I once beat a guy 11-0 and it was pretty much non stop scoring, so how your opponent got 17 just baffles me!!! Like, if you just leave the controller alone it'll be hard for them to get 17 goals. Which reminds me, the biggest tip I can give you on defence is: let the computer do most of the defending, your job is to control players to intercept passes, cut off moves and bring reinforcements back. Barely ever attempt to control any of your back 4 defenders. The Ai is pretty good and doesn't get faked out like humans do. The only time you should control a back 4 defender is when they are clearly going for a shot outside the box and you can block it!

I destroyed somebody 11-2 yesterday one game and got obliterated 0-7 the next. Idk why FUT matches me up against a pure Bronze team (me at that point: 4 silver, 1 gold, rest bronze) and then against a pure golden team, who outpace me completely. He was able to run circles around my defender as I chased him. Even now, as I have upgraded to ok defense, pacy little forwards just own me. I hope that this does not happen all the time & that I get oppents on my level again.
What formations do you guys use in FUT? I run a 4-4-1-1 atm

The problem with online clubs is balancing it, if we have enough for a full team would be fun for a session a week or something. But when you have like 8/9/10 its problematic with people trying to play rb/lb. Easy with anything up to 6/7 people with just the any controlling defense.

Those with console version should think about getting for PC maybe not FIFA 13 but could think about it for FIFA 14. It is great to play and for PS3 and XBOX lovers you can just buy USB versions of the controller and play it as your PC controller xD

Im totally down for playing on the TL team. My brother and i used to play on a league on ps3 for a while. Once i got it on PC i was like screw the ps3 version.
God, it's been so long since I've played FIFA. I'll have to think about getting it. The problem is usually finding people (read: friends) to play with. Most of my friends have no internet or are into hockey.

The game if obviously better in Singleplayer, but no MyTeam Mode on PC and you can't play vs Friends only "QuickGame" vs Randoms. But I don't care. I play Association with realistic Draftclasses, thats the best thing EVER! If FIFA would be 50% that great I would play it 24/7.

Dude you have to just buy a wired xbox controller and learn. You'll want a controller for ANY fighting game, sports game, racing game and even action game like assassin's creed.

Honestly, i've never had any issues playing rb/lb. The teams ive played for that got big eventually moved me there lol. It isn't hard if you're willing to play it properly instead of pushing up haphazardly or failing to shift to the side a little where the ball is.

Yeh used to be really easy to do that on FIFA 10 i think it was, but it can still be done now. Not sure about outside of the box, but for example when your running into the box on an angle u can chip it over keeper who is facing the nearpost and it go into the farcorner xD i do that alot (well attempt too)

Yeah I know about that, I miss half my 1on1s trying to do that but I was thinking of outside the box, like in the vid.
I think it got taken out pretty much, keeper's position themselves a lot better and chipping is harder in Fifa13. Pandemona is right though, in Fifa10 you hit chips from out of the box and get them in.. but this was because the keeper was always basically out of position. For example, Riise could smash them in verrryy reliably from half field just because the keeper was defaulting to the edge of his area.

I played my first online match in Seasons mode... I had forgotten how mad I get when games lag. Any thoughts from anyone? My internet, while not the greatest, is fine for LoL and SC2. Was the guy I was playing just laggy or is there some port forwarding or something I should do?

Done Yeah Lag is an issue, sometimes it is your end, but sometimes it is there end or even the servers. I felt a bit of lag yesterday and it really does effect you on the PC more than when you console play it. Still i didn't lose any XD. All you can do is reload FIFA and check your ping etc
I just read that they will be using the new engine for FIFA14 on XBOX1 and PS4 only, PC stays on the level of the XBOX360/PS3 with higher resolution. Guess I am not buying FIFA 14 then.
That's especially a blow to professional FIFA, the games will most likely differ like 3 years ago (I think FIFA 11 had still the old engine on PC, while 360/PS3 got the new one), which makes it very hard to train crossplatformwise. I.e. WCG is PC, FIWC was PS3, lets see what it is now. My guess is PS4/new XBOX. Then there was something called "Virtuelle Bundesliga" (virtual Bundesliga) this year, which was also just consoles.
The dream: able to play FIFA against/with ppl on a console. I guess thats never going to happen -.-
PES just needs a better Netcode and there would be no reason to play FIFA. Gameplaywise PES was always far ahead, it just lacks the smooth online-play.

Yeah such a let down >.< You can understand that maybe the console market got a grip on developers and said focus your design for console game engines and that had suffered for PC. Just a wild guess.
But i do agree i doubt their is any point in getting FIFA for PC if it literally is going to be the same but with diffo squads and better graphics :S Plus i think FIFA 13 engine wasn't refined enough anyway, it needed more fine tunements which i guess will be bought to the console versions. Interesting. FIFA 14 is being released 27th September on Xbox 360 PS3 and PC. No sign of it for PS4/Xbox One yet. Wonder if that means anything or if thats all they are saying at the moment.

I cruised to D1 on FUT for PS3 with all silvers, honestly i recommend making a decent team of all silvers then start buying whatever you want. I think you can scrape your way to D1 with all bronzes but you'd let in a LOT of terrible goals due to stat differences.

