understand why they've decided to put "dismantle" in the inventory on TAB now, rather than X as it was. It's confusing after dismantling literally thousands of items. Muscle memory.

Not sure how much i enjoy the unlock variants of the skills, haven't tested it yet - there's a lot of "micromanagement" involved with a few skills now, like the Turret that comes now in a sniper variant that you have to manually designate targets for, and the Drone has some similar stuff. Sounds interesting, but time will tell how much space/time/focus one can spend in combat to micromanage that.

Intend to play basically the entire evening with fiancee and a mate, i'm very confident from what i've seen so far that we're gonna love it.

edit: forgot to mention, zero technical issues so far - had a queue of 200 ppl when i logged in, was roughly 10 seconds of waiting - i personally prefer queues over broken servers and endless loading screens. That being said, didn't restart after setting it to DX12 - something that absolutely did not work in Division 1 for me and my 2080ti with crashes that you could set your timepiece to. (Almost) Literally every 2 minutes the game would crash. Hope that's fixed, gonna check later tonight.

yeah I played a lot of solo DZ in the first game. I usually called extraction, then hid, and scanned before coming back to make sure it was safe.

saw a writeup on reddit about some of the big changes from the first game. enemies are much less bullet spongey and react to being shot. there's incentive to keep crap gear that might have one perfect roll as you can transfer that roll to another piece of gear in recalibration. looking forward to playing the beta, then i might consider preordering.

Played a little more and am a bit more concerned now, there are still plenty of bugs, ranging from server instabilities (got disconnected four times in three hours, including losing gear), animations playing endlessly and desync with other players (i could see an NPC, my fiancee couldn't), sound seems a mess currently with half of it not playing, the other half having zero bass to it (everything sounds like airguns - even explosions), sometimes effects don't play, as explosions don't have an actual explosion, etc..

Also, you can't cancel a skill anymore, in D1 when you pressed E for the turret for example, you got to chose where you want to throw it, left click to throw or cancel. You can't cancel anymore in D2, i'm not sure if it's a bug or intended.

I'll be honest, the game is fun to play and the Division bug basically instantly bit again, but i'm not confident for the launch.

I can't. Not the airburst grenade. It zooms my gun, with the "E-Circle" still flopping around.

edit: which obviously makes sense since the character instantly puts the seeker mine on the floor as soon as you press E (or Q), which it didn't in D1.

edit2, double checked - yeah, you can still cancel the turret - but you can't cancel the seeker mine. Which btw makes the name now completely moronic, since it's not seeking anything anymore. It's now a "radio controlled mine" at best.

hmm, I haven't used the air burst version, just the normal one, but putting it down was similar to the first game. press Q/E once, and you go into throwing mode. if you double tap Q/E, you set it down next to you. obviously if you set it down, then it's been deployed and you can't take it back. it behaved the same way in division 1

There's no throwing the airburst version, it works exactly like the bombardier drone.

Yeah, bit dumb.

After checking the "late game demo" earlier, .. i don't know. It didn't feel good. Weapons feel kinda ass, i'm not going to lie. The forced scoping while ADS with sniper rifles is ridiculous and a completely unnecessary change/nerf. Every weapon the demolitionist gets at the start feels incredibly underwhelming against elites, i mean yay, the SPAS12 can two shot a red enemy, great. That's.. about it. If you think in D1 enemies were bullet sponges, you're not gonna like D2.

I do like that overall, the game feels a bit more dynamic - while pathing for enemies kinda is ass quite often, it actually feels like they're actively trying to avoid you coming close and circle you, for the most part. They don't just sit behind cover for 7 minutes.

There's a few things that i absolutely hate already. In the "late game demo", the enemy is using airburst underbarrel grenade launchers or something (airburst stuff) which pushes you out of cover. In front of a fucking minigun. And not just once. They can and do spam it. And there's nothing to dodge because these don't have an indicator as to who's being shot with it - same with the suicide drones that are seemingly spammable for NPC, since we had at least 5 or more incoming in less than 30 seconds. Those push you out too. The minigun literally demolishes you in less than two seconds.

Yeah, of course it's doable. But it's hilariously frustrating and imbalanced, and you can't do shit about it.

Don't get me started even on the EMP grenades, which completely devastate your health/armor for some reason.

Overall, yeah, i like Division 2.But there's plenty of work to be done, and some things feel genuinely like they weren't not only not thought through but were a placeholder for a system that was supposed to come but they cba to actually do it - attachments. It's so unexciting, and it absolutely demolishes half the lategame since there's no "min-maxing" involved anymore with attachments. You just don't use them because they suck major ass currently, and on release you use the same ones, always. Nothing changes ever, you won't get a mag that may be a slight upgrade.

Like, who thought it's a good idea in a looter to take away.. you know.. loot? Imagine Diablo 3, every item drops with the same stats. Like, why? It's so stupid.

