Also, does this even come close to the visuals of Crysis 3 on PC with almost max settings? Doubt it...
To be fair not many games even on PC can compare to that
But they aren't rolled out as a flagship to showcase the amazing gameplay graphics that will blow us away.
Not all games have FarCry graphics, but games that are showcased as heralding a next generation of gaming engines and possibilities sure as hell better have.
Well from what I heard (I don't know for sure) the new consoles are already behind pc in terms of graphics cards their like a generation or 2 behind what are currently out. I don't expect any console games even on the new xbox/ps4 to have the same graphics as battlefield 3 or crysis 3 maxed. I could be wrong of course, but from the improved graphics they showed on cod ghost and how much better it was then mw3 it still wasn't as good as battlefield 3 let alone crysis 3.
This will always be the case. Cutting-edge technology will always be out of the price range of home consoles.
Obviously the commentary in this thread is from hardcore PC gamers only, but you can't deny that Microsoft has the potential to make bank with this. Interactive TV series and NFL partnership hold great potential in the US. Those two things are not gimmicks. The fact that this is a platform, with open-ended potential could mean it will be able to do great, innovative things not too far down the road (the same is true of PS4 really). Overall, Microsoft and Sony are trying to innovate in the world of consoles - and they're putting out the best ideas that are currently in vogue. It's better than just a new box with upgraded hardware.
Sony's stock has increased since the trailer. This amuses me.
1) This is not a console aimed at gamers. It's aimed at people who want to watch hangegg and see their numbers go up in fantasy football before letting their kids play COD. MS are aiming this at people who want an all-purpose entertainment machine in their house, not people who want strong gaming. That said, market is as it is, a lot of devs will still probably focus on Xbox due to market-share so, you know, whatever. PS4 sounds more powerful and better for gaming, PC remains king (but very niche, so enjoy ports).
2) I wish they'd stop saying "Next gen" on shit like this. Crysis looked as good if not better. We've had dogs in games for ages. We've had sliding in games for ages...

... I lol'd heartily.
All in all, no games, I'm aware they're waiting for E3 for a lot of that but the people tuning in are largely going to be gamers. This seems like a good way of alienating that audience. A lot of shit in there already done by PC or seems superfluous. The Halo TV series just sounds awful, Speilberg spawned the monster of Crystal Skull when he half assed something, I'm not going to expect more for what is clearly a "have a load of money so we can have your name" gig.

Alot worse if you don't plan on building your living room around the new XBoX as entertainment system. Especially if you live outside the US.
rofl what presentation did you see. ps4 presentation was even without the ps4 itself. they were both shit, totally lacking details and games.
PS4 clearly did a better job marketing themselves towards the "gamer" demographic. I agree their event was pretty lacking as well though in other regards.

I suppose they figure with E3 so close that they should probably use this conference to talk about new features and use E3 to talk about games.
lol this thread is so full of people with a preconceived bias against consoles. "Hey guys I'm gonna point out the things I like about PC that consoles still won't have...my post is worthwhile, trust me."
So...I am looking forward E3 as it sounds like there are a lot of new game creators coming showing off new games for Xbox and PS4. Will be fun to see the new titles, makes it a more exciting holiday season on the horizon.
I wish the xbox wasn't focused so much on American TV though, i mean if they could do the stuff they showed on every "satellite" tv producer it would be worth it, other than that, it won't be useful to any non American.
Still, as a console it's still down to preferences...do you live in America and watch tv? Yes, buy an xbox. Do you care about TV, No? Then buy a ps4. Is what it looks like to me xD
Everyone knows that it's going to have games and with E3 coming up right away I think it completely makes sense that they didn't cover a lot of games. They have a new box with a bunch of features they want people to know about, where else besides the reveal event should they show all that stuff? That said there was a few things they could cut like the Halo TV series. About what I was expecting overall.

Lol why in God's name would they cut the Halo TV series? That's an innovate feature of the console. It was one of their biggest announcements lol.
So Europeans, how relevant are the TV aspects of the console to you? I've heard TV is generally not a thing in Europe (as in a really popular living room activity). Is it basically MS saying "We're just going to try and dominate NA and everything else is whatever."

I was expecting a console that pales in comparison to any decent PC. I was still very disappointed. The emphasis on TV is just completely misplaced, and it looks to be catering to the frat-boy COD/Madden crowd. Thoroughly unappealing.
Still waiting for someone to give the TV scene the shakeup it needs so badly.