You do realise it's the most played format in Fifa?
FUT is fun as soon as you get it going (took me ~ 5 seasons to get to all gold, no cup played, all seasons league title), you can buy manager contracts just where you buy player contract, the symbols are just different. Make sure to spend 250 max on those contracts, they are pretty cheap.
What bothered me with FUT are mismatches, me like all Bronze/silver, opponent all gold - while being a pace abusing whore.
Gonna play a game or two before the relegation match I think :D
@Purpose: Give it a few games more, I've quit it after 1 season, came back 4 months later, played 2 seasons more and suddenly it was fun as hell

Seasons is the way to go.

Yeah you can just play games. Also, try to buy loads of managers who have +3% contract. Each different manager's bonus is cumulative. You can end up with like 50% more contract length.

i could play but i only use keyboard (still haven't bought myself a controller) so i would probably be more of a liability than anything.
One person can control "all" the players that are left. Then depending how many others you got, you just pick your position you want to play. On Tuesday or Weds, we had about 6 of us playing. ST RAM LAM CAM CM where all taking up with DaMuffinman controlling the rest of the players. It makes it fun xD You can do 11vs11 as well, with them adding in FIFA12 the ability to use the goal keeper.

Don't think people will be getting FIFA 14 for PC. They are not putting any effort into it for PC >.< They said (few pages back) that they are not upgrading any of the gameplay on the PC version, just it's graphics. Xbox One and PS4s will be upgraded (same for 360/ps3) but they aren't upgrading it on PC this year.

Guys I'm building my squad still in fut, what are some good cheap players like 5kmax? Keep in mind that I prefer passing-shooting instead of pace-dribbling since I can't dribble my way around defences.
Atm, I got guardado, vidal from juve he's a beast, jesus nadal, higuain and isco.
I made a premier league team that blows through opponents and cost very little, I'd say its ratio is about 3-1 W-L on top division. Not as good as my brazil team which is like 4-1. I'll try and bring up who I use:

Tbh you don't need Toure or those strikers. You could just as easily get some lame wads who have reasonable pace, strength or shooting. I just like strikers who I am sure will score when they strike. Suarez pretty much scores all the time. RVP would be nice too if you can get him cheap.

Its called the roulette not the McGeady spin as its a 5 star move and Torres cant do those
If you really want the nice ones you finish the shot with a nice little trick pass. You just hold the L1 button and pass forward when facing goal and hell do a hell pass or roulette pass or something.
The best way to go around keeper is the Heel to heel, once you have learned the timing and angle you will go aroung the goalie 100% of the time, the AI of goalies cant prevent it.

PS. Check out FifaRalle and Hjerpseth for skilling videos, there are a few other guys as well that are way to good at skilling but cant remember their names. I have stopped playing since its no fun anymore.
For the BeAPro Team we have (which you can join at any time; just search for club "Team Liquid" and join) we play in weekday evenings at 18:00 GMT (+00:00) normally play for about 1hour to 2hours when we can. I always post whenever we play though a good 1/2 hours before hand.
feeling a bit old school you know I've been playing fifa as long as I remember and I was wondering if anyone played the uefa champions league fifa game in 06 or 07... Surprisingly enough it was the first and last time I had touched ultimate team.
So now I decided I might as well give it a shot in fifa 13 and it is pretty fun... much more fun than the image I had of it.
So far I have a 40-2-2 record in FUT... But here's the deal. The gameplay from seasons (ranked 1v1 normal teams) compared to FUT is so different. I am at around 25k rank right now (in PS3 ladder for seasons) and it amazes me that when I go into FUT all I have to do is watch out for the lobbed ball as everyone is just playing for the pace. None of the guys in FUT play like genuine passing football and its just making runs and lobbing it through defenders where as in seasons the play is much more methodical and passes are given more thought.
I also didn't know head coaches were stackable. I played against this guy and he had the fastest lavezzi I had ever seen... I mean I had my triangle button (to release the keeper) 80% of the time I was on defense. After the game I asked him how his his Lavezzi so fast and then he told me he had stacked him with all atributes training and had 50 percent extra on pace... But I'm telling you his speed is unreal.

9/10 people who just stack pace, will look to cut inside and shoot from anywhere near the penalty area (and a few yards out) 99% of the time. Just bait them wherever you want in the pitch and just expect the cut inside.

Im rarely on PS3 clubs. I mostly played on my bro's account this fifa to help him skill up his pro since he plays more. Last fifa i GK'd and destroyed pretty hard for a while. Once i stopped playing for a while and tried to pick up GKing again omg i was awful lol.
I am gonna write down a review on some teams I ve been building up. Also I would like to get some recommendations from people that have played a lot of games (ps3).
So after selling my BPL team and the week's TOTS being BBVA i thought i'd buy some fifa points to open some packs. After spending around 15k fifa points (ye I know crazy stupid thing) I got 0 good players. EA is clearly juicing us all out and I think they are doing it on purpose to get more of our hard earned money. I mean seriously EA almost a whole night and half a morning i was openning packs and not even 1 good player. jeez.
Anyhow my BBVA teams wasnt that good and I decided to go for a Serie A team with some TOTS.