A lot of bugs still, which is absolutely expected in a beta - but 5 weeks before launch, one has to wonder how much they can actually fix before release. Hell we had entire showstoppers, repeatable (there's two of these attack points in the "low level demo", the northern one, you can't actually finish because the enemy who's supposed to have a key spawns behind a door that doesn't open - and 45 seconds later he magically dies behind that door, leaving the key there).

I'm not gonna make friends with this, but in all honesty? Anthems demo had less bugs.

Not to mention the biggest idiocy, like why are weaponsounds so underwhelming? I initially thought (i think i even mentioned it) it was a bug or a problem with my system (much like many people didn't have any voice overs etc), but after watching streams - weapons are supposed to sound like this. Pumpguns almost sound similar to silenced weapons in D1. No "hit sound" either for headshots/hits.

Eh.. Not gonna lie, the beta was a little sobering.

I love the inclement weather, but they need to make balance adjustments before release. RC Car Bomb spam, and grenades are back. Not to mention Skill cool-downs are way, way too long. And the AI far too short. You think the weather would affect accuracy but nope.

The weather is indeed cool, we were pretty shocked to see how dark/impaired visibility we had in a thunderstorm, that even sounded great (with the character, how to explain, pulling his head in/raising shoulders to get some rain protection, too).

I just wish i could turn on a flashlight in these moments, with some cool lighting effects.

That all being said, i don't know if it's just me, but the graphics seem to be a downgrade? I know that many "problems" with D1 graphically were hidden/obscured by the snow, but some areas feel very undertextured in D2. And that's with literally everything cranked up (apart from DX12, since that still crashes like mad).

It's hard to explain, the world doesn't seem as coherently nice as in D1, which wherever you looked, you had gorgeous graphics (because "problems" in textures etc were hidden by snow). Here, often it looks.. I don't know. A bit like Hitman, with some parts simply very bland.

Kind of spoilerish but holy shit Ubisoft/Massive if they actually deliver because I guarantee there will be a race to level 30. Also kind of spoiler territory if you want to go in blind story wise etc. Skip to the 12 minute mark.

Mostly endgame discussion.

So tier 5 will not be ready by release just the first 4 tiers. Makes me wonder if Tier 5 holds an entirely different faction or something.

Massive clearly learned a bunch over the course of the original Division’s live service and arguably its most important takeaway was the need for a solid endgame right out of the gate with the sequel. This has led to the team taking an “endgame first” approach with The Division 2 and it shows. What was discussed on yesterday’s stream made the game sound like two games in one. Players will play through the main story and get to level cap as they would in any one of these games, but what’s different this time around is that what awaits players once the credits roll honestly sounds even larger in scope than the main game before it.

Over the course of the main story you’ll slowly wrest control over the DC area away from the violent factions that have taken over. You’ll capture control points and take these factions head on in their Strongholds, but once you beat the campaign a new faction called the Black Tusk invades the city and these guys are serious business. They’re so successful in their invasion that they’ve kicked the factions you previously fought out of their Strongholds and back out onto the streets and this throws everything into chaos. All the control points you’ve captured and fast travel points unlocked over the course of the campaign reset. You’re basically pushed all the way back to your home base of the White House. It’s a sort of New Game+, in a sense.

Before you can start taking on the Black Tusk, you’ll need to choose from one of three Specializations. These include the Grenade Launcher, the Sniper Rifle, and the Crossbow. Each brings a different approach to combat and you’ll be able to switch between them.

The Division 2’s endgame experience takes place across five different World Tiers (four available at launch). Players of the original game will recognize the World Tier system, but there are some key differences in the way this system works. No longer can you just rapidly gear up and speed through to the highest tier. The progression is a bit more directed this time around.

Tiers 1-3 are unlocked by beating invaded versions of the game’s original three Strongholds, now taken over by the Black Tusk. Each Stronghold will be gated by a pair of missions and a Gear Score requirement. You can pick whichever of the three you want to go for first and once you beat the Stronghold you choose, you’ll be promoted to the next World Tier, and so on. As one can imagine, each tier is harder than the last and the Gear Score requirements for the next Stronghold go up until you’ve beaten all three of the game’s original Strongholds and unlock World Tier 4.

World Tier 4 introduces the Priority Target Network, which is a tiered set of Bounties. The regular game will feature Bounties you can spend Target Intel to unlock, but those found in the Priority Target Network will need to be tackled in sequential order and they get harder as you go along. The harder the target, the better the rewards. These bounties are built using a logic-based system that gives the targets a certain budget of points to spend on different gear and abilities based on their difficulty levels. It’s not purely random, but it should keep things fresh with differing targets.

You’ll also unlock the Challenging difficulty in WT4 and once WT5 launches, players will need to fight the Black Tusk at their Stronghold, Tidal Basin, in order to unlock that. More features will be coming in WT5, but no details are available just yet.

