You have more "stuff" as it is, more weapons - multiple pistols, bolt action rifles etc. however this doesn't change a lot as far as end game goes. Once you get gear you are satisfied with there is nothing to do apart from killing people or "role playing". It's just a matter of imagination. I can still play SA but I have friends that get bored without additional end game like storage or vehicles. You can still play the game if you own it, so you can figure out if what is in right now can keep you entertained.
I'm currently playing the DayZ mod and I'm having a blast. I wonder if I'll be able to run the standalone though and I can't make sense of the games recommended specs. Some people with high-end specs seem to have terrible FPS and others with no-so-great specs seem to run at a steady 30.
Is there anybody here that can give me any advice on whether or not I could run the SA with a decent FPS? AMD Phenom II X4 B55 3.2 GHz Nvidia GTX 460 1GB 4GB Ram

If you can run dayzmod you can run any game on the planet, including SA. Yes, its that bad
I can't believe I let myself get pressured into buying the standalone. This game is utter trash :|
It's alpha so it's possible the game will improve and I'll get my money's worth from it but at the moment it's largely unplayable unless you enjoy hiking sims. Spent four hours on a 40/40 player server two nights ago and never saw a single player or zombie. Not sure why the game has so many positive reviews on Steam.
Stick with the mod for now and maybe in another 3-4 years the standalone will be worth picking up (although unlikely now since their source code was stolen).
SA is terrible right now. The new spawn points totally ruined the game, there is no PvP hub anymore, there is no point playing if you don't want to RP a canadian lumberjack. We tried to play two times recently with a friend, and each time we roamed the map for ages without seeing anyone on 40 player servers, and then suddenly got shot in the middle of nowhere \o/ fun.

I would agree and echo only one thing, the low pop servers. Other than that, DayZ SA is looking extremely well lately, since they've got the grip on how to hire and manage 120 people ( yes that many is working on SA ) they are pushing content very fast and I am looking forward to Q3. There is shit to do right now and with yesterday's update there is even more - HOARDING MUHAHAHA.
My thing is they have made some design decisions that i couldnt disagree with more.
They focused on over complicating trivial things like all of the medical stuff instead of implementing the core mechanics of the game that everyone loved, or even polishing what everyone already liked. There is just no reason to be willing to jump through all of the hoops with the bloodtype bs for it to ever be worth bloodbagging your friend. Just kill him and make him run back to get his stuff.
Its turned into Post Apocalypse Collection/Shopping simulator.
IDK they really overcomplicated stupid mundane tasks for the sake of realism...but the result is having SA that is infinitely inferior to the mod.
IDK hopefully when they introduce the campsites/vehicles and high priority loot spawns again the game will be somewhat more enjoyable..but atm its not even close to the Mod.

1) Full medical content is not implemented, and will be improved with the possible semi-class system that is going in later. 2) Carry a single bag of saline, an epi, and morphine in addition to bandages, it's very easy to get an unconscious player up and moving again 3) Carry meat, I'm pretty sure it increases blood or health in small amounts, which is good.
Welcome to alpha testing, where they told you it was going to be shit, it sort of is, but is getting better