Looks kinda beast on paper but in game it didnt give me much of a pleasure. Boateng is a beast tho, he scored some goals that were unimaginable and TOTS hamsik free kicks is insane. After some games with this team I decided to switch to 41212 but that didnt do the job as well so I sold everything and made a BPL team.
So now my BPL team looks like this:

My first BPL team used to have TOTS RVP instead of SIF Suarez with NIF Torres and instead of TOTS Gerrard I had Toure.
Now i dont complain much with the team I have now, SIF Suarez is a beast and IF torres you cant go wrong with this guy he is one of my fav Strikers in BPL even his NIF version is so good that im thinking of selling the IF version, tho his shooting does make a small difference.
Things I noticed so far, TOTS gerrard could easily be replaced with Toure or even TOTS Carrick. the defense is superb, and the other problem I notice is that my Rooney for the fist time the one I have seems to run out of stamina in the end of 1st half. I never had such problems with Rooney i had in the past but its just that he doesnt play well for me right now.
What I was thinking are the following! please advice! Change Rooney to ST, replace him with IF Torres, get TOTS Gerrard on a CAM, get TOTS Carrick on CDM or even Toure. then I will have left alot of coins for maybe one more TOTS, like TOTS Baines maybe or a better LM / RM ? the RM's in bpl are the only crap thing I dont like. Waiting on opinions!

I'll sell him and get a better cam(cause isco is so average, cazorla is a boss though).
So, gimme some cam names, I want them to be able to pass and shoot with speed as a nice bonus, don't care about nation/league/chemistry, I just buy players that I like.

btw I just got reus and he is so fast and shoots the ball well. Also I played against a guy who had TOTS messi and ronaldo and I won!! (1-0 with a goal at the last minute)

kinda funny I got lucky literally every shot he made with cr7 and messi went into the post and I was defending the whole game and then I get a lucky break and just managed to go down the wing and cross it and head it in. TBH it was the best game I had ever played defensively as it is SO hard to keep cr7 and messi without open shots to the goal because not only are they fast but man do they dribble.

Guys, I got Hazard for the left side but he kinda tracks back a lot and he runs out of stamina in some games, if I change his position with a position training card from lf to lw will he track back less or does that depend on the formation I'm using and his position in it?
I'm playing a 4-2-3-1 atm with him as the left cam, must I change to a formation with hard coded wingers for him to stay up front?

In fifa players have work rates. They can be high, medium or low for attacking and defending. Now the formation dictates how far up the pitch does the player play, which in the case of your formation for hazard is not essential since he is really at his best at a really forward position. Changing the card from lf to lw will not change the work rate of a player. Hazard has a high offensive work rate and a medium defensive work rate. So in your position as a CAM in the 4-3-2-1 formation he is doing a lot of defending compared to as if he were a lw or lf.
So my advice is to change your formation in order to get full advantage of his play.
I wouldn't have podolski at CAM that's silly if you actually want to improve as a player. His dribbling is wank and his passing is crap. You need a playmaker and need to learn how to use the position and do it properly. Long shots become so rare when you play good players.

I rarely get scored on by long shots, not because i have a sick GK, cause i rarely allow any clean one.
Not really, next Fifa I really advise you just buy and sell on the market. It's way better for actually making cash and getting a nice team. The fun of opening packs is alluring, but it's not very sensible.

I jumped into football sims in fifa13 after like 3-4 years, at first I was thinking exactly like you.
But soon after I got my first quality gold player I was hooked, building your team and earning your coins to do it is very very rewarding.
@sc4k, I made like 90k with buy low-sell high method but I figured it would be easier to open packs till I'd get a very expensive player, dunno.
how do you guys deal with the mechanics of fifa? ive played it for mb 100 hours now and im still frustrated alot by how my players do passes too late, wont accept passes (fifa doesnt realize a certain player is passed too sometimes), players not able to handle the ball when being passed too (very frustrating) and more ... lots of frustrating stuff, you probably know it.

There are settings where you change passing mechanics for example. It is defaulted to "assisted" passing, where computer will automatically choose someone in the area of where you aim and how much power you put into the pass. You can change it to "semi assisted" or "manual" Mastering Manual passing is pretty hard, but if you did you would probably star understanding the mechanics of it and owning people better. I think pro players use "semi assisted" though, and thats what i use.

it's like football manager and fifa rolled into one. best of both worlds, some say. plus, playing vs spain every game get old rather quickly.
E: it's also never worth it to open packs. I had ~230-250k coins total on fifa11 and I never opened a single silver or gold pack. can't imagine it's much different in 12 or 13. I just bought gold players that were on min bid or cheap rares and resold them. once you have a bit of a capital (50k at least, more preferable) you can start to trade IFs and such. I also never specifically bought/sold BPL players. they're always ridiculously overpriced.

With the way ultimate team mechanics are, it's not really hard to beat 5 star teams as a 3 star team. Shot power is just that silly. Hell probably you can do it 2 star vs 5 star if you felt like torturing yourself heh. That's why pace is so prevalent more so than a player's technical skill unless you're good at passing to the flanks and stuff instead of just running down the middle or use a silly repetitive passing pattern that doesn't really vary.
Hmm, something weird happened. I was playing the usual, online season div1, after 8 games I had 5 wins and 3 draws and just as the 8th game finished I got the You won the title message, I had 18 points and you need 21 to win it, wtf.