In between all the World Tiers are myriad new features and changes to the way existing features worked in the main game. One of the more interesting changes is the way the Living World system evolves once the Black Tusk come in. In the campaign, taking over control points is a permanent thing, but once the Black Tusk arrive and boot all the factions out of their Strongholds, the world map becomes a chaotic back and forth with factions vying for control over these points. It’s not just you as a player going after and taking control of these points, but the AI will fight each other and will also act according to a programmed system of motivations.

Each faction (and even the allied Settlements) is governed by needs for things like food, water, and components and they all also each have a unique base motivation . If a faction is lacking in one area, they will take actions to shore that up, but if they’re fully satisfied in terms of their basic needs, then they’ll take actions based on whatever their unique faction motivations are. So one faction might think it’s a good idea to go out and execute some hostages, while another may put out some new propaganda. Settlements will take the fight to these guys as well, so you may find yourself with some help. Factions that are pushed back enough will lash out and take even more aggressive action than usual. Of course, the Black Tusk themselves will be making moves across the map and that’s a whole other thing to worry about.

This system gets another wrinkle added on top of it once you get to World Tier 4. Control points will now have levels of difficulty, starting with Normal. If you do events surrounding the control point, you’ll effectively rank up its difficulty, making it harder to complete, but also increasing its rewards.

Another interesting change with The Division 2 is what's being done to spice up repeatedly playing through content. I’ve personally talked about the need for a level of randomness to keep things fresh in the past, but the devs are doing something even smarter. Like the Priority Target Network, they’re using a logic system for missions to achieve the desired variety of something like a randomized system, but without the frustrations of a system that’s truly random. When replaying content, you may find different enemies, or enemies will spawn from different locations, but Massive has tested the individual parts of this system so you’re not running into the sorts of frustrating configurations you might encounter in a truly randomized system.

A couple of other features discussed during the stream were the Snitch & Gun Runner characters and something called the Deck of 52. The Snitch is a character you’ll meet through the main campaign, but once you get to the endgame, he’ll clue you in on the location of a character named Cassie Mendoza. She’ll spawn in a different location of the map individual to each player and will only be revealed once you find The Snitch. Cassie is basically The Division 2’s Xur in that she’ll have a special stock of powerful gear that rotates out each week. Cassie will only appear in a specific location for 1.5 days at a time, but she’ll have the same stock available for the week, so players will have plenty of opportunities to track her down.

The Deck of 52 sounds like a cool throwback to a similar system from Mercenaries. Basically, there are 52 named bosses, with each of the four factions representing a suit. Taking out these targets will earn you loot and commendations and you won’t encounter the same target twice until you complete the entire set.

In addition to all this content, you’ll also find your expected slate of dailies and weeklies to complete for a variety of different activities, including Projects. One notable thing that Massive is doing here with Projects is that they’re allowing you to keep or discard a task similar to the way these assignments work in Hearthstone. If you didn’t finish a daily Project today, you can tackle it tomorrow, or decide to discard it for something new. The choice is yours.

So Gamestop is only allowing those that preordered the Steel Book editions of the game to be picked up at 9pm tonight, what kind of idiotic thinking is that? That would leave less than 2 hours before the servers open to download the entire patch etc.

Stupid.

Omg they fixed the deconstruction process. It now works like in Division 1 again, V marks as junk and jumps one item down, and deconstruction isn't interrupted anymore when moving the mouse while holding TAB.

Sounds weird, but that's one of the most annoying things from the betas fixed for me, makes me feel instantly "at home" again.

Now for some performance improvements, i feel like certain parts of the game (the square after leaving the WH for example) don't run well considering the hardware i'm throwing at it - and i don't want to imagine how it'd run on mid-lowrange PCs.

In regards to pre-load, is the pre-load for the second wave already up? I'm actually not 100% sure on that one.

Thought I was downloading the game, but I was so tired I picked the game up from GameStop and started downloading but being an idiot I hit select all and deleted all the notifications, including, the 40 Gig patch that was downloading. Good morning to me and a 9 hour wait to download 40 gigs.

I rolled over at around 2am and a voice told me to check the PS4 -.-; I went back to sleep.

Oof. I thought we have wooden internets here out in the sticks.

40gb in 9 hours, that's 10-15mbit? Sidenote, i've seen a few comments (actually quite a lot) on reddit in regards to the PS4 version, seems to have developed performance problems?

Yeah I read that so far the workaround seems to be simply log off and log back on.

Only 28 Gigs left estimated time is 4 hours.

First opinions are all over the net. Mostly positive:

- good start
- no crashes, bugs
- story is interesting
- lots of stuff to do
- loot is rewarding

Apparently first people are through the story, max lvl 30, and are tackling world tier 1 already

Have to say I am loving this game and there is so much to do. I love the way the enemies constantly try to outflank you etc.