Teams I have tried include BPL squads including TOTS suarez, SIF Suarez (SIF Suarez felt same as TOTS and is cheaper), TOTS RVP ( i have tried him again and I can say he is good but not worth so many coins imo), best BPL player I ve used and didnt know he is THAT good was for my CF position and I think he is the best in whole bpl for this IF Taarabt he is a beast!!! I don't find it a problem as he's always in position and his interceptions are really good. SIF Ya Konan is an absolute beast. I hate using strikers that can't dribble the ball very well.

Are you serious? I've opened 500k+ worth of packs and never got anything good Trading in the auction house by buying low and selling high gives me a lot more profit though.

I know Dreamhack had a tournament, but the recaps/youtube videos I think are in Swedish. =(
I just wanted to know when it comes to professional FIFA 13, what are the basic rules for matches? Do you have to play with default teams or are player trades/purchases legal in pro-gaming matches? Are there specific rules you have to enable in pro-gaming matches? If you were to hold a tournament would you enforce a Bo1/Bo3 format given one day to go through a bracket? Is there a tournament setting in the game?

First: Injuries off, WCG and all big tournaments I know of have it tourned off. It's bullshit for competition, for obvious reasons. As I haven't found any weather settings on WCG, I assume it's standard (aka random). But go with whatever you prefer on that one.

Yeah but I wouldn't go with the tournaments EA themselves host. Because it's EA. And Injuries on makes no sense from the eSports-perspective. Also FIWC was Bo1 including finals, pretty much tells the story from the eSpors-side. In a Bo1 clear weather makes a lot of sense though.
On injuries: It's Bo1, you have RM, Ronaldo injures himself right at the beginning. Now you're fucked.

No ball doesn't roll extra in rain it rolls way less, it always comes to a stop when you think a stupidly long lobbed through ball is going out of play lol. Snow makes it roll and bounce like 2x as much lol.
Really annoying how they don't allow custom formations, particularly since half the formations they have don't make any sense at all IRL. If custom formations result in gimmicks, they need to fix the gimmicks, not ban custom formations.

Instead they will add one or two bells and whistles. And never change the fact that pace is the almighty lord in Fifa, passes are WAY too accurate from 95% of the players, and crosses are way too effective.

Looked up the rules and checked with tournament coordinator, we should be running a WCG style tournament.
Another particularly frustrating thing is defensive midfielders: they don't fucking exist! No matter how you set it up, high def work rate/low attack workrate, all custom tactics specifically set so that central midfielders stay and hold, etc. it doesn't matter. All your central mids bomb forward at any tiny chance opportunity. One of the main reasons the state of gameplay FIFA is as it is imo, direct 2 striker formations to take advantage of the fact that midfielders leave your defense isolated.

I don't think pace is THAT good. I agree though that it's unrealistically good cause of the passing as you said. Double tap is supposedly "near post cross" but basically it's a driven cross at head height instead of floated from above. It's pretty silly with the high end teams. I played a friend with a 5 star team for once yesterday because he kept saying how good he was etc. Those crosses made him look silly. They're really good if you can get good positions near the end line or the receiver is ahead of the defender.

With default settings (don't remember if it's assisted or semi-assisted) it's stupidly accurate, it'll always go near a player's head or a little below for a volley of some sort. You only aim to the player (even if there's a lot of options) and double tap. I usually do it facing slightly inwards towards goal unlike a regular cross where you just throw in there and bet on aerial superiority.

I agree...in general in fact almost every talent is muted except for pace. Every player can hit passes, make shots, finish reasonably, tackle pretty well, make headers. They do it so that you get a good amount of goals in a game that lasts 12 minutes but it just doesn't suffice. Unfortunately, it means that the only attribute you can really tell the difference in becomes OP. Tbh, a lot of 'pacy' players can still be caught by defenders quite easily because running with the ball is slower than running without. I see it all the time, a player gets one on one with a defender who he has like 20 extra pace over in Fifa and the defender easily keeps up with him.
Having said that, you are partially right about pace not being THAT good, because the best players I have played have been tricky ones who rely on a mix of speed and skills. But there are a lot of players in the top divisions who just have absolutely no talent whatsoever and gimp their way to victory with pace.
So yeah this is the Fifa where they won't be using the proper engine for the PC? That fucking sucks...makes it really hard to decide what to do. Might just have to miss out on this edition of Fifa and vote with my wallet .
The demo my mate played on pc and streamed it for me xD (cuz i at work bored) looked like it completely changed again. The whole base speed stat looks to have been buffed across the field with everyone looking faster. He said defenders feel so much quicker makes defending easier and less lobbed through balls working everytime u do them xD

Haha, i really like it i dont know why, maybe its just the co op season. Me and friend playing co-op season and having a good laugh. I do like the new style though feels way more like football than a computer game now for me, load more realistic, still learning the game though.
been playing fifa all day. really like the pace in ultimate team, havent really tried any other game mode though if they fix headers and lob passes, it has the potential to be my favorite fifa.

I played a little NHL with other people, does FIFA work similarly? Where one person would control one position in NHL i.e. Center, does one person control the right mid/forward in FIFA or something? Or is there only 1v1, 2v2, etc in FIFA, where anyone can control any position?
They bought out a 2v2 league in this years FIFA which means you and your friend can take on another 2 people in a league format. That is good fun, me and my friend won the cup this weekend and are in division 4 about to be division 3. Man City seem to be our op team atm.
But the BAP works like the NHL thing you just mentioned. You can play with 11 people or just as many as you have. 1 Person can "control all" in where he controls all the positions that haven't been picked by other people. Which is normally the defense and keeper
For fifa 14, what is the mode that everyone searches for? it seems that NOBODY IS playing on fast setting whenever i setup custom game. My settings for custom 6min, any,any,any,any and then speed-fast.

has anyone had a bug (i assume it's a bug) where FUT games won't start? I find an opponent, get to the screen where his team is shown and never get past it. the circle keeps spinning and i can change music but the game never loads. happens every other game, seemingly randomly, and is infuriating. i get DNF and lose contracts and a game is recorded in match history
Ive never really seen a reason for a yearly release of FIFA. The internet and infrastructure allows for season / team updates within the game already, what do you need a new one every year for?
Its not like they make ground breaking changes with each new release, wasnt the last one just something to do with the crowd? XD I think the last big change i remember is moving from 8 directional to 360 movement and "be-a-pro" play.
Either way, i guess its just like CoD, have to buy the next one and move on because thats where the playerbase is if you want to play online / competitively.

Only bug i have had is where my player stayed off the pitch until the ball was out of play. It was Messi in a 2v2 game i was doing with my mate. Id ran to try and head the ball but he had ran off the pitch because the cross nearly went in. He then stayed off the pitch from 80min game clock until the ball went out on 90min game clock. Was pissed as we were drawing at the time ;_; He was just AFK stood off the pitch next to the goal line :S then the ball went out of play and it reset himself back onto the field.

that happened with my goalkeeper once; he stayed left of the goal off the pitch, until my cpu-opponent missed the open net and positions got reset ^^ was pretty funny

packs have not been rewarding for me, i spent $20 worth of fifa points and best i got was Vertonghen. all other gold rares were the likes of Koke, Berbatov that sold for 2k and 750 respectively. i'd build a team first then buy packs. you can build decent gold team first with 350 per card. then upgrade it later one by one with ones that cost 4k.

After seeing that ridiculous Mitroglou inform(2nd inform already mind you) I decided to make a squad around him. Although he has 96 finishing, 87 longshots, 95 shot power and 88 volleys + 99 stamina and 91 strength(which is very important in fifa14 as I hear) he costs a measly 10-15k due to weak league/ethnicity.
Fun fact, Falcao and IF Rodriguez cost 2/3rds of the team's overall cost, lol. Balo can replace falcao for a smaller budget I guess but then we need fitness cards, cause rodriguez needs his colombian gang for full chem. Meh, I'll make do with my cheap muriel atm.

Btw seems to me that you think of spending some money, my advice is to not spend too much cause I found out if I progress through a game with my wallet, I lose interest very quickly. That might just be me though.
Also chemistry is important, link your players even if you have to buy cheap ones from trades, then upgrade them one by one. After you build your first good squad you can begin trading to profit or buy packs if you feel lucky. Packs are only worth it if you spend big money, finding an expensive player is like lottery.

my tips though it could be totally wrong as i'm a noob myself.
1. try to build two squads with subs/res on each other's squads. this way you dont have to spend anything on injury and fitness. you can use your "main" team for FUT online, then use the back up (cheap 300 coin golds or something) to play FUT offline and still makes some coins, plus rid of injury and build stamina for the main team.
2. dont sprint, only sprint when you're 100% sure its clear. sprinting will make your opponent stealing the ball easy and its horrid on first touches.
3. use contain button instead of sprint to run up to the ball when you're defending, this way you dont run pass the ball when u miss and let go of the contain button when you get near and manually run into the ball with or without jockey.

popular players are expensive beyond belief :/ i wanted to make korea/brazil silver squad, i have all korean squads including hong jeong ho that cost 12k. then i learned two players i wanted for brazil would cost me 60k each. (jobson and elton)...so i dont even know what i'm gonna do. just save up coins and see what happens since i'm content with my BBVA team and korean silver team.
if you want to spend 40+ on fifa points for the gambling fun, go for it, i enjoyed wasting $20 on it and i got maybe 20k coins worth of players.
i have a question for some experienced players. i have trouble passing the ball up front, currently using 3-5-2 formation. is it the formation thats wrong? i have 100 chemistry with 1 deadlink, all my players want to just gun for a long lob throughpass or not in open position when i want to tiki taki.
Hey guys I'm a fairly new Fifa player, and I'm in need of some tips. I don't really play much online, since my ping is horrid atm so this is mostly aimed towards vs AI. Currently I play at Professional difficulty (anything below that was just too easy) and I'm having real issues creating chances and scoring. I usually have an insane amount of possession during the games (75%+), but I'm just not really sure what to do when I have the ball and I usually just pass around alot without much happening. Sometimes I get crosses in, but mostly they're blocked by the defenders. Getting shots off at all in front of the goal without them being blocked never really happens for me either. Currently most of my games end 0-0 (about 80%) or 1-0 with me scoring off a stolen ball from a defender and very rarely corners. Any tips for getting in and creating chances ? Should I be able to dribble past defenders or use skill moves to get shots off ? Or is it something else I'm missing?