The cool downs on some skills needs to be tweaked though, or just allow us to be able to pick up turrets, mines, and drones.

Well you kinda can.

If you throw a turret and enemies are melted, hold E or Q (or the corresponding button on the pad) and you'll blow up the turret, resulting in a reduced cooldown. Not "no" cooldown, but usually it's ready pretty fast afterwards.

pulse is so bad compared to the first game. awful range and long cooldown. it doesn't even have a much reduced cooldown if you don't scan any enemies.

As many have mentioned they need to either add flashlights, or night vision mechanics to the game. And also make Firefly skill a simple toss and autotarget.

The shield is great in PVP, PVE not so much since it does break pretty quickly. Damage Hive is pretty underwhelming, yeah. It can be okay in some spots but very situational and runs out of charges way too fast.

Happy Release Day! Remember the first you Perk you get should go into the weapon slot to have three guns instead of two, then max out the Accolades to get extra exp. Follow up with Armor Kits, and Grenades. Then backpack space etc.

Also you can only change your appearance after you do the Bank HQ and recruit the guy from the campus settlement.

Game has some weird micro stutters now and then. From my own expirience background programs might have something to do with it, can't watch streams on 2nd monitor etc.

Playing on Xbox One X here, around 15 hours in the game runs like a charm. No bugs, no glitches, no crashes, no fps drops. Simply perfect!

Gameplaywise however there are a couple of things I'd like to see change. First, whenever I'm looking for someone to join my group for a main mission I get teleported away from the mission to the other player. So I have to walk all the way back to mission again.
I'd also like to see some changes to the skills because so far it seems like the Hive and the Turret are the best skills while there is no reason to use for example the Pulse or the Shield.

Running Incinerator turret and Assault Drone, switching the drone for a Resto-Hive if necessary.

The incinerator turret is just by far the best area denial tool. It might actually be the only one in the game coming to think of it. You can also turn it on/off which helps with visibility etc.

Gotta agree though, skills are rather underwhelming in general, with the majority of them being entirely useless (Firefly, Chemlauncher, Scan and many of the subcategory ones etc). I wouldn't even mind that they're weak, if they'd have a corresponding cooldown - instead of minutes and minutes of waiting for something incredibly weak to come off CD.

Or, of course, make them worth using, and keep the long CD.

So far what annoyed me most is probably bolt action rifles (M700 all variations etc), or everything that reloads bullet by bullet (M870 etc) - you can instantly scope in after reloading, but if you fire nothing's happening because the animation of, i assume, closing the breach or whatever is still playing - but the gun still shoots after the animation finishes even if the click was a full second ago.

It's good that the most annoying thing is a minor inconvenience though.

Very impressed with the release itself.
On track to MA1950A.

No release date for World Tier 5.

Next Server Patch
These are some of the fixes they plan to deploy in the next server patch.
  • Progress blockers like “Talk to the Division Coordinator” / “Talk To that Person” will be addressed.
  • Daily and Weekly Projects that are not resetting (They are not resetting when you are not online)
    Clan XP progress:
  • If a player with stuck CXP stays in the clan, then any missing CXP/progression will be applied to their clan after the fix is deployed on their next login.
  • If a player with stuck CXP leaves and rejoins the clan, then they will be able to earn CXP/progression again immediately, but any missing CXP/progression will be permanently lost.
  • Group Scaling when you play with a different leveled player is also not working as intended. The NPC tuning is wrong – they are doing to much damage. This will be changed but it will not fix all the issues. There is also a problem with item scaling because a green item buffed to level 30 has not the same stats as a high-end item on level 30. But this needs a client patch

Next Client Patch
These are some of the planned features that will be added in the next client patch:
  • Rest of the Skill-reset reasons will be addressed
  • The rest of the group-scaling issues (the item quality part)
  • The issue when your character suddenly looks different will be addressed
  • Lost skins should be returned

Other planned features
These are some features that are planned but we don’t have a date for them
  • Autorun on console will be added
  • The color of clan members Names will be changed (it will not be yellow anymore)
  • Strobe lighting will be addressed
  • Field of View slider will be added
  • The scaling of the Skill Mods in the World Tiers are being looked into

Played a few hours now. This is a very good, solid game. But its missing something that I love so much in Anthem.
Maybe cover shooters are just not my thing, dunno. Seems boring and repetitive from the beginning. Will go back to Anthem now

This is a total wild tangent, but seing this thread pop up made me wonder "what is Tom Clancy's involvement in this video game anyway?", only to google and find out that it's absolutely none, that he died in 2013 and that before that he sold the rights to his name (in video games) to Ubisoft.

RIP, Red Storm Rising was a fun book. Not deep, just fun in a blockbuster kind of way.