crossing seems to be very accurate in my opinion. get a striker with very good heading, strength, height, position and he will have very good chance on making the headers from cross and corners (i use seol ki hyeon on silver, aduriz for gold). have fast wingers or side mid fielders with high pace that can run past the defenders when there is space or from one-two pass (lb+pass) or lob/non-lob through pass (LB + through pass).
one thing that helped me a lot is changing the camera, zoom out all the way so you can see most of the field and players. there will be times when your forwards will make a run while you pass around, lob through pass it to him when you see him make the run. from this you can either shoot for it if you have the position somewhere in the middle, or make a cross/early cross (LB+lob pass) when you're on the sides.
PS: I used to have all serie A players and it was playing horribly for me. di natale didnt live up to the expectations, only good ST is Balo and when I first started fifa with a serie A, Klose was a beast for me.
oh and before someone asks, i got my team by lucky pack opennings of players like Neymar and Hazard :D

Was wondering if someone could help me out with an issue I'm having on FIFA 14 (Xbox one) I've been playing offline be a pro mode and randomly after pausing the camera now treats every player as if they're the "pro" I.e. I can't even see my own player half the time because it goes to the player with the ball's view. I tried changing camera, resetting everything to default, and looking up fixes online and nothing has worked.

What are people's impressions for what's been shown for FIFA 15? I think adding a lot more animations (player in-game animations) is really good before making "balance overhauls." I mean its EA so my expectations aren't really high, but there's a noticeable difference in FIFA 14 gameplay from PS3/360 to PS4/XB1 on animations alone. Like on FIFA 14, heading shouldn't be touched a bunch offensively (barring the odd power headers from really stupid positions/animations), but rather add more aerial animations on defense (in general as well). I mean like there's a lot more ways to head a ball to clear effectively than there is to head on goal effectively.
The optimism in me hopes they fix the more glaring issues such as that and the terrible GK issues (specially vs headers, there's a clear lack of sudden Reflex saves animations, hence a bunch of goals off headers look really stupid).

Just played the new Fifa 15 demo on PC, and i have to say i'm impressed. Some of the old problems are back, but i'm sure its just a case of getting them ironed out before or just after release.
The graphics are massively better, the gameplay is faster and slightly tighter, and the players feel better.
Issues so far: Very low FPS and lag spikes when playing (i have a decent gaming PC) AI can't control the ball from its own throw ins, i steal like 70% of them Shots feel weak and floaty.
These issues have all cropped up in previous FIFA versions and fixed fairly quickly, so i'm overall very confident that this will be the best FIFA by long way when its complete.
oh yeah, the new fifa 15 on PC with the ignite engine is awesome.
but the new presentation + "emotional" additions to the game really take the cake for me. the camera shaking when a goal is scored and the crowd goes ballistic is something i will never get tired of.
Anyone getting FIFA 15 on PS4? I found the demo pretty fun. Volleys seemed a bit overtuned (got nerfed already i heard), goalkeepers seemed great (i think they got nerfed a little as well, i personally thought they were fine).
It was fun playing FIFA 13 with TLers, kinda hoping to get some together for FIFA 15 as well.

I play FIFA15 aswell but also on PC. Why would you play it on console anyways when you got a good PC? When my mates come by I can connect the PC to my TV and its just the same feeling as on a console. Well even better actually especially since I can use the english commentators instead of the terrible german ones :D
just had one of those games when i get 14 shot on goal and no goals and my opponent gets 2 shots on goal and makes both. T.T 90th minute goals or some random bs dont bother me, it goes both ways...but games like this piss me off...and it was to some no chem starter pack players.

I haven't really 1vs1 and i have seen a few streams. Seems a lot more goals, 3-3 would seem about right now. When we play Clubs or 2v2 it is like 3-0 wins or 4-3 odd one. A lot more goals is about right though for this version, defending a lot harder than usual.
It depends, i mean like, if you play against people who don't really use skills just holding R1 (PS4) and you use a defender to cutoff passing lanes is enough from what i've experienced. I haven't played against anyone who's actually good at skilling (the one's i've played with are hilariously predictable, just defend them yourself, the AI will get owned most of the time), i'd imagine those are terror and result in many goals with the current defending.

i think it depends mostly on what formation i play against, and of course how good my opponent is. but many if not most times, luck plays a factor too. there are so many bullshit moments in the game it makes me cringe (for both sides).
The players no longer "glide" to the ball when you release the tackle button, you have to be in position, so it's a lot more difficult to tackle (for novice players), which could explain why you see so many goals. I just play customs with friends and I haven't noticed a big spike in goals, but we are all about the same skill level.

the squad i used had a team rating of 82. after i got reus i built a team around him and team rating became 83. while using this squad, i only ran into other high rated teams with the likes of ribery, messi, inform tevez.
so i thought damn, i dont remember facing them so often before. so i went back into the 82 rated team then started playing against not so high rated teams; regular golds, even facing all silver team.
just wanted to share, if you do plan on getting high rated team, be ready to face them too. the threshold seems to be at 82. though i actually havntd tried all bronze bench (i like to have real bench players)
another thing, i finally understood the implications of work rates. all my midfield players had high/high or high/medium and i would get crushed hard on counter attacks. using players like pogba or gundogan as cdm would be bad idea or having all high attack work rate on all central midfielders. so watch out.

another thing, i finally understood the implications of work rates. all my midfield players had high/high or high/medium and i would get crushed hard on counter attacks. using players like pogba or gundogan as cdm would be bad idea or having all high attack work rate on all central midfielders. so watch out.
There's definitely some sort of skill matchmaking too. I won my first match against some little kid that never passed, then I could tell it was trying me way higher than my level then it adjusted and now it seems to give me even matches, just like some sort of trueskill/MMR rating would.

Anyway David Villa is my favorite UT player right now, he can't stop scoring. I paid like 700 coins + 250 for sniper chemistry (he's full chemistry by just connecting to only spanish guys with spain manager and loyalty), and it's 5* weak foot, 4* skills, finesse shot trait, amazing ball control and finishing, silky dribbling, great runs in behind. It basically doesn't matter where he gets on the ball in or near the box for me, he puts it away.
Does anyone have any good tips for beating Bayern and Real when playing the professional AI? Want that gold pack from single player tourney but I'm conceding too many goals -__-

Yeah, for CDM's you should always be using someone with L/H or M/H work rates. In my opinion, Luis Gustavo is the perfect CDM. My opponents can't get past my midfield because of him. The dude is a wall. I suggest you try him out. Also, Kevin-Prince Boateng is a beast of a CM. When accounting for total stats, I think he's like top 5.
I'm doing pretty well against people who play rather normally for just having picked up a controller recently now.
I'm giving up tons of goals against lob through ball abuse still though (and I meet it quite often), I haven't figured out the trick to defending this yet, I can't switch to the right defender and get him running back to the goal soon enough (and even when he wins the battle, half the time it seems like he first touches it right to the attacker or the attacker just runs through him).
It just seems like the players are too good at these, they are like one of the hardest plays in real life, yet it seems like in game everyone's playing balls like Xavi or Pirlo.
Also that little fucker Ahmed Musa, he keeps destroying me with ridiculous plays and waltzing through my defense in UT.

OK god damn I played a ton today and mostly got brutalized. My form on FUT online now looks like LLDDLL, and on seasons LLWLLL, even though I recognizably improved and feel way better than when I started today. One guy I played early in the day with Barcelona and got dominated, then the last game I played I matched him again, this time I was Athletic Bilbao (he was Juventus both times) and it was very even, he won 3-2 on an 89th minute goal (and his other two goals were dribbling through me at kickoff, I keep forgetting to be alert for that).

I don't understand how people enjoy H2H--at least on the PC it's hard to find matches below 5* teams, and everyone is Real Madrid, and Real Madrid is so effing OP, Ronaldo is unstoppable.
Also I've never done so badly at a game in my life than this now--I've continued losing at the same rate, so this past week my record is about 5-7-40 or something, I got relegated from div 6 to div 8 in FUT and from div 8 to div 9 in seasons and I just barely avoided being relegated to div 10 (which is barely even possible). I even have lost consistently to people who are noticeably worse at controlling than me (1-0 usually) cause I can't score goals, it seems like there's a forcefield around the opponents goal.
Finally found a squad that's saved me from despair in regular seasons:
Probably an easy-mode squad, but I beat some Real Madrids with it so I like it.
That's Cavani up top, Matuidi and Motta at CDM and Aurier at middle CB. Verratti is usually an energy sub, usually for Cabaye. Marquinhos goes in and Silva goes to the middle if the opponent looks like he might actually try to go heavy on crossing or plays slower build up play. But for most people, the sweeper in the middle feels better and Aurier is a beast at it.
The tides of this game, man: After going like 7-50, the other day that PSG setup won me four in a row, and then today I played two games, first game I get a last kick of the match equalizer, second game I get a last kick of the match winner to win a division.
I really liked playing Fifa 13 a lot. When Fifa 14 came out, I played it for a while but I didn't like it. I felt that the entire gameplay was weaker than that in Fifa 13.
I have not had a chance to experience Fifa 15 yet. May I ask if you guys think Fifa 15 is a step up or step down from its predecessors? Are there any annoying bugs in the game that should influence my decision whether or not to purchase it? I will only be playing against the AI (ie. no online games).
Right now I'm either going to buy Fifa 15, or edit my Fifa 13 to the latest squads etc (creating players too). So opinions guys? Thanks!
TBH, you might be better off with PES unless you're FIFA devotee. PES has usually had the superior single player experience (specially when it's not far behind FIFA in presentation and stuff). I haven't played PES in a while since i mostly play multiplayer nowadays but i've been hearing that PES 15 got rated really well.
As to your question specifically, i think FIFA 15 is more similar to 13 than 14 if i'm not misremembering. If you can, try out the demo, the player movement is basically the same as the full version (definitely look at the new team instructions, seems to me you'd like that).

This has literally stopped me from playing FIFA this year. Its ridiculous how many goals get scored straight from kickoff.
Weirdly, i've gone back to PES. Its quite fun this year, but the presentation and feel of the menus is absolutely disgusting. Its like a 90s game lol.
This issue finally seems better with the most recent FIFA update. The most frustrating continuing thing is the keepers. They deny you with the most ridiculous reaction saves, but then they go and makes the most basic angles error (constantly).
Last game I had a header about 1-2 yards away from the keeper that's on its way past him then he whips his fuckin arm out like a cobra and saves it perfectly. Then it comes down to my end, a ball is trickling through that's a close race between my keeper and the attacker, and when I bring him out but he doesn't even dive toward the ball, he's like completely to the side of the guy and ball leaving the goal open (the attacker didn't do any moves or anything, just ran onto the ball--it was fuckin Fellaini for god's sake).

This year's FIFA is looking amazing so far. I don't tend to fanboy hard over games but so far I don't have major issues with the gameplay. I do currently have my eyes on the dribbling though, either i'm really freaking good at making defenders look silly in tight spaces or it's pretty OP. I played clubs all day and didn't find anyone trying to dribble similarly to myself so I can't say for certain atm. The AI defenders not being complete dead weight is so fun as there is actually tension that's not lobbed through passes.
Yeah lobbed through balls have literally disappeared from the game which is nice. However passing as the any in be a pro is so hard as the players you have are terrible. Passing in general is taking time for me to get used to it but i do like the new style.
Have to wait until tomorrow to play it in England now i used my 10 hours on EA access by monday xD
I've always hated playing 'any' lol, I try to play like I usually do but the players...yeah. Lobbed through balls and pace are still good but you can't really cheese anymore. Fast midgets don't seem OP since they get dispossessed pretty easily by a stronger defender. Still great in space of course, which it's perfectly fine.

i dont know if its just me but they nerfed the through loft ball via artificially modifying the command, not improving defense. i see my forward making a run, try to loft it through with a good passer, i have kovacic and ki, both good passers. though i give enough power, the ball would come short and go only to the nearest player and not the forward i was aiming for.
i have pass power assist off.
only played for a night, i'll play more to get the feel for it better. the passing feels awkward, it doesnt go where i want it to in terms of distance, not direction. i'm compensating this with direct loft pass.
Yeah I think the thing is, Balance is OP and/or the Balance to Strength ratio that determines on holding off tackles is off. You guys should try dribbling slowly if you're being tightly marked (mainly from behind but the side works too) and spam L2/LT and laugh as you hold off any defender regardless of their Strength+Aggression. I know it sounds like a heavy exaggeration but you'll see it's only a slight one if at all . It feels like Balance is at least equal to Strength (90 Balance and 40 Strength feels the same as 40 Balance and 90 Strength) and it's just weird. I've still mostly been playing Pro Clubs but I can imagine that someone like Pogba feels godly.

Forgive me, but I can't seem to figure out how to change my region on PC? I have looked online and in game and can't seem to find anything. perhaps look on the EA website and do it there? Sorry my google skills have failed me today O.o
I believe it's under online settings in the customize tab in game for your typical online stuff. For Pro Clubs it's seperate and only the manager can change it. I'll check later and confirm or edit to correct this post.
edit: yes its there, though you can't pick a specific region it makes it so you won't 'lock' to yours.

I can say that pro clubs is better indeed, after playing it for a bit. Removing the accomplishments and instead focusing on how well you actually play during games to increase your stats feels like better design.
I do like Journey as well, though have only played it for about an hour. I can feel it becoming less interesting over time though.

Perfect time to get it imo. There's a few optimization problems for some people here and there, you may not be missing a lot depending on if you were lucky/unlucky with unwanted lag here and there. A patch should definitely be out by then.

I got FIFA 18 in some sale this year and I've really tried to enjoy it...but I can't. It's bloated, the "campaign" is retarded and I'm not interested in playing that UT bullshit grind fest. Me and my flatmates picked up FIFA19 on release and it's been good fun. It is still a FIFA game, but again it does all you really want from it.
After FIFA17 (skipped 18) the ball control seems a bit wonky again, definitely less glued to your feet. I enjoy the collisions and 50/50 challenges a lot, they feel impactful and realistic. Few new controls and changes mostly concerning shooting and dribbling take a bit of getting used to but overall I'm happy with how it plays.
New game modes are fun but I don't see myself going back to them over and over after the initial interest is over. Overall I'm happy with it, excellent experience for mates sitting on a couch playing a few games with each other, no idea how online scene is and how the game will play out for those more into that side of things.
So I notice that on defense my players often just let up against an opponent as the ball is being passed to that opponent. There are many times when my guy could easily have gotten the ball if the AI had given him a brain, but he lets up. Is there a way to prevent your defenders from being retarded? I guess the idea is that you have to press L1 rapidly and control them all personally.
Also is there a way to try to win headers or is it just chance?

How is it after so many iterations they have yet to work out player switching, and of course skill moves not registering.
There's a certain jerkiness or snappiness to certain passes and shots and I can't tell if it's more realistic than FIFA 19 or not. I think they sped up the ball movement.
I bought FIFA 20 this week and my old FUT club I've had since 2015 is missing and the game created a fresh club for me -.- I skipped FIFA 19 maybe that has something to do with the issue?
